Chapter b334 /b

Author’s POV:

“I wasn’t talking about that,” Ethan suddenly said. “I was asking… your soul residing in this body–does it feel ufortable? Does it fit well? Could there be some kind of rejection reaction?”

Jade looked up to see worry gradually surfacing in his eyes. His mind had gone to organ transnts–how even with good initial matching, patients might experience rejectionter. She finally understood the source of his earlier unease,

“So far, there’s no difort at all,” she replied, meeting his gaze. “It feelspletely like my own body. It’s different from organ transntation principles.”

Ethan’s face remained troubled. Unable to experience this supernatural phenomenon firsthand, his mind was filled with anxious thoughts -perhaps imagining her soul suddenly leaving this body.

“No one can predict the future,” Jade said with unexpected lightness. “This life was borrowed to begin with. I cherish it, but I don’t fear death.”

Her casual eptance seemed to increase his distress. Perhaps he was thinking that before she finished her battle with the Shadow Organization, her soul might reject this body.

A teasing smile touched her lips. “Having regrets? If something happens to me, you’ll get nothing in return.”

Ethan stared intensely into her eyes, then lowered his head to kiss her forehead. He moved closer, gently rubbing his nose against hers and her cheeks. Seeing the smile in her eyes, he visibly fought to suppress his anxiety.

“I do regret,” he smiled. “So can I now…”

“Toote,” she cut him off.

He didn’t respond with words. Instead, his hand caressed her face, and he kissed her again, murmuring between kisses, “I’ll salvage what I

can.”

Jade didn’t stop him, allowing him to savor this sweet moment.

When he finally pulled away, he asked, “So can you honestly tell me–is it the former or thetter?”

Was it because she had feelings for him and acted on impulse, even if those feelings didn’t amount to love? Or was it to repay him, possibly followed by cutting ties?

She answered truthfully: “Both.” Perhaps the former even more than thetter.

“I wasn’t nning to cut ties,” she added.

Ethan smiled, finally rxing as he realized their earlier beye /bcontact hadn’t been a standoff. “Now I regret even more,” he said, his expression full of mock remorse.

She tugged slightly at the corner of her mouth, pulled the nket up, adjusted her position, and prepared to sleep.

A monthter, Jade’s injuries hadrgely healed. For two or three months, she’d been moving around Africa, ying cat and mouse with the Shadow Organization.

Two weeks ago, she left Ethiopia, made her way to Soma, and now had reached Tanzania. Night and Chris Jensen had already secured a vi there, waiting for her to join them.

The Shadow Organization still couldn’t pinpoint Jade’s location, let alone assassinate her. Those “lucky enough to track her never returned. With her wounds mostly healed, they were even more hesitant to engage directly. Beyond remote assassination attempts, they wouldn’t risk facing her head–on.

The vi was under tight security, equipped with military–grade systems and aerial radar monitoring. Miguel arrived with the robot Maxi, iming, “The boss sent me to wait for him here.”

He nervously eyed the guns pointed at him.

Nightzily raised an eyebrow. “Your boss? Who?”

Sloane and Maverick arrived, responding to themotion. “Miguel,” they acknowledged.

Miguel’s eyes lit up. “Hey!” He quickly pointed between Sloane, Maverick, and himself, exining to Night, “We’re together.”

Night’s expression darkened. “Ethan Haxton’s men? Perfect timing–take him.”

Confused, Miguel had his arms roughly twisted behind his back. “Easy, easy, easy…” he protested.

Held by Night’s men, Miguel looked at Sloane and Maverick, who stood motionless behind Night. “You guys turned traitor?” he asked, bewildered.

Sloane and Maverick exchanged nces, speechless.

“There must be some misunderstanding,” Miguel hurriedly told Night. “Aren’t Mr. Haxton and Mrs. Haxton your friends?”

Chris Jensen raised an eyebrow. “Mrs. Haxton? Who?”

“Jade Morgan,” Miguel answered.

“Shoot him,” Night ordered immediately.

Two guards responded, “Yes, sir.”

Miguel’s eyes widened in terror. “Wait! We can talk this through! Mrs. Haxton really sent me!”

Night’s face visibly darkened. “Shoot him now! Didn’t you hear me?b” /b

Miguel braced his legs against the floor, struggling against the two guards. “Come on, guys, don’t do this.”

Sloane and Maverick quickly stepped forward, blocking Miguel’s path to execution.

Sloane nced apologetically at Miguel, then addressed Night respectfully: “He speaks without thinking. Please forgive his offense, Mr. Night.”

Without Mr. Haxton or Miss Morgan here, they had no backup on someone else’s territory. Better to swallow their pride.

Honest to a fault, Miguel told Sloane, “I’m not speaking without thinking. Everything I said is true. Mrs. Haxton really-

Night grabbed a guard’s gun, cocked it, and aimed directly at Miguel. “I’ll fucking kill you myself.”

Miguel shut his mouth instantly, hiding behind Sloane when Night seized the weapon.

He finally realized “Mrs. Haxton” was a trigger word that made this man murderous.

Sloane stared at the gun barrel, breathing tensely, inwardly cursing Miguel. Through their time here, Sloane had learned Night’s temperament–vtile and dangerous.

He constantly cursed their Mr. Haxton despite him saving Miss Morgan. Whenever Night insulted Mr. Haxtonb, /bSloane could only bite his tongue helplessly.

This guy would definitely point a gun at Mr. Haxton’s head if he were here in person. fn075f Checktest chapters at Find★Novel/fn075f

Truly arrogant.

A guard reported, “Sir, there’s a robot outside. It has some dangerous features we couldn’t fully scanb, /bso we didn’t bring it in.”

Chris Jensen asked, “A robot? Probably Jade’s, right?”

Miguel nodded vigorously at Chris Jensen.

Hearing it was Jade’s property, Night’s anger immediately subsided. He ordered his men to bring the robot inside.

Miguel, seeing Night’s dramatic change in attitude, felt relief that his life might be spared.

Just as he began to rx, a terrible realization struck him. That robot…

Though it belonged to Jade, it spoke with his boss’s voice!

This guy was clearly his boss’s rival. If he heard the voice, wouldn’t Miguel be torn to pieces?

As Miguel worried, the robot was already being brought in.

Chris Jensen asked, “This is it?”

Miguel nodded and shook his head simultaneously.

Chris Jensen and Night exchanged nces.

10:36 Fri, bOct /bb3 /bM.

Such a crude, clumsy robot belonged to Jade? With her abilities and talent, even a failed prototype shouldn’t be this basic.

Perhaps it was her first creation? That would make it quite valuable as a memento.

Night carefully examined the robot, smiling. “How adorable. Baby’s taste is getting more charming.”

With Jade’s name attached, Night automatically applied a thick filter of admiration to everything associated with her.

The robot Maxi’s electronic eyes scanned the room, located the detained Miguel, and detected the dangerous situation. However, it didn’t immediately initiate rescue protocols, focusing instead on other concerns.

“Well, since my boss isn’t here yet, I won’t disturb you. I’lle back when he arrives, okay?” Miguel said, nning to rush the robot out before it could speak.
