Back to 1984: Let's Work Hard Together to Raise The Kids!
Chapter 159: Bountiful Harvest
CHAPTER 159: CHAPTER 159: BOUNTIFUL HARVEST
Upon entering the yacht, you find yourself in a first-floor dining area with carpeted floors. One side is the chef’s cooking zone, and the other is the dining area, probably about fifty to sixty square meters, lavishly decorated with an aura of European nobility from the last century.
You can access the front deck or the fishing areas on either side through the dining hallway.
Mr. Stephen, being an avid fishing enthusiast, has equipped the yacht with the most advanced fishing gear. The fishing line can be cast out, and once a fish bites, you simply turn the handle to reel it in without worrying about being dragged into the sea by a big fish.
The four children’s eyes lit up at the sight of everything.
Seeing the kids’ reactions, Mr. Stephen was quite proud, introducing the tools in broken Chinese and said, "Let’s have a competition! Let me see if you lucky ones can continue your streak. If you win, I’ll give you a mysterious prize, and you can keep all the fish you catch."
Yaya tilted her head and curiously asked, "Uncle, what if we lose?"
Everyone turned to look at Mr. Stephen.
He just shrugged with a smile, winking playfully, "If you lose, some people will have to worry."
Boss Lv and a few others were on edge, nervously watching the four children.
Since there were eight fishing spots on the yacht, some impatient staff members expressed their desire to join in the fun.
Mr. Stephen agreed happily.
Lin Qin wanted to join in but wasn’t comfortable leaving the four kids unattended, so she stayed behind them, ready to step in if anything seemed off.
The yacht sailed towards the open sea.
Lin Qin quietly asked Boss Lv, "Where are we going?"
"Reef Island. There’s plenty of seafood there, and it’s all big catches," Boss Lv said casually, revealing how familiar he was with the area through his demeanor.
Lin Qin nodded in silence, fully immersed in enjoying the scenery on the sea.
Soon, the yacht reached the area Boss Lv mentioned.
Mr. Stephen eagerly baited and cast the first line.
He used professional fishing bait. The yacht offered a wide variety of baits, which the curious children couldn’t understand, leaving Lin Qin a bit puzzled.
Even if given to them, they wouldn’t be able to fish.
Remembering the seafood prep in the dining area earlier, Yaya and Ping’an cheerfully went off to ask for some small fish, shrimp, and seafood scraps.
The chef kindly gave them a bucket of relatively clean small fish and shrimp.
The four kids used these items to fish.
Mr. Stephen saw this but didn’t say anything, merely offering a kind reminder, "Big fish won’t be interested in such small shrimp."
The four children probably didn’t pay it any mind, nodding perfunctorily as they continued fishing.
Before long, Ping’an’s bobber showed some movement, and in the blink of an eye, his fishing line went taut.
One government staff member, who had been closely watching them, jumped up excitedly, cheering and shouting, "It’s caught, it’s caught!"
"Quick, quick, reel it in!"
Following Mr. Stephen’s instructions, Ping’an turned the handle to reel in the line. With his limited strength, Lin Qin came over to help. Together, after exerting a great deal of effort, they finally saw a big fish gradually rising to the surface.
Boss Lv exclaimed, "Wow! It’s a sea bass! And a big sea bass at that! Oh my, this child is amazing!"
The staff quickly fetched a net, and soon, the five-to-six-kilogram sea bass was lifted aboard.
With professionals handling the process, they could continue fishing.
This fish gave everyone tremendous confidence. Soon after, Yaya also had some action on her line.
This time, it was a big tiger grouper, which left Mr. Stephen repeatedly astonished, "These are heaven’s angels, heaven’s blessings! Why doesn’t heaven favor me?"
Lin Qin stifled her laughter, and then on Xu Jian and Xu Kang’s side, there was movement too. Both caught sea bass.
Lin Qin murmured, "Could it be a sea bass nest we stumbled upon? Isn’t there anything else?"
Boss Lv was at a loss for words, "Sister, we haven’t caught any decent seafood for days. Your four kids bringing in these sizable catches is already amazing; don’t be unsatisfied!"
Seeing how envious he was, Lin Qin decided to keep quiet.
As Lin Qin and Boss Lv chatted, Yaya and Ping’an caught more, once again sea bass.
Having caught three or four sea bass, the children grew a bit bored. Fortunately, Xu Jian caught a red snapper.
The kids were re-energized, determined to catch different types of big fish, and thus became picky with the small fish and shrimp.
This operation truly opened Mr. Stephen’s eyes. He decisively abandoned his professional baits in favor of the children’s small fish and shrimp.
Lo and behold, this time he finally made a catch.
After three hours of play, everyone was tired.
The accompanying government personnel, seeing the full fishbox, were grinning from ear to ear.
The staff were in high spirits and sought Mr. Stephen’s opinion on taking photos for mementos.
Mr. Stephen readily agreed and even asked them to include the fish in the pictures.
They took a couple of large group photos, and Mr. Stephen also took two separate ones with the four children and Lin Qin.
The four kids took a photo together as well.
In gratitude for Lin Qin’s help, Boss Lv also took a single photo of Lin Qin.
After the photo session, Mr. Stephen treated everyone to a seafood feast onboard.
When the yacht docked, he gifted each of the four kids a set of professional fishing gear and safety equipment, and packed their caught fish for Lin Qin to take home.
After bidding farewell to Mr. Stephen and his party, the four children, still full of excitement, bounced around discussing the fishing tools.
Lin Qin sat with them by the seaside at South Port, watching the sunset, waiting for Chen Wenjun’s motorboat to arrive, and casually chatting with Hong Weimin.
"Cousin, I heard from my cousin-in-law that Shaoyang is doing quite well with his stall back home. Have you considered building or buying a house?"
Hong Weimin laughed heartily, nodding vigorously, "Of course! That stall was set up with Shaoyang and his grandma, so they sell both old and young clothing. And let me tell you, clothing for middle-aged and elderly people is quite in demand where we are.
My mom thinks the village is too remote. She’s planning to buy land and build a house in the county. Buying land in our county is quick, and we can get registered there, which would make it easier for Shaohua and Shaorou to go to school later.
It also helps us avoid relatives from the village, preventing any snide remarks or repeated borrowing requests that we can’t fulfill."
Lin Qin nodded in understanding. Village relatives are like that—begrudge those who have, laugh at those who don’t, with few genuinely wishing you well.
Staying low-key is the way for steady, lasting prosperity.
As she spoke, the children, with their sharp eyes, were the first to spot Chen Wenjun’s boat.
Lin Qin cut the conversation short, stood up, and waved towards the motorboat.
As soon as the boat docked, the four kids couldn’t wait to share their sea fishing adventure with Chen Wenjun.
Chen Wenjun was envious, "It’s a pity I’m too busy. Otherwise, I could have joined you guys and learned a thing or two today."
Yaya promptly said, "When I grow up, I’ll buy Dad a yacht and take him sea fishing."
Hearing this, the adults burst into laughter.
