CHAPTER 22: CHAPTER 22: WARNING FROM THE MAMMOTH

Note: Telepathy and other mental communications will be in ’a’ single quotes and italic font

----------------------------------------------------------

The mammoths continued to look at him without moving. It eyes held a glimmer of intelligence one would not expect from a wild animal then he felt something try to invade his mind. He tried to resist and it was hard, he felt as if he was trying to stop a speeding train.

Then he realised he felt no malice from it so he stopped resisting then a voice echoed in his mind. ’ Telepathy? No, it not’ he was not sure but it did not feel like telepathy.

He could understand the mammoths intentions but it was not talking to him. It was as if it was conveying a message through will, using intentions and feelings but not words. ’ Is this the power of a rank 3 ?’

Although the message wasn’t clear he was still able to understand it, this was the closest he had ever gotten to communicating with something ever since he reincarnated.

’ mine...leave...die’ it looked at the two fruits, that message was clear enough. The fruits were his, he should leave or die. No matter how confident he was he knew he couldn’t win.

The aura emanating from this creature was too much, it was not just it rank but it bloodline as well, it was sky grade like him though it felt like it was a level lower.

He knew he wouldn’t be able to last a few seconds against it. It aura alone placed a tremendous pressure on him. He valued his life more than any treasure so he turned around and left.

Then he head it thought again ’Ca..ful.... Moon....blood’ ’ Blood moon, are you trying to warn me about the blood moon?’ ofcourse it couldn’t hear him.

He continued running but the issue with the blood moon was starting to seriously bother him, first it was the system then the mammoth.

That meant the blood moon was dangerous, but he didn’t know what made it dangerous so he had no way prepare for it which was the most frustrating thing.

On the way he ate a few poisonous fruits to calm his mind, their crunchiness and spicy flavour was relaxing. He was starting to miss fish but the river was a bit too far from here.

And he wanted to hunt rank 2 as quickly as possible to evolve to rank 3 before the blood moon. If even something as powerful as that woolly mammoth told him to be careful then his current strength was obviously not enough to deal with whatever comes with the blood moon.

A few more days passed, in the past few days he noticed peculiarities with the beasts around here. They had become a bit more violent.

Even rank 1 beasts had gained more confidence, enough to attack him even. Though most were still wary of him there were still a few who overestimated themselves.

Like the dead wolf pack infront of him. 34 wolves, all rank 1 with the leader being slightly stronger than others which is something he had come to learn.

There was still a difference even in the same rank. Using that knowledge he had devised a system to measure his power as well. He divided the total evolution points into four.

Since the max was 20 points then each level was divided into 5 points. From 1 to 5 was early stage, 6 to 10 was mid stage, 11 to 15 was late stand and 16 to 20 was peak stage.

By using this system he could measure himself against the other beasts. That pack leader was peak rank 1 which to him made no difference, they were all equally weak.

Infact he did not even have to move to kill them, he merely breathed a cloud of poison, none of them were fast enough to outrun it and they all died in seconds.

Even their strongest did not even last 5 seconds before succumbing to the poison. The wolves were not the only ones to attack him though. Birds seemed to be the most eager to die.

He had killed six of them already, maybe it because he was small, atleast compared to most rank 2 creatures, his size was not impressive in the slightest.

He checked his status

Name: Ved Zhakrii

Species: Lesser Swamp Dragon ( 3 years/1000 years) ( 1.72m/ 5m) Mid Sky grade

Rank: 2

Abilities(2/2): Trait Assimilation, Haki

Traits(6/6): Poison secretion, Herculean strength (460x), Aquatic, Flash ( 340x), Iron scales (30 000x), Web Secretion

Evolution points: ( 8.6/ 20)

He was still less than 2 metres long and stood about a metre high at his tallest. Honestly he was tiny, he suddenly slashed with his tail.

It speed was so fast even he found it hard to follow it, then a headless tiny bird fell next to him. It was a wind sparrow, they were only about the size of a crow but could move at a blinding speed.

Even this rank 1 sparrow could match some rank 2 beasts in terms of speed and their beak was as sharp as a spear. This was not the first sparrow he had killed.

He gobbled it up in 1 bite and continued on his way occassionally eating some fruit. Even though he preferred meat fruits still tasted delicious to him.

Infact most things tasted great to him, it was only the spider that tasted terrible for some reason. From the distance he could see a very large mountain range.

A tall peak hidden above the clouds stood at the centre of this mountain range, surrounding it were other tall but smaller peaks. The most impressive thing though was that each one was taller than the tallest mountain on earth.

And he could smell the essence energy radiating from them even from this distance but most of all he could sense a terrifying aura from the centre peak.

Whatever made that place home was even stronger than the two mammoths combined. While lost in his thoughts he saw something large infront of him.

’ Is that a cow? no, it a goat?, what a large goat’ the goat was rank 1 which wasn’t special but for some reason he was drawn to it, specifically it golden horns.

He crawled and tried his best not to alert it, just as he jumped at it something flashed past him as fast as the wind, giant gusts of wind followed and threw him away.

He stood up in anger and saw something standing in triumph on top of the corpse of the goat. ’ Son of b*** that mine’
