CHAPTER 230: [LILITH WANTS TO SLEEP] - SILVANUS’S PART (16)

Layla could only feel that Frank’s words were utterly ridiculous. Her voice turned cold as she said, "You’d better not let the priest find out what you’re doing, otherwise we’ll lose the gods’ support forever. You know very well what humanity’s situation is right now."

Frank’s face darkened. He said nothing more and left.

Layla continued to observe the dungeon, her brows tightly furrowed.

Earlier, she had been surprised that Silvanus could copy objects—perhaps that was his ability—but it seemed irrelevant. Moreover, he never discussed anything with others. That only made him stranger and more incomprehensible;, under normal circumstances, a person like him would be the first to die in a dungeon. The fact that he was still alive was already a miracle.

Watching Silvanus being dragged away by two monsters, Layla’s gaze was like watching a lamb willingly walk into a tiger’s mouth.

She began to feel uneasy. Without Silvanus in the future, the gods would become even harder to fathom. At present, the information they had about the gods in general—and the Degenerate in particular—was still far too little.

Meanwhile, inside the dungeon, Bunny and Meow had pulled Silvanus deeper into the sunflower forest, so deep that he could feel like he was no longer in the original sunflower forest. With a route like this, it would be nearly impossible for an ordinary person to find their way out.

At that moment, the two small monsters stopped running, though they still clung tightly to Silvanus’s hands without letting go.

Bunny sobbed, "Don’t worry, the sunflowers are very safe. Lilith will never touch the sunflowers, sob sob sob."

Indeed—just as the sunflowers could not touch Lilith.

But humans... were merely fish on the chopping block, scrutinized by the dungeon’s monsters until they had no chance to resist.

Silvanus lowered his eyes and said nothing.

Seeing him remain silent, Meow suddenly raised its voice: "Let me take you to see the secret of the sunflower forest! With this, Lilith will never be able to attack us, mew!"

Bunny seemed equally excited, its once-drooping ears now standing upright. "Yes, sob sob sob, we’ll be together forever, I like you, sob sob sob!"

"No, clearly I like him more, mew!"

The two little monsters didn’t seem very happy with each other’s claim and began quarreling loudly.

Silvanus could feel the hands gripping his tightening even more; as if too excited to control their strength, the monsters were on the verge of crushing his hands.

Silvanus lowered his gaze again, his expression void of much emotion, while comments kept flashing through his mind:

[No, no, absolutely not, this cannot happen!]

[Where’s Drake? Where are the others? Please, someone, save Silvanus!]

[The monsters’ killing signal has finally arrived. Until now, how these two acted so harmlessly made me think the script might actually change...]

[Silvanus brought this ending upon himself. What are his fans screaming for? Drake kept warning him not to get close to monsters from the start. He’s just too strange and stupid—did he think he could befriend them? Ha ha ha.]

[Are these two monsters really that heartless? I could see they were fond of Silvanus.]

[A monster’s affection is not the same as a human’s. If a beast likes someone, it might like them enough to want to swallow them whole.]

[Stop, Silvanus! Turn back!]

"From now on, even if Lilith makes you sleep with her, you won’t need to be afraid anymore, mew!"

"That’s right, sob sob sob, you’ll thank us."

The two little monsters kept talking without pause, as if they were so excited about sharing something good with Silvanus.

They walked on and on—no one knew how long—until the two monsters finally stopped.

Silvanus had been looking down at the ground the whole time, watching the tears of the two monsters increase bit by bit, until the path behind them was marked with long, glistening trails.

It was as if tears were spurting from their eyes like tiny fountains. Silvanus thought as much, then lifted his head.

What greeted him was a tangled mass of green, glossy vines woven together like a delicate net—and caught in that net was a beautiful, intricately made teddy bear, identical to the one Lilith had been holding on the first day.

The teddy bear lay there silently, surrounded by lush leaves and blazing sunflowers.

They were truly glowing—these sunflowers were emitting light, making the place even more beautiful, even dreamlike.

Meow and Bunny pushed Silvanus forward, saying, "Look, as long as we have this, Lilith won’t dare touch us, mew!"

"If you want, you can take it, sob sob sob..."

Outside the dungeon, Asta silently gripped the water cup in his hand, the whites of his eyes threaded with red as he glared in frustration at the live broadcast on the sky screen.

Those two monsters bringing Silvanus here were not out of kindness. That teddy bear looked unusually special—and considering that earlier, Drake’s group had searched the entire sunflower forest without finding this place—it was clear that only Meow and Bunny could lead the way here.

The problem was that Silvanus trusted too easily and was too weak. These monsters had their agenda, and for all anyone knew, Silvanus might be bitten to death by them before he could even grab the teddy bear! If it had been some team captain here instead, things would be much better!

Asta was still waiting for Silvanus to come out so he could ask about Aurora—no, Degenerate.

Of course, it wasn’t as if he liked that god. On the contrary, he was furious! He wanted to find a way to sever the connection between a top believer and a god; without a doubt, only Silvanus could do that.

Watching the scene, Asta truly hated that he couldn’t just leap into the dungeon and rescue Silvanus right now.

And Silvanus had no idea how many factions were anxiously and tensely watching him.

He looked at the teddy bear tangled in the vines, then at the two monsters, and shook his head. "I’m a little scared. How about we go back?"

Meow said earnestly, "Don’t worry. With us here, the sunflower forest won’t harm you, mew!"

They seemed more excited than ever—and the more excited they got, the more tears they shed, like a small, unending stream.

Silvanus lowered his gaze in quiet sadness, as if concerned for their condition. "But you both don’t seem to be doing very well..."

Bunny seemed unable to hold back anymore. It wailed, "Please, just take this. As long as you take it, we’ll be happy and stop crying, sob sob sob."

[Ha ha ha, I suddenly feel sorry for these monsters.]

[Silvanus, please—please don’t touch that teddy bear, don’t touch it!]

[That thing is a death trigger. Silvanus only survives this long because of his gentle, considerate personality.]

[Does he care about the monsters, though? With my sharp eye, I think he’s more like deliberately frustrating them.]

[Are there still people who think Silvanus is deep and mysterious?]

[But the thing is, he wasn’t like this in the previous dungeon. Different! It’s like he’s another side of Nerio!]

[Don’t jinx it—just because you mentioned Nerio doesn’t mean he’ll show up to save Silvanus.]

[But Silvanus is a priest, right? Can’t he summon the gods?]

[Summon Nerio, please.]

[No, I’m much more interested in Degenerate right now.]
