Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven
Chapter 6: Bull Sharks
CHAPTER 6: CHAPTER 6: BULL SHARKS
What if he obtained the ability to breath underwater? The sea was teeming with lifeforms, increasing his evolution points would be faster and probably easier there.
Plus, there were also creatures with interesting traits, like the electric eel. If he could get that he would become a lighting breathing dragon.
He couldn’t contain his excitement and dove headfirst into the stream. His heavy body immediately sank to the floor. Although he was not a good swimmer he was still fast.
It did not take him long to catch a fish, it was a tiny thing, not even enough to provide him a fraction of an evolution point but that was okay because what he was after was it ability to breath underwater.
He swam out with the fish in his mouth then gobbled it down in seconds then the notification came. ( Trait- Aquatic detected, does host wish to absorb trait?)
’ show me trait definition’ (Affirmative, Aquatic- grants the ability to breath underwater, high speed swimming, temperature regulation and heightened senses underwater)
’ so many abilities in one trait, this is neat. System, absorb trait’ ( Affirmative, assimilating trait)
his entire body got itchy and he could feel his muscles squirm.
It took a few minutes and then it was over like nothing even happened. It was time to test how awesome he’ll be underwater so he jumped into the stream and splashed the water which scared the fish away.
He started swimming slowly, his movements felt smooth and natural, his eyesight and even his smell was better and he could feel oxygen pass through the tiny gaps between his scales.
Being underwater felt refreshing and nice, like a long lost child finally returning home. He kept swimming around happily, sometimes increasing his speed and taking sharp turns to test his agility.
It seemed he had even forgotten to hunt fish. He got out and basked on the warm sun, although being in water was nice this feeling was not bad either.
After a few minutes of sun bathing his mind came back. ’ What the hell am I doing? Aren’t I suppose to be fishing?’ He jumped back into the stream and started swimming down stream.
The fish he saw along the way were all too small which made sense. The stream was less than two metres wide and no more than a metre deep and was very clear without any large vegetation.
Large fish would not live here, that would just make them easy targets. Hours passed with him not finding and suitable targets. As the sun set he heard a sound like crashing waves.
Either this was from an ocean or a river with strong currents. He swam faster and before long he came out to a much larger body of water.
But he could not feel any salf from it and the water tasted murky, unlike the stream or the tiny pond next to his hole which had clear refreshing water.
This was obviously a river and a very large one, just near the bank and it was already more 4 metres deep. However it was perfect because he only had to swim a few metres in before finding a worthy meal.
A fish twice his own size was swimming leisurely infront of him. He pounced on it and before it could even react he bashed it head with his claw and shattered it skull with a single hit.
It died immediately and he dragged it to the river bank and ate it. ( Obtained 0.3 evolution points)
the whole fish gave him 0.3 evolution points which was a lot.
With a full stomach he started digging a new hole, he only finished when the sky had turned dark and didn’t bother making a door and just went inside and fell asleep.
The soft soil beneath him was warm and comfortable. The next morning he dived into the river and started swimming around, there were a lot tiny fish, he ignored all of them.
After swimming for a while he still did not find a fish of desirable size. He was just about to swim back when something bit him and tried to snap him in half.
However with his tough scales it teeth were barely able to go a few centimetres into his body, enough to draw blood but not to seriously demage him.
He looked at the creature that dared to attack him, it was 2 metres long with silver scales and sharp teeth. ’ Moray eel? Shouldn’t this be living in the ocean? Can they live in fresh water too?’
Although it had it teeth around him he was calm. He knew it couldn’t seriously hurt him, his only question was how it had sneaked up in him with his 360 degree vision.
’ It must’ve used the algae as cover, pretty clever for a dumb fish. You managed to pull one on me but unfortunately you messed with the wrong dragon’.
He was in a weird angle and couldn’t attack with his claws so he released a tiny amount of poison into it mouth. It took only seconds for it to squirm and release him, it died in less than 20 seconds after.
He dragged it out and ate it but the day was still young, the sun hadn’t even set yet, infact it was barely midday so he had enough time to hunt more.
He had managed to kill a few more fish during this time but the blood had drawn a school of bull sharks towards him. There were 14 of them which was a bit too much and they were larger than he remembered them.
Not to mention this was still the shallow depth of the river and he was sure it was not close to the ocean at all, he didn’t expect to see them here. Fighting them was harder than he thought.
He was able to kill 10 of them quite easily, a single claw to the head, a tail swing to the gut and they dropped dead. However amongst them were two who were ridiculously large.
5 metres in length which was too big even for them and their teeth gleamed like metal. Those two were the hardest to deal with.
Although he had ripped their skin with his tail and claws leaving multiple wounds on their bodies they were still alive, their scales were harder to pierce through than anything he had encountered so far. He had even had to rely on his poison.
But minutes had passed with them not dying, right now he was swimming downstream to escape them and his body was bleeding with multiple teeth marks on his scales. He had tried to run to shore but was constantly intercepted.
It was as if they knew his plan which made no sense, they were sharks. While focusing on losing the sharks he did not notice the churning water infront of him and by the time he did it was already too late.
’Ohh by Poseidon’s horse give me a break’
