CHAPTER 215: CHAPTER 58: LITTLE WITCH YANG XINTIAN_2
As expected, that line still managed to silence her.
"If you don’t want me to shout, then why are you covering my mouth?" she couldn’t help but complain.
"If I hadn’t covered your mouth, would you have stopped?" Sun Dasheng shot her a look. He then quietly walked over to Xiang Zixuan, who was sitting on the grass in a daze. He gently sat down beside her and called out her name.
She was like a little rabbit, ready to bolt at the slightest disturbance, but a large hand wrapped around her shoulders.
"Don’t be scared! It’s me. Uncle Sun is here."
"Uncle Sun!" She buried her head in Sun Dasheng’s shoulder and burst into wretched sobs.
"There, there, good girl, don’t cry. I know all about it. It’s definitely Yang Xintian’s fault this time. I just gave her a piece of my mind for you."
"That’s right, Zi Xuan. Uncle Sun already gave me a good scolding," Yang Xintian started to say, but a glare from Sun Dasheng made her pout and fall silent.
"Uncle Sun, I don’t want to see her," she said, her voice muffled as she cried into his arm.
"Alright, alright! I’ll send her away right now." He shot a meaningful glance at Yang Xintian. Although visibly displeased, Yang Xintian obediently walked away. She didn’t go far, however, just finding a spot to sit on a raised platform nearby.
"She’s gone now. Okay, stop crying. You’re not pretty when you cry. Your face is all messy, like a little tabby cat’s."
"You’re the one with a tabby cat face!" Xiang Zixuan was provoked into a laugh through her tears.
"Alright, alright, Uncle Sun has a tabby cat face. Are you done crying now?" Sun Dasheng cooed, holding her gently.
"Mm." She wiped away her tears and lifted her head from his shoulder.
"I always thought of Tian Tian as my best friend. I never expected her to be this kind of person." A wave of sadness still washed over her.
"Uncle Sun, did you realize from the beginning that Tian Tian was that sort of person?" She wanted to know if she was the only fool who had been kept in the dark.
Sun Dasheng understood the subtext of her question, but how could he tell her the truth? "How would I know any better than you? We weren’t nearly as close. If you didn’t know, how could I have?"
She felt a little better after hearing that. It meant that wicked woman’s acting had fooled everyone, not just her. She wasn’t the only idiot.
He consoled her for quite a while before she finally calmed down.
"Alright, school’s let out. I’ll take you home. It’s not a good idea for you to be here by yourself." Sun Dasheng helped her to her feet.
"Okay. Thank you, Uncle Sun," Xiang Zixuan nodded obediently.
What a charming girl. For a guy like Xiang Yunsheng to have such a daughter, he must have accumulated good karma for eight lifetimes.
After he dropped her off at home and was preparing to head back, someone suddenly stepped out in front of his car.
I thought I’d run into an insurance scammer, but it was a false alarm.
"Yang Xintian, what on earth are you doing?" Sun Dasheng scolded the person who had just gotten into his passenger seat.
"I was worried," she said, her head bowed.
"Did you follow us all the way from school to her house?"
"Mm."
"You’re really something else!" Sun Dasheng gave her a thumbs-up. If you were a guy, you’d be getting arrested for this.
"Uncle Sun, is Zi Xuan still mad at me? I’m still blocked on WeChat and her phone," Yang Xintian asked.
"Just wait. Once she’s cooled down, go and apologize properly. Maybe she’ll forgive you then," Sun Dasheng said.
"Really?"
"Just kidding. Now, where are you going? If you’re not going home, it’s out of my way, so you can get a taxi. I’ve got things to do at my place."
Seeing that Uncle Sun was getting a little impatient, Yang Xintian immediately stopped pressing him. "I’m heading home too. Let’s go together."
「The Villa District.」
Xiang Yiren had said there was a problem with the plumbing at his house. He didn’t dare call a repairman, not with three lovely women living there, so he had to handle it himself. Luckily, he was very experienced. He quickly found the broken valve and replaced it with a new one. All set!
Just as he was about to take a sip of water, the doorbell rang. He walked over and saw from the video monitor by the door that it was Yang Xintian, who he had just parted with a short while ago.
He didn’t open the door, simply pressing the intercom button to ask, "What is it now?"
"Uncle Sun, thank you for all the trouble you went through earlier, running around for me."
"If you have something to say, say it. If not, get going," Sun Dasheng replied, refusing to play along.
She, however, continued with a smile, "Well, Uncle Sun, to thank you for finding Zi Xuan for me, I’d like to treat you to a meal."
"A meal? Your parents can’t be home at this hour, can they? You know how to cook?" It was only five in the afternoon, still quite early.
"Uncle Sun, you’re underestimating me. I’ve been self-reliant since I was little, you know. My parents are often away. If I couldn’t cook, I’d have starved to death by now, wouldn’t I?" she retorted. "Come on, Uncle Sun, the food is all ready. It’ll all go to waste if you don’t come eat."
"Fine. Wait a minute, I’ll go wash my hands."
Cherishing food is a traditional virtue, one that must be upheld.
「Yang Xintian’s House.」
The house was empty and lacked a lived-in feel, as if no one regularly stayed there. It seemed she hadn’t been lying; her parents spent most of their time busy elsewhere, leaving few traces of their life in the home.
At the dining table, he tasted a few dishes and found them all to be quite good. He could also tell they weren’t takeout, as the presentation was rather plain.
"It’s been a long time since I’ve personally cooked. Uncle Sun, have a taste and see if my skills have gotten rusty."
Only then did he notice she was wearing a cute apron.
"I’ve never had your cooking before, so how would I know if your skills have declined?" Sun Dasheng said in a flat tone.
"Oh, right. How silly of me," Yang Xintian said with an embarrassed smile. She then raised a glass of wine. "Uncle Sun, I really owe you for today. I wouldn’t have known what to do without you. I’d like to toast you with this glass. I’ll drink it all; you can drink as you please!"
