Beast World: The Villain Baby Is Not Conforming to the System!
Chapter 235: That’s Only Fair!
CHAPTER 235: CHAPTER 235: THAT’S ONLY FAIR!
"He’s doing research with your fourth father now," Yu Man said.
"Then I’ll take Ackman to see Fourth Father and Professor Ed. I need to show them the test results, too."
"I’ll go with you," Yu Man nodded.
They walked to the underground laboratory and entered the password.
The door to the basement slowly opened.
As soon as Yu Manman looked up, she saw Professor Ed King sweating profusely, holding something in one hand, and pinching Fourth Father Lai’s chin with the other. His whole body was almost pressing on Lai...
Uh... what did she just see?
Yu Manman really wanted to turn around and leave.
Afterward, she sneakily glanced at her mom.
Yu Man looked on with a face full of anticipation, as if watching a good show.
With the opening of the laboratory door, Lai and Ed King’s actions froze, and they looked towards the door in unison.
The atmosphere was so awkward it felt like it could solidify.
Lai’s face, already dark, turned even darker. "Get up, quickly!"
Ed King jumped aside!
He chuckled awkwardly, "Sister-in-law, don’t misunderstand, he wouldn’t take his medicine, I had no choice but to do this!"
"I know, I didn’t misunderstand," Yu Man thought it was a bit funny but didn’t think much of it.
Although Lai is a doctor, he exercises a lot. After the toxins in his body mutated, he was full of energy and always needed someone to spar with to let off steam. So over the years, Lai’s skills haven’t diminished; they’ve actually improved.
But Yu Man could see that Ed, who was dedicated to medical research, probably wasn’t as skilled as Lai in physical abilities.
For Ed to pin down Lai, who could say it wasn’t Lai deliberately letting him?
Just a willing participant and a willing victim.
Since Ed came over this period, Lai seemed to have a bigger temper, often irritating Ed to the point of jumping, but somehow Lai’s gloomy mood seemed to have improved.
Yu Man knew that the poison in Lai’s body was a hidden danger, but Lai didn’t want them to worry, he often kept it to himself. He didn’t tell Puslin and the others, not because he didn’t trust them, but because he considered them family.
Faced with family, Lai had various concerns and pretended to be fine every day.
Now that there’s a friend Lai acknowledges in the same field, Yu Man was happy. At least Lai had someone to talk to.
Seeing that Yu Man didn’t misunderstand, Ed was relieved and began to complain, "Sister-in-law, you have to control him! I put all my efforts into researching an antidote, but he just won’t give me any face!"
"Who knows if what you’re giving me is poison or medicine?"
Lai straightened his clothes, eyeing the potion in Ed’s hand—an alluring purple, like...as if one sip could send you straight to heaven.
Unknowing, one might think Ed resented past issues and wanted to give him a vial of poison.
But Ed just smiled, "Yes, what I have in my hand is poison. So? Are you dare to drink it? Drink it and you’ll go gag!"
He even deliberately dangled the potion in front of Lai.
Lai sneered, "What’s there to be afraid of!"
He snatched the potion from Ed’s hand, pulled out the stopper, and gulped it down.
Afterward, his whole face crumpled, almost spitting out the potion.
Lai frowned, "What did you make me drink! It tastes awful! You’re messing with me on purpose, aren’t you?"
Ed looked at him in surprise, "Well, you guessed it?"
Developing the antidote for him was one thing, but it didn’t stop him from taking revenge on Lai! This potion was indeed something he developed overnight!
"Oh, by the way, this potion, yes, it’s poison," Ed said with a smile.
Lai took a huge gulp of water to rinse his mouth, "Did you think I couldn’t taste it? I guessed it as soon as I smelled it when I opened it!"
"And you still drank it?"
"A bit of poison? Am I afraid?" Lai scoffed, "At worst, you’ll accompany me to the afterlife!"
"Tsk, still as vicious as ever..." Ed huffed, "But you don’t have to worry, you won’t die, at most you’ll just have a stomachache! It’ll cleanse your system!"
Lai met Ed’s half-smiling gaze, his expression changing slightly, feeling his stomach starting to ache.
"You..." Lai pushed Ed aside and swiftly left the laboratory!
When Lai returned, his complexion was a few shades paler.
"Ed!" Lai’s voice was a bit weaker, but you could still hear his annoyance.
"What’s up?" Ed smirked, his eyes teasing, "I’m just thinking about your well-being."
Ed took out a syringe and gestured at Lai, "Come on, let me take a blood sample."
"Get lost!" Lai glared at him.
"Tsk, without testing, how do you know how effective my poison-to-poison method is? Otherwise, wasn’t your stomachache all for nothing!"
"Since you’re not coming over, I’ll come to you!" Ed strode toward him, much like Nanny Rong plunging a needle into Ziwei...
Ed pinned him down and gave him a hard jab!
"Can’t you be gentle?" Lai was so angry he ground his teeth.
"You’re a grown man and you’re afraid of pain? You’re not some little girl!" Ed’s smile never left his lips.
He deliberately made it rough, so what?
When they were students, Lai was like a nightmare to him, now he would become Lai’s nightmare! That’s only fair!
Lai rolled his eyes at Ed.
Ed placed the blood sample onto the testing machine and focused entirely on the analysis.
Yu Man also waited to see the results, hoping for something new.
Lai sat on the side, took a sip of salt water to replenish electrolytes, and didn’t look at Ed once, as if none of this had anything to do with him.
Over the years, he’d tried countless methods and had long lost hope.
After some time, Ed came over with a report, adjusting his glasses.
"The effect is average...but it’s not like it’s totally ineffective," Ed thoughtfully stroked his chin, "I’ll modify the formula a bit more and continue trying!"
Lai glanced at him and sneered, "By the time you’ve perfected your formula, the poison in my body will have mutated again!"
"Then, we’ll just keep researching!" Ed placed the test results in front of Lai, "Look, the toxin levels have decreased, we are bound to find a solution! Who knows, maybe soon!"
Lai didn’t even look at it, slowly saying, "Back when I replaced all my blood, the toxin levels were lower, but after a while, the toxins would reappear."
"Once, I even found a suitable bone marrow transplant..." Lai leaned back in his chair, smiling faintly, "And the result?"
He looked down at himself, wasn’t he still in the same condition now? It was useless unless his soul could be extracted to a new body!
