CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 29 YOU’RE BACK_1

"I said no!" the village chief exclaimed, his face turning red with anger.

Tai Seng replied calmly and firmly, "Uncle... in fact, I didn’t come to discuss this with you."

His uncle probably wouldn’t understand how he had watched helplessly as the hawk swooped down and abducted Si Yan, how he had floundered in the sea, unable to swim far, overwhelmed by a sense of powerlessness and stubborn unwillingness.

At that moment, he knew full well what his heart desired.

If she was not willing to take a mate, a Guardian Beast contract was the only choice he could make.

The village chief knew of the Wolf Clan’s single-minded determination once they’ve set their heart on a mate, their persistence and loyalty. He realized he couldn’t change Tai Seng’s mind, so he turned away, somewhat stifled.

Even if Si Yan only had one male and could give birth, and even though she could control fire and appeared possibly to be a female related to the priests, it still absolutely did not qualify her for Tai Seng to become her Guardian Beast.

"I can’t control you," the village chief said. "Just don’t regret it."

A naive smile emerged on Tai Seng’s face as he shook his head. "She’s the best. I won’t regret it."

Mu Xiao flew Si Yan over to the skies of the Yanxiang Tribe.

In the cave, Tai Seng’s sensitive nose twitched lightly, and he almost instantly sensed the presence of power.

He immediately ran out of the doorway and looked up to see the snowy hawk in the sky. Filled with unvented anger, he transformed into a silver wolf and ran towards it at high speed.

Mu Xiao landed with Si Yan, who hopped off his back with a nearly empty half-bucket of salt, most of which she had spilled along the way.

"Mommy!!!"

Before she could greet Tai Seng, little Bei Ji had already flung himself into Si Yan’s arms.

"Mommy, you’re back! I thought... I really thought..." Bei Ji buried his face in her stomach, his voice growing hoarse as he spoke.

Si Yan rubbed Bei Ji’s little head. "I’m back. I’m sorry for making you worry."

Bei Ji nuzzled into her embrace, letting out a soft "Mhm." He then said, "From now on, wherever Mommy goes, Bei Ji will follow. You can’t leave Bei Ji."

Si Yan laughed softly. "Alright."

She looked up, surprised to see Nan Mo hiding inside the cave, watching her.

She greeted Nan Mo, who immediately hid again.

Xi Qing stood to the side, his gaze flickering slightly. "You’re back."

"Yes, it was an accident this time," Si Yan quickly explained, knowing her cubs lacked a sense of security. "I didn’t want to leave. I was actually kidnapped. And all I thought about after that was returning."

Xi Qing looked at her coolly. "You look pale."

Who wouldn’t be pale after such a long flight, especially one who was sick the whole way? Could her complexion be anything but poor?

Xi Qing added, "You seem uglier."

Si Yan’s mouth twitched. "I’ve finally made it back... can’t you say something nice?"

Xi Qing replied, "No."

Si Yan: "..."

Resigned, Si Yan reached out to pet Xi Qing’s head.

After all, he was her child. She would endure it.

Tai Seng arrived, and the moment he saw Si Yan, all his unease and anxiety suddenly smoothed over.

He could feel his own heartbeat, and that sense of security made him feel very comfortable.

He shifted his gaze slowly, and then his sharp eyes immediately turned towards the annoying white bird beside him.

The young silver wolf was brawny and majestic, his presence intimidating. "Stupid bird, you dare come to Yanxiang!"

The haughty bird was not scared at all, fluffing his feathers. "Why wouldn’t I dare come, silly dog!"

Suddenly, Tai Seng pounced, his claws swiping at Mu Xiao’s proud face!

While Si Yan was talking with her cubs, she took a few steps back with them, only to see that two red-crystal male Beastmen had already rolled into the forest to fight.

Was there a natural enmity between the Wolf Clan and the Hawk Clan?

This wasn’t the first time Si Yan had seen the two of them fighting. "Do the males here really love to fight so much?"

