Back to the 60s: The Struggle Career of a Charmed Wife
Chapter 1887: Repaying a Great Kindness 3
Feng Qingyun has always been wholeheartedly devoted to her elder sister, who raised her.
The most valuable items in the suitcase all belonged to Feng Qingxue, without exception.
Not to mention anything else, just the exquisite ladies' watch in platinum studded with diamonds was quite valuable. Under the lights, it sparkled brilliantly, almost blinding Fubao, who was squatting in front of the suitcase with her chin in her hands.
"Wow, so beautiful, Mom, it's a hundred times prettier than your old Rolex!" Though lavish, it wasn't gaudy.
Looking at these two boxes of items, Feng Qingxue frowned, "Has Xiaoyun struck it rich? Where did she get so much money to buy things? Studying art can be quite expensive. From what you guys are saying, even the gifts for Jiaoyang are not cheap."
Gold has a price, and the amount of gold taken abroad isn't worth much. Overseas, prices aren't as low as in China.
Adrian shrugged, "Xue, you don't have to worry; Yun is a very diligent and capable girl. I heard from Christine that when she first arrived in France, she was juggling work and study, sometimes holding three jobs in one day! Later, she was promoted by her teacher and started making a name for herself in the music industry. She would earn some income by performing or doing street performances. She even acted in a movie, playing a Chinese girl, and has done some commercials, earning quite a good sum. Now that she's famous, her income is even higher."
Hearing this, Feng Qingxue felt a pang of heartache.
Foreigners often look down on people from their own country, and many people abroad are treated as second-class citizens. People from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan all look down on mainland Chinese. If it weren't for wanting to learn more, Feng Qingxue really didn't want her sister to go overseas and face such discrimination.
In such circumstances, Feng Qingyun still had to work to earn money; it was really tough for her.
Luckily, Li Jiaoyang had to work and left the hotel early in the morning; otherwise, hearing Adrian's words, he would definitely have felt upset.
"It's a good thing Auntie is coming back next year; she won't have to work so hard once she's back," Fubao patted her chest and sighed. "Knowing how hard Auntie's working makes me feel guilty accepting the gifts she sent! I'd rather not have these beautiful clothes and shoes than have Auntie work so many jobs."
"Who wouldn't agree with that!" Dundun frowned.
Lu Erxiong, not having seen any toys, initially felt disappointed. But after hearing his mother and siblings' words, he covered his mouth with both hands, afraid to express his opinion, fearing they would get mad at him and think he was an ungrateful bad child.
Adrian simply said, "It's quite normal; after eighteen, one should start supporting oneself. Even when I was a kid, I frequently worked."
Feng Qingxue sighed softly. Unlike the children, she understood some basic situations abroad and just felt distressed because she herself had never worked so many jobs.
"Thank you, Adrian, thank you for bringing the items and letters to us."
If they were sent by mail, we likely wouldn't have received them this year.
"You're welcome. You're Yun's sister, which makes you my friend, and friends should help each other." After saying this, Adrian turned and went into his own suite, pulling out a suitcase and opening it. From inside, he took out two different styles of Hermes handbags, perfumes, silk scarves, wallets, and such things. "I almost forgot; Christine asked me to bring you these gifts."
Feng Qingxue was taken aback, "Please thank Christine on my behalf when you get back. After so many years, she still remembers me. Oh no, I'll write a letter and prepare some gifts. I'll trouble you to bring them to her when the time comes."
Exchanging gifts maintains a long-term relationship; she didn't really like taking advantage of others.
"No problem, I'm not going back for a long time; we'll meet in the capital then."
