This department holds the authority to inspect the leaders and members of the Beast Taming Alliance.

With Beast Taming Centers spread across every corner of the four great planets, cases of corruption, embezzlement, and coveting others’ contracted beasts or resources inevitably occur. At such times, the Beast Taming Inspector Bureau comes into play.

“Because I formed a contract with Qingqing Ni.” Qiao Sang replied.

“Teacher, I’ll explain later. I just entered the office, and I suspect they’ll talk with me for a long time. I’ll wait for you here.”

With that, she hung up the call.

Mikayla still held her phone in hand, standing frozen in place as if she’d turned to stone.

“What’s wrong? Did something happen?” Flauda asked beside her.

All phones used by the instructors of the Imperial Beast University were independently developed by the Academy of Machinery, ensuring that their conversations could not be overheard by beast tamers affected by feedback from their beasts.

But Mikayla did not respond, remaining motionless in her daze.

Seeing this, Flauda’s expression involuntarily grew grave.

This honorary mentor of the Imperial Beast University was a legendary figure of the last century, becoming an S-rank beast tamer before even reaching a hundred years of age.

Figures of such legend from the previous century were now mostly retired.

If it hadn’t been for him coming here to prepare new energy pills for Qiao Sang’s pets, after being notified of one of them evolving, he likely wouldn’t have crossed paths with Mikayla at all.

Yet such a deeply respected figure in the University wore an expression that left Flauda unable to imagine what could have caused it.

Just as he was about to call Mikayla’s name, her expression suddenly hardened into stern seriousness. She tucked away her phone and began forming hand seals.

A dazzling golden star array erupted, illuminating the faces of those nearby.

An S-rank beast tamer…! The surrounding crowd’s eyes widened instantly.

A beast about a meter tall, resembling a bird, mostly white in color, with wings like jet engines, appeared within the star array.

“Lock onto the Beast Taming Center at this location. I need to go there immediately!” Mikayla commanded.

Flauda recognized the beast, Spengami.

“Speng.”

Seeing her beast tamer’s expression, the drowsiness in Spengami’s eyes instantly vanished, replaced by a blue glow.

In that moment, the entirety of Jintian City’s terrain and landscape appeared vividly in its mind, like a three-dimensional projection.

At the same time, the image was shared directly with Mikayla’s mind.

Flauda knew this was empathic positioning between a beast and its tamer and wisely kept silent.

“It’s in the east.” Mikayla said.

The 3D image rapidly zoomed eastward, enlarging, sharpening, enlarging again...

“Here it is!” Mikayla’s eyes fixed on the three-dimensional structure of the Beast Taming Center.

“Speng.”

The blue glow in Spengami’s eyes dimmed.

In the very next second, Mikayla and Flauda vanished from where they stood.

At the Beast Taming Center.

When Mikayla and Flauda arrived, they found the place abuzz with excitement. The atmosphere was loud, almost chaotic.

Some people came down from the stairs or elevators with dejected faces, grumbling and cursing.

“Unbelievable! They actually sealed off the seventh floor.”

“What on earth is happening?”

“Forget it, you can’t get up there now, the seventh floor’s blocked.”

“Why won’t they let us go up?”

“Go ask the Beast Taming Center staff.”

“I’m waiting right here. I don’t believe Qingqing Ni’s beast tamer won’t come down eventually.”

Qingqing Ni? Flauda felt the name of this beast sounded familiar, like he had heard it somewhere before.

Mikayla stood by the elevator, her expression grim as she listened.

Flauda seized the chance to ask, “What exactly happened?”

“Qiao Sang was taken by the Inspector Bureau.” Mikayla replied tersely.

Taken by the Inspector Bureau? Flauda frowned.

“Was her newly contracted beast obtained through illegal means?”

The Inspector Bureau mainly oversaw corruption among Beast Taming Alliance officials. But at local centers, if an Inspector encountered beast tamers bribing officials to gain pets through illegitimate channels, those beast tamers would also be taken in for questioning.

Although Flauda hadn’t heard Qiao Sang’s side of the phone call, he had caught Mikayla’s words, so he knew Qiao Sang had contracted her fifth beast.

Though he didn’t agree with it, Qiao Sang wasn’t his student, but from the Imperial Class. It wasn’t his place to intervene.

The elevator doors opened.

“Let’s go up.” Mikayla said, striding in quickly.

Flauda, a step slower, squeezed in as well.

Someone immediately pressed the button for the seventh floor. When it didn’t light up, they pressed for the sixth floor instead.

The elevator sped upward and soon stopped at the sixth floor.

The crowd inside rushed out, joining the mass already gathered outside, especially at the stairwell, where people crowded thickly.

Without hesitation, Mikayla pushed her way toward the stairwell.

Flauda hurried to follow.

At the stairwell, a No Entry sign was placed, and a staff member in uniform stood guard.

Flauda’s mind whirled with questions.

Something about this situation didn’t feel simple.

If the issue was just corruption among Beast Taming Center leaders, normally beast tamers wouldn’t be this excited.

They looked more like frenzied fans waiting for a celebrity.

As these thoughts flashed through his mind, he saw Mikayla walk up to the staff member and say: “I need to go upstairs.”

“The seventh floor is off limits right now.” The staff member replied impatiently.

“My student was taken by the Inspector. I must go up.” Mikayla said firmly.

The staff member froze, then his attitude shifted instantly to respect.

“Please wait.”

He went up a few steps, pulled out his phone, and made a call.

“A woman claims to be that person’s teacher… Yes, Qingqing Ni’s beast tamer… Understood.”

He hung up, came down, and stepped aside.

“You may go up.”

Mikayla started climbing.

When Flauda followed, the staff member stopped him.

“He’s with me.” Mikayla said over her shoulder.

The staff let him pass.

“Why do they get to go up?!”

“Yeah! Why them?”

“So we Dragon Nation people aren’t allowed, but these foreigners are? What’s that supposed to mean?”

Amidst the chorus of discontent, Mikayla reached the seventh floor and knocked on the Inspector Bureau office door.

“Come in.” An elderly voice called from inside.

Mikayla pushed open the door, only to see Qiao Sang being surrounded by people, offered tea, fawned over, and attended to with warmth.

She blinked, stunned for a moment, then quickly scanned the room. Her gaze settled on a pet about thirty centimeters tall, pure white with hints of gradient cyan, its lower body wrapped in clouds, also being fussed over by the crowd.

It really was… Qingqing Ni.
