CHAPTER 226: CHAPTER 62 ZHONG LIYING’S DEEP AFFECTION CONFESSION

Zhong Liying shook her head.

"What’s going on? Spit it out, I’m dying of anxiety here," Pan Yanyan said impatiently.

Pan Yanyan was hot-tempered, while Zhong Liying was the complete opposite—calm and unhurried. No one knew how the two of them had ended up as best friends.

"He’s right up ahead," Zhong Liying said. "Manager Xia is showing him around the dealership."

"He’s here to buy a car?" Pan Yanyan guessed.

"No!" Zhong Liying shook her head again.

"Liying, I’m really getting angry now. Can’t you just tell me everything at once?" Pan Yanyan said, her voice laced with both anxiety and frustration.

Finally, Zhong Liying smiled and quickly recounted everything she had just witnessed.

"So, you’re saying Mr. Sun is the real boss behind this dealership?" Pan Yanyan asked.

"Yes," Zhong Liying nodded.

"We’ve struck gold, Liying! We’ve struck gold!" Pan Yanyan exclaimed, excitedly shaking her best friend’s arm. "Who would have thought Mr. Sun was so unbelievably wealthy, with so many hidden businesses? He’s way too low-key!"

"Liying, listen to me. This time, you need to be proactive. If you can land a Golden Son-In-Law like Mr. Sun, you’ll be set for the rest of your life."

Seeing the displeasure on her friend’s face, she quickly added, "Okay, okay, my mistake. I know you don’t want to be a kept woman, that you want to forge your own path. In that case, get with Mr. Sun, and then have an honest talk with him. Ask him to give you a business to run. Wouldn’t that be much easier? He has countless companies under his name, you could do whatever you want."

"And even if he doesn’t have one for you, having him acquire a company would be a piece of cake. Didn’t he just acquire this dealership?"

Pan Yanyan’s words were logical and compelling, tilting the scales of Zhong Liying’s internal struggle decisively.

"Alright, no more thinking about it. Just listen to me," Pan Yanyan urged, afraid her best friend would overthink things and let the opportunity slip away, just like she had so many times before. She grabbed Zhong Liying’s hand and pulled her forward.

"Yan Yan, why are you pulling me? I can walk by myself," Zhong Liying said, struggling against her grip. But Pan Yanyan, leading the way, held her hand tightly and refused to let go. She was willing to do whatever it took for her best friend’s happiness.

"Zhong Liying, Pan Yanyan, what do you two think you’re doing?"

Xia Hai, the manager of the BMW dealership, scowled at the two women who had suddenly blocked the path of his entourage. He had personally recruited both of them. The main reason, of course, was that Zhong Liying had captivated him at first sight—a woman like her was a natural-born sales talent. Naturally, his own ulterior motives also played a small part.

"Get back to work! Can you afford the consequences of disturbing our distinguished guest?" he demanded.

He assumed they were acting like desperate petitioners blocking an imperial official to air their grievances. He had indeed made a few suggestive comments to Zhong Liying in the past, but surely it wasn’t serious enough to warrant complaining to the big boss, right?

"Mr. Sun, we have something to say!" Pan Yanyan declared boldly, shrugging off the other salespeople who were trying to pull her back.

"It’s fine. Let them come over," Sun Dasheng said nonchalantly.

At Sun Dasheng’s words, Xia Hai’s heart nearly stopped, and cold sweat poured down his back. But with so many executives watching, he didn’t dare say another word. He kept silent, reasoning that they had no proof, and all he had to do was deny everything. Besides, as a top salesman responsible for half the dealership’s revenue, upper management wouldn’t make things difficult for him. Reassured by this thought, he felt much better and even shot a glare at the shouting Pan Yanyan.

Pan Yanyan fearlessly glared right back before turning to Sun Dasheng to make her accusation.

"Mr. Sun, we want to report this man, Xia Hai! He uses his position to sexually harass his subordinates! He’s morally bankrupt and a heartless beast!"

Xia Hai leaped forward instantly, shouting his innocence. "Director Sun, she’s slandering me! She’s defaming me! I’ve never done any of those things! If you don’t believe me, you can ask anyone else at the dealership. They can all vouch for me."

He then began calling on his cronies, who all testified in his defense, vouching for him without hesitation.

Sun Dasheng looked amusedly at the fiery young woman. "And you? Do you have any other evidence? You can’t just slander someone without proof, you know."

With Director Sun’s words, Xia Hai grew even more smug. See? The big boss is on my side. What can you possibly do to fight me?

In the next second, his smugness vanished.

Because she really did have evidence.

It was a recording. It contained two voices: one was his, and the other, of course, wasn’t Pan Yanyan—whom he held in contempt—but her best friend, Zhong Liying. In the recording, Xia Hai’s speech was filled with filth and vulgarity, a complete departure from the polite and refined persona he maintained in public.

The recording caused an uproar.

"I never would have thought Manager Xia was such a person in private."

"Humph, I always knew he was no good. He played and dumped several pretty saleswomen before, then found excuses to fire them. You newcomers obviously don’t know his true character."

"You veterans sure know a lot, but I’ve never heard you mention it before."

"Mention what? I earnestly warned so many female colleagues, but none of them ever listened. At some point, you just have to respect their choices and drop the savior complex."

Several salespeople who had grudges against Xia Hai snickered quietly on the sidelines. Meanwhile, the faces of those who had just vouched for him turned grim. This was serious. They might get dragged into it as well.

The executives from the auto sales company also looked grim. Their displeasure wasn’t because of Xia Hai’s reprehensible acts, but because he had failed to clean up his own mess, causing such a major headache for the company.
