Chapter 120: Huang Yuezhen Is Moved
CHAPTER 120: CHAPTER 120: HUANG YUEZHEN IS MOVED
As soon as the stall was set up, a few old ladies came over to see what was happening. They saw that it was selling clothes, pants, and shoes for young men and women. After asking about the prices, some of the old ladies hurried back to call more people.
Around seven o’clock, Xu Dahai’s stall was already crowded with people asking about sizes, bargaining, and grabbing clothes.
It was almost a chaotic mess.
Since it was their first time running a stall, they were inexperienced and let one or two people take advantage by taking clothes without paying. Fortunately, a kind-hearted old lady was watching nearby, preventing more of this from happening.
By approximately eleven in the morning, when others were already packing up, Xu Dahai’s stall was still bustling. However, the remaining items were insufficient, either out of style or out of size, be it clothes, shoes, or pants.
By around twelve noon, they had almost sold out everything they brought, so the couple quickly packed up and returned home.
Upon arriving home, Xu Dahai immediately said, "I’ll go to the city this afternoon to restock. If I’m fast, I can return tonight; otherwise, it will be noon tomorrow."
Lin Ying, having tasted the success of doing business and without needing Xu Dahai to say more, had already thought through everything, "When you get there, you can buy more stock. We can repay my sister later when we have enough together. Explain clearly to them; there’s no rush to come back, it’s okay to miss a day of setting up the stall."
Xu Dahai nodded in agreement, ate a meal, and then left the village.
He arrived in Nanyu by around four in the afternoon.
Chen Wenjun wasn’t there, but he had given Lin Qin Gao Lei’s contact information.
Knowing that he had made money, Lin Qin was happy for him and personally took him to the city to find Gao Lei.
Sure enough, the person had just returned and wasn’t in a hurry to leave, learning that Xu Dahai wanted to get goods.
Gao Lei was very straightforward and personally took them to the warehouse, "I specially rented this warehouse; it covers 5,000 square meters and also has some appliances. If you’re interested in this business, you can come to me."
He mainly deals in appliances; the clothing was just incidental. He had only been back for two days and wasn’t in a rush to sell, so the rest of the clothes and shoes were still piled up in the warehouse.
Xu Dahai was overjoyed.
With his first experience, he knew what goods sold well and quickly reported the styles he wanted to Gao Lei.
This time, he brought all his money and got over a thousand yuan’s worth of goods.
With Gao Lei’s help, he caught the last bus back.
Lin Qin had been busy all day; by the time she returned to Nanyu, it was already dark.
Seeing Lin Yi worried, she directly said, "It seems that brother-in-law’s business is doing quite well. This time he got over a thousand yuan of goods and asked Gao Lei to wait for him for a few days, saying he would come to get more. Gao Lei agreed readily and instructed his subordinates to save those goods for brother-in-law.
At this rate, brother-in-law will probably be able to repay the money he owes me within a month, and who knows, he might even make a fortune!"
Lin Yi heard this, and his eyes were filled with joy.
"Great, great, great! Now that their days are better, we can also feel more at ease."
Huang Yuezhen, listening on the side, was filled with envy, but she didn’t speak up at that moment.
Lin Qin just observed, and sure enough, four days later, Xu Dahai came again. This time he brought things to thank Lin Qin and see the baby.
"Is there still no news from the police station?"
Lin Qin nodded, "Captain Shen went to my cousin’s hometown to inquire, and sure enough, the couple hadn’t returned. The villagers all say they went out to work and won’t be back until the end of the year. My uncle and aunt should know something, but they firmly deny it, just saying my cousin’s wife isn’t pregnant and went to earn money.
Captain Shen can’t extract information by force, so he’s just tracking my cousin and his wife’s whereabouts. I guess they want to stake out in my cousin’s hometown, but it’s not easy; no one knows when the couple will appear, so the child can only stay at my house for now."
Xu Dahai’s face was grim as he entered the house and put down the things. He first went to see the child, holding them in his arms with great fondness, and vented by scolding Zhu Fugen and his wife.
Then, he went alone to Gao Lei’s warehouse.
By this time, Lin Qin and the kids had started school. She had to attend classes in the mornings and afternoons, so she couldn’t keep an eye on Xu Dahai’s situation.
She stayed busy until the last afternoon of the National Day holiday when Xu Dahai came again, this time not just bringing things but also fully repaying the 2,800 yuan he owed Lin Qin.
Lin Qin raised her eyebrows at the money, "Brother-in-law’s business is flourishing, huh!"
Huang Yuezhen was shocked, nearly popping her eyeballs out, "It’s just been a month, right? And you’ve already repaid over two thousand?"
Xu Dahai couldn’t stop smiling, nodding continuously, very moved, "I didn’t expect the business to be this good. After the new year, probably others will start following us by setting up stalls. Ah Ying and I discussed it and decided to stock up more while we can, asking Boss Gao to help us pick more best-selling goods, and maybe we can save up more, perhaps even renovate the house."
Actually, the couple already has enough saved to renovate the house, but since their house is already the best in the village, and now that they’re doing small business, if they renovate, others will surely be envious.
So, after discussing it, the couple decided not to move forward with it yet, waiting until other villagers start building houses before they renovate.
Now when others ask how much they’ve earned, they just say it’s not enough to clear debts, not daring to say much else.
This made Huang Yuezhen unable to sit still anymore, turning her head to Lin Qin and saying, "Ah Qin, do you think I should also wholesale some clothes to sell in our town?"
Lin Qin expressed her support, "There’s no problem with that, just that you won’t be doing the cooking job then?"
Huang Yuezhen was quite torn, "I haven’t decided yet. After all, for us rural folks, having a stable job in the city isn’t easy. Honestly, I’m quite reluctant to give up this job. The only bad thing is that the construction work can change at any time. This year, Boss Huang took on work that’s not far from our home; in the future, who knows where it will be? If it’s too far, commuting won’t be convenient.
Plus, I have three kids, the oldest is already fourteen, turning fifteen after the year. I still have to find ways to save money to build a house for him to get married. Before, I thought that with what Weimin and I made, it wasn’t bad, but compared to Dahai’s brother, it’s really nothing."
She always says what’s on her mind and doesn’t hold back or hide anything.
Lin Qin liked her straightforwardness, fully understanding the imbalance in Huang Yuezhen’s heart. After pondering for a while, she asked, "What’s your eldest doing now?"
Without a thought, Huang Yuezhen replied, "He stopped studying after middle school and is helping his grandparents farm. Otherwise, we couldn’t have come together. As I see it, only our youngest is good at studying, and our second seems not cut out for schooling. I’m telling him to at least finish middle school."
Lin Qin slapped her thigh, "Here’s what you do! This year, you’ll keep working for Boss Huang. Take half a month’s leave early before the year-end, bring a batch of goods to your county and see how it sells. If the business is good and promising, then quit after the New Year. Or have your eldest son run the stall while you continue cooking at the site, you can even send goods back to your hometown, covering both aspects.
All in all, it depends on whether you’re seeking stability or seeking wealth. Cooking on-site won’t make you rich, but Boss Huang is not someone who stays idle. If his projects keep getting bigger, he wouldn’t let long-time employees like you suffer.
Getting to know a businessman like Boss Huang isn’t easy for us either; these are your connections, it depends on your decision."
