CHAPTER 41: CHAPTER 41: WILL

Now it was time to test how powerful it will actually be if he infused it with will. Normally he would only use will to activate the trait which was instinctual.

After the initial use of will he would let the poison spread on it own without his control but this time it will be different. After slightly healing from the soul wound he felt he could control his will.

Actually control it not just use it instinctively. He opened the poison sack and let the poison spread out but before it could go too far he spread his will over and around it.

Then he tried to control how the poison moved, it was hard. Even while using will he realised he still did not understand what it actually was.

Perhaps a manifestation of his desires, he felt that theory was correct but he also felt like he was perhaps simplifying it too much.

He returned his focus to his task, while he was distracted by his thoughts he had lost control of over 40 percent of the poison allowing it to spread out in the water.

Before he could only allow the poison to spread in all directions and hoped enough would reach the target. Only when he directly shot it out of his mouth as a dense cloud would the poison be more concentrated on one direction.

This time it was different, it was not a dense cloud so normally it would’ve already spread in all directions but he controlled it and directed it towards the frog.

Controlling his will was mentally draining, it felt like an extra limb but the limb was without bones or cartilage. It was shapeless and formless making it elusive and hard to grasp or control.

Not only did he need enough mental strength to control the will itself he also needed enough to wrap around and control the poison using will.

So in the few seconds it took the poison to cover the hundred metres distance from him to frog he was already starting to have a headache.

Not to mention the further he tried to spread his will the less control he had over it. By the time it reached the frog he could barely nudge it.

As he had expected, the moment the poison reached the frog it reacted. He felt a slight resistance to his will, the frog was using it own will to resist his but he could tell it control over it was like his before, instinctual.

Although they were of the same rank and he couldn’t use all of his will due to the yet to fully heal soul injury, his will was still much stronger than it.

With a little mental nudge he broke through the little resistance, he felt his poison spread throughout it body at a blinding speed, there was no resistance to it spreading.

However just before the poison could reach it brain a change happened. It essence moved and coursed through it body, faster than he could react it reached his poison.

The moment they met his poison felt an insurmountable barrier, no matter how hard he nudged it, it refused to barge. However his will was putting up a good fight against the essence energy barrier.

He felt it clearly, his will was weakening the essence energy barrier, not enough for the poison to break through but attributed this to his lack of control over it.

Since he was using this a test he tried multiple solutions. He even got closer so he’d have more control over his will but it still did not work, the barrier did weaken further but still did not break.

He tried to ram his poison and will into the barrier and the results were embarrassing, they both bounced back and barely effected the barrier. Lastly he chose to do something different, so far he had been wrapping his will around his poison.

But this time he tried infusing the will directly into the poison and a change happened. The mental strain grew less and his poison moved faster.

He felt like he had more control over his will this way, it was still amateurish but it was definitely better than before. He realised his mistake before.

He tried to use will as the vanguard which was wrong, will is meant to be the support. After infusing his poison with will, an image appeared in his head, it was blurry and weak, he couldn’t even clearly tell what the image was but it was related to poison.

Fortunately due to how flimsy the image was he didn’t suffer any damage to his soul, only a slight headache. He then moved his poison and rammed it into the essence energy barrier and shattered it immediately.

The frog croaked and jumped into the water trying to swim away but how could he let it go. His poison reached it brain in a second and a few seconds later it body stopped moving.

Since he was done with his experiment he ate the frog. He was now sunbathing on a giant rock that peaked above the water while thinking about his experimental fight.

He learnt a lot from it, especially how to effectively use will. He was replaying how his poison easily broke through the essence barrier after it was infused with will.

He replayed the entire process, firstly when he used his will to directly attack the barrier it weakened the barrier but did not effect the poison at all.

However when he infused it into the poison and used the poison to attack the barrier not only did it strengthen the poison but it also weakened the essence energy barrier.

He couldn’t understand it, since he was using it on the poison then why did it effect the barrier, he also noticed it effect seemed to be stronger against the barrier than when he used it by itself.

He knew he couldn’t find the answers on his own so he asked his ever reliable system. ( Answer will require 12 points, does host still want it?) ’The hell, that almost all the evolution points I have, this is daylight robbery, you can keep your answer.’