Bei Ji glanced at the two males fighting nearby.

As a male cub himself, how could he not understand why these two males were fighting?

But he definitely didn’t want his mommy to be taken away.

So, Bei Ji lifted his fair, tender little face, looking at Si Yan excitedly and said, "Mommy, are you tired? Quickly go inside and rest!"

Tai Seng’s fight with Mu Xiao was incredibly frustrating.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t win, but whenever he was about to, Mu Xiao would fly up and far away.

And Tai Seng’s long-distance attack methods were very limited, so he couldn’t gain the upper hand.

Mu Xiao flapped in the air, snorting with contempt. "Stupid wolf, don’t tell me you’ve taken a fancy to the little female?"

Tai Seng immediately stood up straight and roared angrily, "Stupid bird, don’t you dare have designs on Si Yan!"

"Haha!" Mu Xiao said energetically. "A dumb wolf like you wants to be the little female’s mate? You should go take a piss and look at your own reflection!"

"You!"

The honest Tai Seng, not quick-witted, couldn’t compete with Mu Xiao’s glib tongue.

Then he suddenly thought of something and stopped his movements. His tail slowly swept from left to right, his eyes filled with determination.

"Stupid bird, I am about to become her Guardian Beast," he enunciated very clearly.

"What?" Mu Xiao thought he had misheard.

Tai Seng looked at him coldly. The natural rivalry between males slowly dissipated.

Mu Xiao gradually landed on a tree branch, watching Tai Seng for a while.

The male in front of him, young as he was, had already become a Red Crystal Beastman. Even in Myriad Beasts City, he was quite outstanding. For such an excellent male to volunteer to be a Guardian Beast for a female... in his view, it was very foolish.

Indeed, a dumb wolf.

"No one’s as foolish as you, volunteering to be a Guardian Beast for a female," Mu Xiao said, watching him. "I’m not like you. I want to become her Beast Husband!"

This flashy, dumb bird actually wanted to be Si Yan’s Beast Husband. He was the one who needed to take a piss and see his own stupid reflection!

Tai Seng couldn’t be bothered to argue with him anymore. He gave Mu Xiao a cold glance and walked away.

As he walked, Tai Seng carefully considered the matter of becoming Si Yan’s Guardian Beast. He remembered the impulsive confession he had made to her, how she hadn’t even lifted her head to refuse him.

He wanted to stay by her side, yet he could only linger as a Guardian Beast.

As he thought, he also felt a bit apprehensive.

After all, what if his request to become her Guardian Beast was also rejected?

Tai Seng hesitated. Unwilling to wait any longer, he ran towards Si Yan’s cave.

Inside Si Yan’s cave, Bei Ji was still excited.

He pulled Si Yan to sit inside the cave, then he and Xi Qing went out to get something for Si Yan to eat.

In the Beast World, being able to work, possessing a work capability, was the greatest recognition for males.

The male cubs of the Beast World, eager for approval, were all very serious about work.

The early summer sun was fierce. The vegetables Si Yan had left to dry in the courtyard had been sunning for two days and were now visibly shriveled. Si Yan pinched the vegetables. Another day in the sun, and they should be ready for storage, she estimated.

Just as she was about to set the vegetables aside, Si Yan suddenly heard a quarrel by the river nearby.

She heard Xi Qing and Bei Ji’s voices arguing with someone and hurriedly put down the vegetables and went over.

There, she saw four bear cubs from Xiong Rou’s family pushing Bei Ji to the ground, while one of them grabbed Xi Qing’s hair.

The bear cubs from Xiong Rou’s family were all around ten years old, much taller than five-year-old Xi Qing and Bei Ji.

But that wasn’t the most important thing. Most importantly, one of the bear cubs had grabbed Xi Qing’s hair, intentionally flipping it up to reveal the other half of his face.

It was a fearsome, terrifying half-face, marked by horrific scars left by fire!
