Chapter 151: Registering Together
CHAPTER 151: CHAPTER 151: REGISTERING TOGETHER
Lin Ying looked dazed, "Is this really my house? Why does it feel like a dream!"
Lin Qin laughed, "Sis, we spent over twenty thousand on this place inside and out; you have to see the results, right!"
Lin Ying grinned widely, carefully looking around, and when she reached the sofa, she instinctively sat down, but the sofa sank, scaring her into bouncing up with a start, "What’s wrong with this chair?"
Lin Qin burst into laughter, "This is a sofa, it’s supposed to be this way. To match the house’s style, I specifically asked Gao Lei to find it, not cheap!"
This made Lin Ying even more reluctant to sit.
Lin Qin pulled her down, "It’s your money, what are you afraid of! Everything in this house is yours. I brought Ah Jian and Ah Kang over recently for a look, and the two kids were overjoyed. They even said this house would be for your retirement, and they want to earn money on their own."
Parents always love to hear their children set goals, whether they succeed or not, at least the kids have the ambition.
"Really! Then I’ll wait for the brothers to go to college and come back!" Lin Ying beamed with joy, and after calming down, she said, "Right now, in the town, our clothes are selling pretty well, just setting up a stall is a bit tiring, dealing with the wind and rain, and with Xinyi growing up, she’s not like when she was a kid and could just be slung on our back. Dahai and I discussed, and he suggested buying a piece of land in our town to build a house with a storefront, so we can live in town when we’re free, and the store can be open from morning till night without hassle.
I’m hesitating a bit now, do you think we should build this house, or should we come to the city and open a shop to sell clothes?"
Lin Ying was already persuaded by Xu Dahai, but seeing this house here made her hesitant again.
Lin Qin laughed, "What’s there to hesitate about! Put it this way! At this pace, your town might take twenty or thirty years to develop. If land is cheap now and your business is thriving, you should definitely buy land there, build a house, and open a store first.
The city doesn’t lack foot traffic, but it also doesn’t lack stores. If you want to come and sell clothes here, there’s no problem, but there’s more competition, and you’d have to start from scratch. We can’t ensure the business will definitely succeed, right?"
Lin Ying immediately understood, "Alright, alright, alright, no need to say more, I know what to do. Just spending more money isn’t a big deal! Spend it! The house won’t run away once it’s built, so let’s go with this plan!"
The sisters went shopping and bought some things. Lin Qin also took Lin Ying to see what clothes were fashionable in the city now, so she could consider which goods to choose.
By the time they returned to Nanyu with shopping bags in hand, it was almost dark.
The men at home were busy slaughtering chickens and ducks and handling seafood.
Huang Yuezhen was cooking, and the kitchen was bustling with activity.
The kids came back from the fields, picking a lot of vegetables and fruits, including lychees, mangoes, guavas, and even two pineapples.
Lin Qin quickly told the kids to wash their hands and then peel and clean the fruits.
Lin Ying, helping out, couldn’t help but exclaim, "Dad! It’s really nice here; you have everything you need, and almost all the food is free."
"Right! Almost all the fruit trees here have borne fruit this year, and we also have watermelons in the fridge! Take some out to eat, and bring back some when you leave. I know you don’t grow these there,"
Lin Yi said, increasingly delighted.
Lin Ying didn’t hold back, just joked, "Dad! Do you sell these fruits outside?"
Lin Yi nodded, "Of course! Although we don’t grow much, we have a variety. There are only so many people in the house, and we can’t finish it all. We send the excess to Guoxing Restaurant, and they make a fruit platter, which is considered a dish. In the hot summer, a lot of people like it.
If there’s more, we send it to the nursery, where they give the kids an afternoon snack. Everyone praises the fruits from our place, and occasionally, the Dang people in Nanxi come over to buy some. We earn a bit of extra money this way; the business is okay."
He relies on the produce from these lands, saving up five figures a year.
Seeing the excitement on Lin Yi’s face, Lin Ying immediately understood.
While chatting, the meal was almost ready. It was lavish, mostly seafood, and they still had to stew old duck soup and chicken soup for snacks later.
The kids were growing and always got hungry quickly, so Lin Qin didn’t control their supper intake.
The lively dinner party ended.
Early the next morning, Lin Ying and Xu Dahai took their little daughter and a bunch of fruits to the bus station to catch a bus.
Lin Qin packed her luggage and met up with Liu Ling to go to An City Normal College.
Although the college is in An City, it’s in the suburbs, opposite Nanyu. Lin Qin basically needs to cross the entire city to get there. Taking the bus is the fastest way, but Chen Wenjun could drive her with an electric tricycle as well.
However, Chen Wenjun was too busy with the seafood wholesale business and couldn’t rest unless there was a typhoon or extreme weather, which made it hard for him to explain to customers.
Lin Qin didn’t have Chen Wenjun take her; instead, she packed a few summer outfits into a woven bag and separately packed her enamel mug and other daily items before setting off.
Meeting Liu Ling at the bus station, Lin Qin was shocked at the amount of stuff Liu Ling brought, her eyes widening, "What are you doing?"
Liu Ling was on the verge of crying, "My grandma insists that the school’s environment is bad and made me bring the grass mats from home. These should be available near the school, but she insists, saying I’ve become complacent after earning some pocket money, making me move everything from home over."
Lin Qin couldn’t help but laugh, quickly helping her get the luggage onto the bus.
Fortunately, they arrived early to report, and since this was a short-distance bus, not many brought much luggage, or else there wouldn’t have been enough space.
After a bit of hassle, the two finally sat down in their seats.
Liu Ling, full of expectations and excitement, whispered to Lin Qin, "Sis, guess how much I earned this month from the stall?"
Lin Qin had already noticed that Liu Ling was dressed in new outfits, her shoes were leather, not cheap ones, "How much?"
Liu Ling, suppressing her joyful feelings, said modestly, "Sixteen hundred."
Lin Qin immediately gave her a thumbs-up; compared to Lin Ying’s family, this profit seemed small, but for Liu Ling, who previously had no experience earning money, it was a fortune.
Receiving Lin Qin’s approval, Liu Ling beamed even brighter, "After doing the math, I was surprised myself. I shared the situation with my grandma and parents, and they also found it incredible, but mostly relieved, since I need living expenses for college, which is a strain on my parents. With this money, they’re much more at ease.
I’ve decided, come winter break, I’ll set up the stall again, sell clothes, and save for next semester’s living expenses."
Seeing her full of determination was uplifting, prompting Lin Qin to remark, "You’re the same age as Liu Li and practically grew up together, why is she lagging so far behind?"
