Back to 1984: Let's Work Hard Together to Raise The Kids!
Chapter 155: Each Makes Their Own Choice
CHAPTER 155: CHAPTER 155: EACH MAKES THEIR OWN CHOICE
Zhang Hong and Du Juanhua come from ordinary farming families. Their family conditions aren’t great, but they are resilient and can endure hardship. Although they look exhausted, they don’t show it. Ge Qiuyue probably comes from an ordinary family as well, but as she’s already married and become a mom, she’s faced more challenges than a young girl, so she can handle the fatigue from military training.
As for herself, there’s no need to say much. The difficulty of military training is nothing compared to the hardships she’s faced before.
Bai Junjun looked around and had to accept the fact that she was the weakest.
While the six of them were eating, other seniors and senior sisters came to the canteen to distribute club brochures. This time, they learned about seven or eight clubs at once.
Except for Du Juanhua, who was determined to join the classical poetry club, the others were swayed.
Ge Qiuyue pondered and said, "The student council looks good. It seems to be full of capable people. If I had to choose, it would be the student council."
Lin Qin gave her a thumbs up, "Good eye, the student council has a lot of power, including dorm inspections and various school affairs, as well as assisting teachers and counselors.
If you get in, work well, you’ll certainly become familiar with the teachers and counselors, making it easier to deal with things, and it could even expedite joining the Party, which might help with job assignments in the future."
Everyone looked at Lin Qin in shock.
"Sister Qin, how do you know so much?" Bai Junjun voiced everyone’s question.
Lin Qin smiled without saying a word. She couldn’t tell them she was reborn, and in her past life, Liu Yongming often boasted about school matters to show off his superiority. She learned a lot of things from Liu Yongming.
Ge Qiuyue clenched her fist, her gaze growing firmer, "I’ve decided, I’m signing up for the student council."
Zhou Xue couldn’t find the Taekwondo club at school, so she decided to join the student council with Ge Qiuyue.
Bai Junjun took a liking to the girls’ club and planned to join it.
Du Juanhua, seeing her friends change their minds, breathed a silent sigh of relief but felt a bit anxious as well. She quickly grabbed Zhang Hong’s arm beside her, "Zhang Hong, let’s join the classical poetry club together, we should have a companion."
Zhang Hong hesitated, "After hearing what Sister Qin said, I think joining the student council is more useful. How about we join the student council together?"
The classical poetry club seems to be just for fun, without any practical use.
Du Juanhua tightened her expression and silently let go of Zhang Hong’s hand, awkwardly laughing, "I’ll think about it."
Everyone was so exhausted that nobody noticed Du Juanhua’s odd expression.
Back in the dorm, everyone lay down and quickly fell asleep.
Military training continued in the afternoon.
After it ended, Lin Qin went back to the dorm with them and cut up a watermelon for them, "Eat to relieve your fatigue. I’m heading home now, see you tomorrow. Oh, by the way, what fruit do you want to eat tomorrow?"
Ge Qiuyue waved her hands repeatedly, "No no no, we can’t keep eating your stuff every day!"
Lin Qin playfully scolded, "It’s just some fruits, no big deal! Besides, fruits are seasonal. At this time, there’s a lot, but after a while, even if I wanted to bring you some, I couldn’t! No need to be polite with me! If you don’t tell me, I’ll just bring what I think of."
After some mutual politeness with Lin Qin, they watched her leave, exchanged puzzled glances, and ate watermelon while complimenting it, discussing the clubs again.
In a blink of an eye, a week of military training ended, and the freshmen were several shades darker.
The girls started worrying about skincare and whitening again.
Lin Qin saw a business opportunity, discussed it with Liu Ling, and the two contacted Gao Lei to bring back some whitening cosmetics from Guangdong Province.
Since they needed them urgently, the items arrived in their hands in three days.
The two of them started promoting them in each room of the girls’ dormitory, and quite a few people bought them.
Even Bai Junjun and Zhou Xue ordered two jars each from Lin Qin. They weren’t short of money, which Lin Qin understood, but it surprised her that Du Juanhua secretly bought a jar as well.
However, she arranged for it privately with Lin Qin, keeping it a secret from the others, and Lin Qin didn’t let it slip either.
Because of this, Du Juanhua was especially grateful to her.
After military training ended, Lin Qin officially started her university life and checked out the clubs. Ultimately, she chose the journalism club.
This decision startled the 301 dormitory once again.
But Lin Qin was used to being unique, so people didn’t question it.
Compared to other clubs, the journalism club was relatively busy. Each new member was required to submit a news article once a week, which could cover campus updates or track social hot topics.
Lin Qin’s first news article was about the new students’ feelings post-military training, following the current trend.
With the president’s guidance, after two revisions, it was published on campus.
Bai Junjun excitedly held the newspaper, spreading the word in their floor of the girls’ dormitory. Even Lin Qin, who usually had a thick skin, felt a bit embarrassed and quickly dragged Bai Junjun back, "Girl, I’m really touched by how you’re promoting me, so I’m planning to treat you to a meal. But let’s not be this over-the-top next time, okay?"
Bai Junjun shook her head seriously, "That’s not possible! This is the campus weekly! I asked around, and it’s rare for a freshman to get their article published on the first go! We must promote it well, let everyone know we have a big journalist in room 301! It’s our glory!"
Lin Qin, laughing and crying, quickly changed the subject, "If you work hard in the girls’ club, you’ll also become our dorm’s pride one day."
"Definitely! I’ve signed up for the National Day performance, and I’ll wow the audience then!" Bai Junjun said confidently, twirling around.
Lin Qin gave her a thumbs up.
Zhou Xue said, "Great! You guys handle the performance, and we’ll take care of setting up the stage, maintaining order, all the dirty and hard work will be left to us."
"You three together, no worries!" Bai Junjun laughed confidently with her hands on her hips.
The others laughed along.
Zhang Hong looked at the silent Du Juanhua, "Juanhua, your classical poetry club seems to have sign-ups too, do you want to go on stage?"
Du Juanhua froze for a moment, then shook her head, "I...I can’t do anything, I won’t go embarrass myself."
As soon as she said that, the entire dorm fell silent.
Du Juanhua might have realized she dampened the mood, so she quickly took her book and headed to the library.
Lin Qin looked puzzled, "What’s up with Juanhua? She got into the classical poetry club as she wished. Why does she seem unhappy?"
Bai Junjun joked, "Is it because Zhang Hong didn’t join the classical poetry club with her?"
Zhang Hong was startled and quickly denied, "It’s not related to me! We all agreed on joining the student council together, but she didn’t get in and went to the classical poetry club instead, which wasn’t my doing! And she was so happy back then, always grinning, it’s only been the past couple of days that she’s been off."
"What’s going on..." Ge Qiuyue mumbled, planning to ask Du Juanhua later.
Lin Qin, on the other hand, showed brief concern but didn’t ask further. She never liked involving herself in such matters.
More effort should be placed on important things.
And in no time, something happened.
