CHAPTER 226: [LILITH WANTS TO SLEEP] - SILVANUS’S PART (12)

Clang!

Metal clashing rang out as a vibrant green sunflower stalk extended, knocking Drake’s blade aside.

Drake raised an eyebrow at Leonard and sneered, "What’s wrong? Not trembling anymore?"

Leonard lowered his gaze without responding. Instead, he quietly moved closer to Silvanus and spoke softly, "The sunflowers are trying to tell us something. They have something they want to show us."

Drake scoffed, "After Cocona’s last attack, they should be trying to kill us, not chat."

"Let’s go take a look," Silas said, then glanced at Cocona. "You stay here for now."

Cocona only nodded, saying nothing more. The group followed Leonard into the sunflower forest.

The twisting sunflower stalks no longer shifted unpredictably. Instead, they even parted to form a path—whether this was due to Leonard’s current power or simply the flowers’ attempt to show sincerity was unclear.

After walking for a while, the path finally led to a clearing within the sunflower field.

At the center of the clearing lay a piece of paper.

The group exchanged looks, and finally Drake stepped forward, picked up the paper, and unfolded it. Inside were lines of text, printed in ink.

After skimming through the contents, Drake raised his eyebrows slightly, then passed the paper to the others.

The eye on Silas’s forehead suddenly opened wide, swirling and churning, as if trying to verify the truth of the letter’s message.

[Lilith was always mad, a crazed child. But in the end, she stopped being mad—she became clear-headed. And then, she wanted to kill everyone.

One spark burned everything to ash, creating a sweet illusion, trapping dreamers who would never wake. All buried together.

But we are just like you. We want to wake up!

Give Lilith eternal sleep and free us all. Crush Lilith’s heart, and we will be freed!]

Drake snatched the paper back from Silas and shook it. "Can we even trust this? If they want us to do that, they could tell us where Lilith’s heart is. What kind of sincerity is that?"

He spoke coldly.

At that moment, the text on the page suddenly changed. Drake noticed and looked down again—this time, it read:

[If you agree to this request, the curse will disappear.]

Drake raised an eyebrow. He knew precisely what curse the sunflowers were referring to.

The group exchanged glances. Finally, Silas said, "Let’s go check on Cocona."

The others quickly turned and left.

Silvanus glanced over the sunflower forest, his gaze deep and unreadable, as though he had seen through everything.

The wind stirred the flowers, making them rustle softly. No one knew who was telling the truth.

"The sunflowers wrote ’we,’ so perhaps it wasn’t just one monster Lilith killed, but many—forming this entire sunflower forest to trap her."

Individually, they couldn’t defeat Lilith. But together—they could.

"Let’s see if we can remove the curse from Cocona and Drake first," Silas said.

By now, they had reached the room. Cocona stood when she saw them return. "That was quick."

Her legs were still bound by earth and roots.

Silas relayed the message the sunflower forest had conveyed.

Cocona raised her eyebrows slightly. "So if we agree to help the sunflower forest, does that mean we’ll be hunting Lilith tonight?"

After all, in her mind, Lilith’s heart would still be inside her body.

"Sunflowers have their curse, and Lilith has hers too. Either way, we’re never going to have peace," Cocona waved her hand dismissively, looked at the paper again, then said, "I agree to the sunflowers’ request."

She looked at Silas and asked, "That’s all we need to do, right?"

Before Silas could respond, the mud on Cocona’s legs instantly receded, her legs returning to normal. Cocona raised an eyebrow at Drake. "You should try it too."

Drake sneered, "Only weaklings like you would seek salvation through something like this."

Cocona: "..."

Why didn’t she just let Drake burn the whole sunflower field earlier? Would’ve saved her from having to listen to his nonsense. So irritating.

"So they don’t plan to tell us where Lilith’s heart is? Don’t tell me... It’s still inside her?" Cocona frowned, then her thoughts started racing. She muttered, "Lilith wants us to deal with the sunflower forest. But the forest has no roots—it keeps reviving. So we’ll need to find the heart of the sunflower forest, too. If we destroy it, we destroy the forest. It’s like two opposing factions going to war."

"Maybe the sunflower with roots is the heart of the sunflower forest?" Alice murmured.

"We can’t just dig up every single plant to find it. And even if we try, they’ll have enough time to regenerate before we finish. You think roots will sit still waiting to be discovered?" Drake shook his head.

"Alright, let’s stick to one plan," Silas said firmly. "Doesn’t matter which side wants the other to sleep—we’re human. So both sides of the monsters can take a nap. We’ll destroy Lilith’s heart and the sunflower forest’s heart!"

The others immediately voiced their agreement.

"If it is a heart, it’s probably hidden somewhere well," Alice said quietly.

[Not that well hidden, ha ha.]

[Someone might’ve already seen it. Gods, hurry up! If the curse spreads, it’s game over for all of them.]

[They’ve picked the wrong side. Lilith’s curse won’t give them the breathing room that the sunflower curse does.]

[Drake still has the sunflower curse. So... he’s not helping the others tonight?]

[Eh, if half of them die, it’s still better than everyone dying. Otherwise, who’s gonna watch the fun?]

[Why is everyone obsessed with death? Just look at this group—none are dying anytime soon.]

[Vote for Alice to die.]

Silvanus didn’t pay much attention to the others’ chatter. His ears twitched slightly. Tilting his head, he looked back—and sure enough, two monsters were peeking at him from inside the sunflower forest.

When they saw him turn, they covered their faces with their hands, as if shy.

Silvanus smiled and beckoned them over. The two monsters glanced at each other, then cautiously approached.

Suddenly, two small hats appeared in Silvanus’s hands—one was a wide-brimmed hat with a chin ribbon, decorated with frilly patterns.

Silvanus leaned down slightly and tied it onto Bunny’s head.

Bunny wiped away tears. Her face still looked miserable, but her eyes were glowing with joy.

"And me, and me, me too! Mew!"

Meow was too excited to wait, hopping around as she called out loudly to get Silvanus’s attention.

Silvanus looked at her, then placed a small black hat with a decorative ribbon on her head, tilted stylishly to one side, making her look like a gentleman monster who might start doing magic tricks at any moment.

Meow immediately jumped with joy while Bunny shyly stood to the side, fidgeting.

Silvanus looked at them and said, "I like flowers. Consider this a return gift."

"You... you’re so romantic, waahhh, I... I like you... hu hu hu."

Romantic? What a strange way of thinking monsters have. Silvanus couldn’t help but think to himself.

He turned away from the two monsters, only to see the others staring at him with complex, unreadable expressions—like they had a thousand things to say but couldn’t voice a single one.

Silvanus: "...What is it?"

Drake scoffed, "What’s so special about those two monsters? You keep playing with them like that, one day they’ll eat you alive."

"With you around, I’m not too worried," Silvanus replied calmly.

Drake’s words got caught in his throat. He stared at Silvanus, eyes slightly wide, then crossed his arms and looked away.

[Ha ha ha, well said. Drake’s been won over. ’With you around,’ huh? So he must believe Drake can wipe out every monster!]

[Drake: Annoying... but also kind of nice to hear!]

[Drake’s easy to please. Just flatter him a little.]

[Was that even flattery? It was a fact. Other people never admit it!]
