Back to the 1970s: Building My Fortune Through Time Trading
Chapter 24: Fighting Hard but Never Fatal
CHAPTER 24: CHAPTER 24: FIGHTING HARD BUT NEVER FATAL
Su Xiaoxiao was puzzled: "You’re still sick, why are you going to Second Aunt’s house?"
Given her Second Aunt’s nature, going there would only lead to trouble. Isn’t this just asking for trouble for no reason?
"Silly child, your Second Aunt has a cousin who is a small leader at the department store. If we give him some gifts, maybe your matter could really go through."
"Mom, I can get into the department store on my own merits."
Even if she couldn’t get in, Su Xiaoxiao didn’t want to rely on Zhang Guifang.
"You silly child, why are you so stubborn?"
Liu Cuilan was frustrated beyond measure.
After her injection, she was feeling much better, so Su Xiaoxiao helped her home.
The two chatted as they walked, when suddenly a person appeared in front of them.
"Cuilan, I didn’t know that shrew came to bother you. Are you okay?"
The man in front looked to be in his forties, with neatly combed oily short hair, wearing a white shirt, army green pants, and shiny black leather shoes, looking like a leader.
In the village, there was no need to guess who was so flamboyant—it had to be Sun Hongjun, the scoundrel father of Sun Wenbing.
The father-son pair aren’t lacking in names with righteous connotations, but the people themselves really don’t live up to such good names.
When Sun Hongjun saw Su Xiaoxiao, a look of amazement flashed in his eyes, but then he looked at Liu Cuilan.
Relatively speaking, he was still more fond of Liu Cuilan.
Though she was older and had fine lines at the corners of her eyes, her face was still beautiful, which made him unable to forget her all these years.
There’s a saying that what you can’t have is always the best.
That’s exactly how Sun Hongjun felt about Liu Cuilan.
"This is Xiaoxiao? She’s grown into a big girl."
He praised without restraint and, as he spoke, pulled out two White Rabbit candies from his pocket, smiling at Su Xiaoxiao: "Here, girl, have some candy."
Su Xiaoxiao didn’t want to eat anything from him; just thinking about it made her sick. She was worried eating it might upset her stomach.
Seeing she had no intention of taking it, Sun Hongjun wasn’t embarrassed, stuffing the candy back into his pocket and looking intensely at Liu Cuilan: "Cuilan, can we talk alone?"
Liu Cuilan was too lazy to bother with him, speaking in disgust: "Get lost!"
"Cuilan, don’t be like this. After all, we used to..."
Before he could finish, Liu Cuilan slapped him: "Don’t talk about the past, it’s disgusting."
"Old Three, let’s go."
She was about to leave, pulling Su Xiaoxiao with her, but after walking only a few steps, someone blocked their way.
"Great, you old whore still dare to seduce my man?"
Zhang Guilan rushed out like a mad dog, trying to grab Liu Cuilan’s hair.
Su Xiaoxiao skillfully stuck out her foot, and with a thud, the agressor fell flat on her face.
"You darn girl, you dare trip me?"
She got up, trying to rush forward again, but Sun Hongjun directly grabbed her arm: "Crazy woman, what are you doing?"
Sun Hongjun’s face had a red slap mark, angrily glaring at Zhang Guilan.
"Great, you Sir Sun, I stand up for you, and you’re protecting that old whore?"
"What nonsense are you talking?"
Sun Hongjun raised his hand and slapped her.
Zhang Guilan’s eyes instantly reddened: "You dog of a man, you dare hit me?"
The two immediately started fighting fiercely.
Su Xiaoxiao clicked her tongue; this couple was certainly a piece of work. Before she even had to act, they had already started tearing each other apart.
"Mom, let’s go. This is pointless; they won’t kill each other with just fighting."
Her words almost made Zhang Guilan explode: "What did you say, you darn girl?"
Su Xiaoxiao didn’t bother to pay her any mind, rolling her eyes so Zhang Guilan could ponder on her own, and proceeded to help Liu Cuilan leave.
Before the two even got home, they saw two little brothers squatting on either side of the doorstep, feeling a hint of emotion.
But before they could fully appreciate it, they overheard the conversation between the little brothers.
Su Jianwu: "Fourth Brother, when do you think Mom and Third Sister will come back? I’m starving."
Su Jianwen swallowed some saliva: "Should be soon."
Darn, the emotional moment was all false; they were really waiting for buns and roast chicken.
Su Xiaoxiao helped Liu Cuilan over, delivering a kick to each brother’s backside.
Before the little brothers could complain, they saw their Third Sister and Liu Cuilan, their eyes lighting up immediately: "Third Sister, Mom, we missed you so much."
Su Xiaoxiao: "Ha, you’re missing the food."
The two little brothers sheepishly scratched their heads, following the pair into the house.
Xu Zhaodi saw them return and quickly brought out the reheated food.
"Third Sister, Mom, can we eat now?"
The two little brothers attentively helped move chairs for them.
The brown-nosing posture was too much for Su Xiaoxiao to bear.
"Go ahead and eat."
With Liu Cuilan’s permission, the two promptly grabbed a meat bun each, ready to reach for another. Liu Cuilan promptly slapped their hands: "One bun each, if it’s not enough, eat cornbread."
The two little brothers: "..."
After eating, Su Xiaoxiao ran to the courtyard to check on the dried mugwort, reaching out to test it; it was basically dry and ready to ship.
But seeing the piled-up mugwort in the courtyard, she couldn’t help but worry.
Recently, the little brothers were enthusiastically earning money, pulling mugwort every day after school, and the mugwort within several miles was practically bald.
The problem was, with so much mugwort, when would she ever finish plucking the leaves?
As she was worrying, she heard the familiar sound of a message notification.
She immediately logged on, good heavens, there were over thirty messages, with more than a dozen from the Hair Loss Warrior.
"Hey, sis, are you there, are you there?"
"Your sausage recipe is absolutely amazing."
...
Su Xiaoxiao briefly glanced over; the elder brother had sent over ten messages, but only two contained useful information—the rest were nonsense.
The first was that the sausage recipe was great; he had been selling sausages for years but never received good reviews before.
The second was that to express his gratitude, he was sending Su Xiaoxiao ten pounds of sausage and 150 packets of anti-hair loss shampoo.
Su Xiaoxiao: "..."
Couldn’t more sausage be sent instead? Why send her anti-hair loss shampoo when she still had over two hundred packets in her bag?
The elder brother was always generous. After reading the message, she heard the delivery arrival notification.
Su Xiaoxiao clicked to receive them, watching as the two hundred-plus shampoo packets turned into over four hundred.
Selling them all would be impossible, simply impossible.
She reasonably suspected the elder brother was using her to clear out inventory.
Now she could only hope the product works somewhat so she could get more endorsements from the two clients who had used it.
Meanwhile, the first unlucky—uh, customer—who bought the anti-hair loss shampoo was presently staring at it perplexedly.
Zhou Cheng had been so busy chatting with Su Xiaoxiao that he hadn’t noticed what the shampoo was for.
Now, holding it, he realized it was for preventing hair loss.
He looked at his thick hair in the mirror; didn’t seem like he’d be prone to losing hair, did it?
Was the girl misunderstanding something about him?
As he was pondering this, an excited voice came from outside the door.
