Beast World: I Became the Little Villain's Mommy
Chapter 228 - 219 Mutual Rescue_1
CHAPTER 228: CHAPTER 219 MUTUAL RESCUE_1
The skies above White Eagle City were densely packed, with numerous white eagle Beastmen already in flight. The ground below, by contrast, was relatively empty. But because there were so many birds in the sky, things were constantly falling.
The little snake Beastman dragged Si Yan closer to the nearest Beastman’s home.
Si Yan’s eyes widened as she asked, "Little Snake, what are we doing now?"
"Taking things."
"Taking??" Si Yan stuttered in surprise. "Are you sure it’s not stealing?"
The little snake Beastman looked back at her. This little Mistress has been pampered since childhood; she’s probably never done anything like this.
He explained calmly and patiently, "If you don’t maintain your strength, you’ll die in a disaster. So right now, we’re not stealing; we’re taking."
Si Yan said stubbornly, "But the owner of this house isn’t home right now. Without their permission, we are stealing."
The little snake Beastman stopped and turned around, his purple eyes glowing faintly. "So, do you want to die, or go to someone else’s house and take things? Little Mistress, you can only choose one right now."
Si Yan: "..."
Si Yan: "Don’t we have any other choices?"
The little snake Beastman thought for a moment, weighed his options, then asked, "How far is your home from here?"
Si Yan pointed at a distant tree. "Not far, it’s over there."
The little snake Beastman: "..."
If I were alone, I certainly wouldn’t go that far to get things. But this little Mistress is very persistent. Rather than persuade her, it’s better to get her own things. That way, she’ll shut up and stop nagging me.
The little snake Beastman took a few steps forward, then looked back. Seeing the little Mistress had followed, he continued toward Si Yan’s dwelling.
As they walked, Si Yan also began to realize the difficulty of going back for food.
"The place I live isn’t wide open."
"I know."
"There are a lot of trees there, and they might collapse."
"I know."
"And there’s the risk of landslides too..."
"I know."
The little snake Beastman turned and looked at her, holding her leaf umbrella. "Do you have anything else to say?"
Si Yan pursed her lips, a strange sensation in her heart. She suddenly apologized, "I’m sorry. I went against your rules for survival."
The little snake Beastman turned away nonchalantly. "It’s nothing. The earthquake’s epicenter isn’t in White Eagle City; we should be fine walking there. Besides, if I could survive without taking other people’s things, I wouldn’t choose to do so."
Si Yan curiously observed the little purple snake Beastman before her. It was the first time she had seen such a young male. For some reason, she found this lean little Beastman quite novel and impressive.
As they walked, they neared her tree-hole home.
Excited, Si Yan sprinted ahead a short distance and pointed. "Look there! That tree hole is my home!"
But just then, the ground rocked with another violent tremor!
Little Si Yan couldn’t keep her balance, and the little snake Beastman grabbed her hand. "Come here!"
Beneath Si Yan’s feet was loose soil. Just as the little snake Beastman shouted, the ground split open!
The fissure wasn’t small and continued to widen!
This kind of low-probability event actually happened to the two young cubs.
An earthquake! A huge fissure opened right beneath Si Yan’s feet!
"Wang!"
The immense force pried their hands apart, and Si Yan was about to fall into the chasm.
The little snake Beastman’s expression turned grim. He spun around, instantly transforming into his half-Beastman form.
His long tail coiled around Si Yan, while his hands clutched a small tree beside the crevice to anchor himself!
Suspended in mid-air, Si Yan was terrified, her face pale.
The little snake Beastman flung Si Yan toward the edge of the cliff with his long tail. He gritted his teeth. "Grab onto the rocks!"
Si Yan was terrified. "You... don’t let go of me!"
The little snake Beastman clenched his teeth, not wanting to speak. After Si Yan grabbed onto the cliff face, he used his coiled tail to give her leverage, helping her climb up.
Little Si Yan’s climbing skills were quite strong.
Using her hands and feet, she grabbed onto the rocks and had just pulled herself up.
"Wang, I made it up!"
Just as she turned around, overjoyed, she saw the small tree the little snake Beastman was holding onto suddenly loosen. He, along with the tree, plunged into the crevice.
Clenching his teeth, he instinctively tried to save himself. His tail thrashed about, searching for anything to coil around, but found nothing.
Suddenly, he felt his hand being grabbed.
He looked up and saw the face of the little Mistress, who was several years younger than him.
"I’ve got you!" the little Mistress said through clenched teeth, exerting all her meager strength; her whole body was straining.
The little snake Beastman was momentarily stunned. Then, using her offered strength, his snake tail wrapped around a nearby rock, and he climbed up.
Si Yan ran over to check on him, and he immediately pulled her away from the fissure’s edge.
Si Yan asked, "How did a fissure open up here?"
The little snake Beastman’s face was cold.
Si Yan suddenly felt a twinge of guilt. If she hadn’t insisted on not taking other people’s things, they probably wouldn’t have encountered this disaster. This little snake Beastman is probably angry.
Si Yan said, "Little Snake, thank you for saving me!"
The little snake Beastman said, "I saved you because you are my Mistress now. If you had died, I would have shed a layer of skin."
Without any emotion, the little snake Beastman continued, "However, don’t expect me to save you all the time. If a truly unforeseeable disaster occurs, I won’t mind shedding this layer of skin."
The little snake Beastman’s tone was chillingly cold.
Si Yan was intimidated by his fierceness. Seeing his somewhat angry expression, she felt a bit scared and didn’t know what to do.
The little snake Beastman said coldly, "To get to your home now, we’ll have to take a long detour, and this stretch of fissured land isn’t safe. We made this trip for nothing."
Looking at him, Si Yan felt that his earlier grim expression wasn’t necessarily directed at her.
She cautiously asked, "Are you angry because we made a wasted trip, not because you’re angry with me?"
The little snake Beastman looked at her strangely. "Why would I be angry with you?"
Si Yan replied, "Because it was all my fault we came here and encountered danger."
The little snake Beastman turned and started walking. Si Yan followed. "I also agreed to come here. It’s not entirely your responsibility."
Besides, if this little Mistress hadn’t run out to find him in the middle of the night, she probably wouldn’t have encountered this series of dangers.
After walking for a while, the little snake Beastman said, "We need to find something to eat, and you need to find a way to warm up. Think, is there any such place?"
"Hmm..." Little Si Yan tilted her small head, thought for a moment, her bright, clear black-and-white eyes sparkling. "I’ve got it! Follow me!"
...
When Si Yan led the little snake Beastman to her precious secret base, his brow twitched intensely.
This place is relatively open, with no visible risk of falling rocks nearby. The ground also feels quite stable. It’s indeed a good place to take shelter from an earthquake.
There, a few short, thick logs had been used to construct a very, very crude wooden cabin. An adult Beastman couldn’t get in; it was probably only about two square meters in size. It clearly looked like something a child had built themselves.
And outside the thatched hut lay a large, open field.
In the Beast World, apart from a few weaker Beastmen who farmed, stronger Beastmen never engaged in agriculture at all.
So, this setup... was extremely novel to him.
