Beast Taming: Slaughter Atlas
Chapter 48: Proud Father Chu
CHAPTER 48: CHAPTER 48: PROUD FATHER CHU
The group remained silent, refraining from discussing the Forest Giant Python any further.
Mentioning the Forest Giant Python at this moment would be like rubbing salt into Zhang Yingjie’s wounds.
The Forest Giant Python sacrificed its life to buy time for Chu Chen and the others to escape.
By the time the wolf pack realized what had happened, Chu Chen and his group had already fled a hundred meters away.
The Shadow Wolf King stared straight ahead, its eyes flashing with a cold glint.
Originally, the wolf pack numbered around twenty or thirty, but after the Beast Tide, only seven remained. Just now another wolf was killed by the Forest Giant Python, pushing its anger to the peak.
It howled to command the wolf pack to pursue Chu Chen and the others once more.
The Wolf King’s actions made everyone look extremely grim.
It was clear the opponent intended to eliminate them all.
Li Zitao took out two Star Power Pills and fed them to the Earth Spider, then said in a deep voice, "Move at full speed; it will take the pack some time to catch up to us."
As he finished speaking, the Earth Spider shot a newly regenerated strand of Spider Silk onto the back of the Green Poison Scorpion, then took off at full speed with the scorpion.
At this moment, a fiery red Red Flame Wolf was carrying three people as it fled toward Celestial Star City.
"Uncle Chu, can we escape alive?" a pale-faced young girl asked softly.
The man did not answer immediately, but instead looked back at the Thundercloud Leopard, memories of his wife and sensible son flashing through his mind.
"Yes, we will definitely escape alive," he said firmly.
Upon hearing this, the girl felt somewhat reassured. She knew he was only trying to comfort her.
The Thundercloud Leopard behind them had reached the Commander Level, and its speed far surpassed that of the Red Flame Wolf beneath them; catching up was only a matter of time.
Time passed slowly, and the Thundercloud Leopard was drawing closer, the breath of death enveloping them.
Sitting at the back of the Red Flame Wolf was a brawny young man who could even feel the hot breath of the Thundercloud Leopard.
"Uncle Chu, the Thundercloud Leopard is catching up. We are all from the Ji Family; if you save us, we will surely repay you," the young man said, his face full of fear.
"Ji Bei, shut up. You’re bringing shame to the Ji Family," the girl said coldly.
"Ji Mingyue, stop pretending to be noble. We’re about to die, and you’re still lecturing me."
Listening to their argument, the Chu-named city defense soldier said sternly, "Enough. I’ll hold it off later, and whether you escape or not depends on your fate. If you do escape, please tell my son that he is now the pillar of our family, and to take care of my wife for me."
Upon hearing this, the two stopped arguing and looked incredulously at the city defense soldier in front of them.
He was prepared to sacrifice himself for these two strangers.
"Why sacrifice yourself?" Ji Mingyue asked, her voice trembling.
"It’s our duty as city defenders to protect our home and future. I believe they would give their lives to protect my son, too."
"Did your son also participate in the trial?"
Upon hearing this, the man’s expression turned serious as he nodded, "Yes, he participated. He has always worked hard and is a good, sensible kid. Sadly, I can’t protect him anymore."
"What’s your son’s name? Perhaps we know him."
"His name is Chu Chen. I’m sure everyone at your school knows him; my son is a top student," he said proudly.
"Top student, Chu Chen."
They pondered these words, their pupils contracting sharply.
Before they could reply, two large hands grabbed their arms and flung them forward.
"Run quickly."
At that moment, the Red Flame Wolf suddenly let out a howl, its entire aura surging dramatically, breaking through to Commander Level in the blink of an eye, with blood-red flames igniting on its body.
Ji Mingyue, surprised at this, said, "Burning Blood."
The Thundercloud Leopard, sensing the Red Flame Wolf’s aura, hurriedly halted, staring in astonishment at its opponent, its eyes filled with curiosity.
"Your son is outstanding, ranking first in this trial," Ji Mingyue shouted.
Father Chu, upon hearing this, burst into hearty laughter, "Haha, that’s my son!"
Though he laughed heartily, the tears at the corners of his eyes betrayed his sadness.
Seeing this, Ji Mingyue and the other stopped hesitating, summoning their Guardian Beasts to flee toward Celestial Star City.
Father Chu gently stroked the Red Flame Wolf’s back, softly comforting it, "Let’s have a good fight."
Burning Blood is the talent of the Red Flame Wolf, an extremely rare ability since it can only be used once in a lifetime; once activated, it can’t be stopped until the blood burns out.
It gains power by burning its blood; the more blood it burns, the faster its strength increases.
The Red Flame Wolf howled, its aura growing even stronger, the battle intent in its eyes becoming fiercer.
The Thundercloud Leopard, feeling the Red Flame Wolf’s battle intent, let out a fierce roar.
Its realm was Third Rank Commander Level, while its opponent had just entered Commander Level, such an opponent was not taken seriously.
The Thundercloud Leopard powered its limbs to charge directly at the Red Flame Wolf.
The Red Flame Wolf, seeing this, did not meet the charge head-on but dodged to the side instead.
However, the Thundercloud Leopard was too fast, swiping its claws to leave three deep scratches on the side of the Red Flame Wolf.
The Red Flame Wolf ignored the pain from its wounds, as it was nothing compared to the burning blood.
It ran to a distance to keep space between itself and the Thundercloud Leopard, clearly not wanting to engage in battle too early.
The Thundercloud Leopard wasn’t in a hurry either; it toyed with its opponent like a cat with a mouse, leaving a few wounds here and there.
The Red Flame Wolf didn’t mind this; its aim was to buy time.
Gradually, the Thundercloud Leopard seemed to lose patience, its attacks becoming more fierce.
Seeing this, Father Chu quickly cast a few Soul Seals on the Red Flame Wolf, boosting its strength by about twenty percent.
The Red Flame Wolf’s aura surged once more, directly breaking through to Second Rank Commander Level, though its fur lost some luster.
The changes in the Red Flame Wolf did not escape the Thundercloud Leopard’s notice. Sensing something, it stopped its teasing, growing more serious.
It let out a low roar, with the Power of Thunder flickering on its thick claws, it launched itself at the Red Flame Wolf with full force.
The Red Flame Wolf did not dodge; instead, it charged forward.
The Red Flame Wolf fought fiercely, not avoiding the Thundercloud Leopard’s attacks, just as the leopard couldn’t dodge its counterattacks.
This tactic of trading injuries made the Thundercloud Leopard extremely cautious.
This caused it to fight tentatively, allowing the less powerful Red Flame Wolf to gain the upper hand.
This infuriated the prideful Thundercloud Leopard.
As its wounds multiplied, the Thundercloud Leopard’s fury reached its peak, fully unleashing its beastly nature.
