Beast Taming: Slaughter Atlas
Chapter 117: Holy Light Elf
CHAPTER 117: CHAPTER 117: HOLY LIGHT ELF
Zhang Yuyan leaped swiftly onto the back of the Wind Burst Mad Lion.
Seeing this, Chu Chen quickly mounted Nirvana’s back.
In front of the Wind Burst Mad Lion, Nirvana appeared much smaller, making Chu Chen look half a head shorter than Zhang Yuyan.
This made Chu Chen speechless, and he secretly resolved to contract a tall and formidable Guardian Beast in the future to match his own demeanor.
The Wind Burst Mad Lion was very fast, and Nirvana had to struggle to keep up with its six short legs.
Zhang Yuyan seemed to realize this issue and quickly asked the Wind Burst Mad Lion to slow down, allowing Nirvana to catch its breath.
Although Nirvana’s speed was much slower than the Wind Burst Mad Lion, it wasn’t particularly slow, either, capable of reaching about fifty to sixty kilometers per hour.
Soon the two of them entered the forest, but they didn’t slow down much since in the outskirts of the forest, they had virtually no opponents.
Traveling at full speed, the two spent a whole hour to reach the central area of the forest.
"We are now entering the central area, we need to slow down," Chu Chen said solemnly.
Zhang Yuyan nodded upon hearing this and said, "Which way should we go next?"
Chu Chen didn’t answer immediately but closed his eyes to sense the elemental aura around them.
Due to her lack of combat experience, Zhang Yuyan was not adept at locating Star Beasts or recognizing tracking signs, though she might have studied this knowledge without practicing it.
The Black Flame Python, different from ordinary snakes, was a fire attribute Star Beast, preferring to live in places where the Fire Element was dense.
What Chu Chen had just done was to sense the concentration of the Fire Element.
Based on his perception, the Fire Element was denser to the east, making it highly likely that the Black Flame Python was residing there.
"Let’s go east," Chu Chen said with a smile.
Zhang Yuyan was puzzled and asked, "Why is that?"
Chu Chen didn’t hide his reasoning and explained his analysis.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Yuyan had a look of realization and confirmed it using Chu Chen’s method.
After a moment, Zhang Yuyan slowly opened her beautiful eyes and said with a smile, "Thank you."
Chu Chen waved his hand and said, "No need to be polite, it’s not a sophisticated technique."
As they walked, Chu Chen continued to teach, explaining how to look for traces of Star Beasts’ dung, footprints, and marks left on trees and grass.
Zhang Yuyan absorbed the knowledge Chu Chen imparted as if she were a sponge.
After walking for a while, Chu Chen suddenly stopped Zhang Yuyan.
Pointing to a pile of Star Beast dung ahead, he said in a low voice, "Do you want to give it a try?"
To his surprise, Zhang Yuyan didn’t show any disdain or other emotions, but nodded seriously with a focused expression.
Her reaction surprised Chu Chen. Being a girl, she would naturally have a repulsion towards dirty things like dung, yet she overcame it easily. It seemed there was a reason for her current strength.
Zhang Yuyan broke off a branch and squatted in front of the dung, using the branch to stir it.
"The stench of the dung carries a slight scent of fresh grass. The excrement should be from a herbivorous Star Beast, and the dung is in round pellet form, suggesting it could be from a sheep-type Star Beast," Zhang Yuyan murmured.
Chu Chen nodded and asked, "Your analysis is correct, but can you identify which sheep-type Star Beast left this dung?"
Zhang Yuyan paused at this but didn’t answer. Instead, she continued to examine the dung, searching for answers amid it.
After thinking for a moment, Zhang Yuyan furrowed her brows and said, "I can’t tell."
Chu Chen took the branch from Zhang Yuyan and gently stirred the dung. Pointing at some light red plant debris in the dung, he said, "This is Fire Line Grass, a plant that contains Fire Elements. The only sheep-type Star Beast that likes to eat Fire Line Grass is the Fire Fleece Sheep."
Listening to Chu Chen’s analysis, Zhang Yuyan seemed thoughtful and nodded, though her brows furrowed even more, seemingly dissatisfied with her own performance.
At this moment, in the high sky above them, an old man sat on a golden giant eagle, taking in everything below with an intriguing smile on his lips.
"This little guy is quite interesting, discussing Star Beast dung with the young lady. It’s impressive that he could come up with that. If the old master found out about this, he might be quite upset."
In the outskirts of the West City Forest, four people in black robes were searching for clues.
Before long, one of them suddenly exclaimed, "Boss, look over there." He pointed at the feline Guardian Beast footprints on the ground.
"That’s right, continue the pursuit."
"Wait, boss, look next to those footprints, there are some reptilian Star Beast tracks. My previous Guardian Beast was a Thunder Ant; those tracks must be left by an ant-type Star Beast. Could there be other strong individuals protecting the target?"
The leading black-robed man looked at the tracks, then said solemnly after a moment, "Judging by the depth and size of the tracks, it’s just a growing Thunder Ant. No need to pay it any mind; the target is likely teamed up with classmates for a task."
Hearing this, the three others finally breathed a sigh of relief, clearly wary of the target’s background.
Under the leading black-robed man’s guidance, the four continued tracking the footprints swiftly.
At this time, in order to verify his analysis, Chu Chen followed the traces and found the Fire Fleece Sheep eating.
It was only then that Zhang Yuyan was fully convinced.
The Fire Fleece Sheep belonged to a herd-living type of Star Beast, similar in size to Nirvana, with fiery red wool and horns that resembled the malevolent horns of a Hell Demon, giving them a formidable appearance.
"Do you want to get some action?" Chu Chen turned to ask quietly.
Zhang Yuyan nodded and said, "Xiaohuo hasn’t battled with Star Beasts much; it could use the training."
Xiaohuo was the name Zhang Yuyan gave to the Wind Burst Mad Lion.
Although the name didn’t fit the Wind Burst Mad Lion’s demeanor, it had taken to it well, cementing its reputation as the lion who liked to lick up flattery.
The Fire Fleece Sheep was not their main target, but Zhang Yuyan intended to hone her skills in the wild. Thus, the flock of Fire Fleece Sheep was a suitable target for practice.
This herd of Fire Fleece Sheep had Realms mainly around the War General Level third or fourth rank, with not very high skill levels, and there were only twelve of them.
With such a small herd, Xiaohuo and Nirvana’s capabilities were more than sufficient to handle them.
Given that Nirvana didn’t have much combat experience, this was a perfect opportunity to train alongside Xiaohuo. However, to ensure their safety, Chu Chen decisively summoned Lei Yao.
Zhang Yuyan seemed to have the same thought as she also summoned her second Guardian Beast.
Zhang Yuyan’s second Guardian Beast was an Elemental Elf.
Standing only about thirty centimeters tall, it had snowy white skin, golden hair, and fragile-looking wings that emitted a holy white glow, wearing a platinum tight-fitting long dress, with exquisite features, making it both charming and beautiful.
"Is that a Holy Light Elf?" Chu Chen asked somewhat uncertainly.
Zhang Yuyan nodded in response.
