CHAPTER 72: CHAPTER 72: RIVEN’S REWARD

I reviewed the loot and saw that they had gathered almost everything needed for the guild hall. At this rate, it would be quite simple. However, upon checking the resource status, I noticed a problem.

The main missing resources were wood and stone. I thought it would take a long time to get and haul all those materials, but then Jayde approached.

"What’s wrong, Jax? Are you checking something?" she asked in a soft voice, seeing me focused on the air.

"I’m just checking how much we still need for the guild hall," I replied, showing her the figures. "Do you think we’re not missing much with all we’ve gotten?"

Jayde looked at the numbers curiously. "We’re missing quite a bit, aren’t we?"

"Yes, especially the wood and stone. I don’t know how long it will take to haul all those resources," I sighed.

A smile appeared on her face. "You don’t have to worry about that, Jax. There are more than 10,000 dogkins here, strong males. Besides, they’re experts at felling trees and mining. It shouldn’t be difficult for them."

A spark lit up in my eyes. "That’s true...". The resource problem seemed to have a fairly simple solution.

Jayde’s face lit up and she jumped like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

"I forgot what I came for, I’m sorry, Jax... Riven sent me to tell you that everything is ready for us to head back to the village."

The news made me happy, and without a second thought, I opened the guild map. I selected an area, marking it as the new dogkin territory. It was right where the goblin tribe had settled, it had some small mountains and I hoped I could transport the rock from there, in addition to felling the forest that divided our village from that place, connecting them with a road.

I approached Senda and told her my plans. "I have a mission for you. I know we didn’t start on the right foot and you’re quite upset with me, but you must understand that your matriarch summoned that monster to try to kill us. So I needed to enact a punishment."

Senda’s gaze was still full of resentment, looking at the ground without daring to meet my eyes. I extended my hand and gently lifted her chin, making our gazes meet.

"I’m not a monster, I won’t do anything to you or your clan, I promise... Besides, I can tell you I’m a big fan of your cute ears, I wouldn’t let anything happen to them...".

Senda turned her face away, still looking at the ground while clenching her teeth tightly.

"I have this mission for you: I want you to clear the forest to build a road between our village and yours, and to take care of mining the rock from the mountains. I hope you can help me, and for now, I will cancel your tribute and the other obligations of your clan. I’m sure you’ll see that dealing with me is easier than with that demon."

Senda kept her gaze on the ground and replied that she agreed, that they would take care of what I had asked. After saying that, she fell silent again, looking at the ground. I didn’t want to force anything in our first meeting, so I decided to leave. I approached Riven, who greeted me energetically.

"All set, sir. We can leave at any time."

"Excellent. Tell everyone to head back to the village. I have already informed Manaia to make the necessary arrangements for Senda."

"She’s not staying with her tribe?" Riven asked, with a raised eyebrow.

"Even though I’m not a slaver and I won’t treat them with too much violence, I can’t be too lenient with them, or they might get the idea to rebel. I need to show them that they are still slaves and are not free," I explained.

Riven chuckled. "Jealous? Absolutely not. I’m confident in myself and I know you’ll fall for me one of these days...".

I approached Riven and hugged her while kissing her passionately. Our tongues danced as I completely explored her mouth.

"Help me coordinate tearing down most of the empty huts. The dogkin will start transporting the material for the guild hall, and we’ll need space," I whispered, pulling away a little to catch my breath.

"Mmmm... and what’s my reward?"

"Tell me what you would like as a reward."
