CHAPTER 49: CHAPTER 49: TELEPATHY?

He opened his eyes slowly then moved. His body flickered and disappeared, then he appeared 50 metres away like a ghost. His movements did not even cause a ripple in the air.

’ I see it.’ he grinned at the hippo revealing his razor sharp teeth. The attack came again but this time he felt it clearly, as soon as it entered within 10 metres of him he saw it.

The invisible attack looked like a fist sized ball of condensed pulses and it was fast and moved silently. It phased through the air without causing a single ripple.

Which is one of the reasons it was so hard to detect but nothing could be hidden from him as long as it enters the range of his will. He easily dodged it.

Then shot a web line at the hippo which stuck to it face. He pulled himself using the web and flew to it like a certain spider.

Before it could react he was already upon it. He slapped it giant face, the attack did nothing but anger it even more.

He tried to retreat but pulses came out of it body and spread in every direction. The pulses seemed to be moving slowly but reached him almost immediately.

The first wave washed over him but he barely felt it, the air and water vibrated but other than that nothing else happened.

’ Is that it?’ he was confused, he had prepared himself to suffer significant demage, after all he had been hit by these pulse waves before and knew how powerful they were.

He relaxed a little thinking maybe it was because he had grown stronger, his body continued flying backwards and before his body could even land, the second wave came. It ripped the web apart and when it washed over him he felt his scales vibrate.

Crack, he heard a cracking sound and when he checked the crack was on his scales. He panicked and tried to defend but the third wave reached him.

The cracks on his scales grew wider, blood spurted out through them and before he could even react to that a fourth wave came.

It washed over him and he felt as if a giant hammer had pounded his organs. He coughed up another mouthful of blood then his body hit the water.

Just as the fifth wave about to hit him he activated haki. He had been keeping it in reserve because it drained too much mental energy and was only to be used as a trump card.

Then the fifth wave reached him but it was split apart like water hitting stone. The moment he activated haki his aura changed.

A sharp aura washed over the battlefield covering 4 kilometres around him. He could feel his mental energy being drained like an opened dam.

He had to end this quickly but this was a rank 4 creature, an intelligent one at that, even winning was in question let alone doing it quickly but he had no choise.

Haki had a cooldown as far as he knows so he had to make it count. Unlike the invisible attacks the pulse waves are visible but impossible to dodge unless you can move faster than them which he couldn’t.

And they came rapidly, the intervals between each wave was extremely small. Since he could neither dodge nor outrun them he would cut through them.

He activated flash and moved, his body became a black streak of light that cut through the waves like a sword. He saw a flicker of surprise on it face and grinned.

The waves still presented a challenge, they slowed him down, trying to push him away from it and on top of them he was forced to dodge the invisible pulse balls but those barely presented a challenge anymore.

His body swam through the water so fast it split apart as if cleaved by a giant sword. However no matter how fast he moved there was no explosion of air even though he had long surpassed the sound barrier.

He couldn’t fully understand it but his spread out will seemed to be calming the surrounding air, not only preventing it from constantly exploding due to his movements but reducing the air friction itself, allowing him to move even faster.

And he had a feeling that he could stop this process if he wanted to and right now he did. The moment he desired to stop preventing the sonic booms from happening the air exploded.

It caused the water to rise around him like walls hiding his figure. Then he shot a web line at it feet. He swam around it so fast wind started picking up.

It was slow at first then it grew stronger and stronger and stronger and in mere seconds he had created a giant cyclone rising hundreds of metres into the air trapping the hippo within.

He knew this wouldn’t be enough to hurt the hippo in any way. The pulse waves continuously destroyed the cyclone but it grew faster than it was being destroyed.

He shot even more webs at it feet, grabbed into them and swam even faster. This body kept getting close and closer to the hippos body as the webs grew shorter but hidden by the water cyclone it couldn’t see him.

This was the reason he create it in the first place. When he got close enough he lunged with his right claws already brandished like daggers.

He reached it side in a blink of an eye and activated herculean strength. He felt that familiar form of energy course through his arm, his muscles swelled causing his scales to click together and produce a sound like jingling coins.

With the enhancement of haki his strength had reached a whole new level. He slapped out, the air exploded infront of his hand, their wills silently clashed mid air, he could feel it will trying to weaken his attack.

’ AHHHHHHH.’ he screamed in his head, he pushed will as hard as he could, this caught it off guard and he broke through then his claws landed. A shockwave like an exploding nuclear bomb blasted out.

The water exploded sending thousands of tons of water hundreds of metres into the air. The explosion was so powerful it could’ve been heard hundreds of kilometres away.

Even the water cyclone was blasted apart and dissipated. The mountainous body of the hippo tilted and fell over. It tried to balance itself but it feet were tied by the web.

It body hit the water like a collapsing mountain sending giant waves in every direction. Ved jumped back, his breath was heavy.

This fight drained too much stamina and the clash of wills drained his mental energy even faster but it worked, he won. Then the hippo stood up.

Ved grew tense, ’Even an attack of that level couldn’t take it down, this thing is tough.’ blood dripped from a giant gash on it side. He smiled, ’ Seems you aren’t invulnerable after all.’

It face contorted in anger and the killing intense in it eyes intensified. ’ Do not get cocky you shitty brat.’

’Huh?’
