CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 32: DEMANDING A PERSON (PART 2)
’Wang En.’
Lou Yi’s face was expressionless, but his heart surged with a murderous intent.
This morning he called me brother, and by the afternoon, he was plotting against me.
This petty man has chosen his path to destruction.
But, what should be done now?
Lou Yi rapidly contemplated in his mind.
The Jia Family probably wouldn’t give up on me easily, especially when Instructor Lin’s assessment is still pending.
"Brother Yi, you better run quickly!" Shi Zhan pleaded nearby.
"Nonsense!"
Just then, a hoarse shout came from the distance.
The usually stern-faced Housekeeper Wu, looking even grimmer, quickly approached.
"Running away now would just confirm you as the murderer," Housekeeper Wu rebuked Shi Zhan, then turned to Lou Yi and asked loudly, "Lou Yi, tell me honestly, did you kill someone?"
"No." Seeing Housekeeper Wu’s attitude, Lou Yi felt assured, "Everyone knows the Qi Family members were killed by a tiger, it has nothing to do with me."
"Good! That’s all I need to hear from you!" Housekeeper Wu continued coldly, "Although Qi Erlang is with the Government Office, he’s not powerful enough to just take people from Jia Family as he pleases!"
"Lou Yi, come with me!"
Lou Yi followed Housekeeper Wu, along with the other guards in the courtyard, and made a grand procession towards the main gate.
There, two groups were facing off against each other.
The guards of Jia Family Manor, each wielding a long stick, stood in a battle-ready stance, blocking the other group from entering.
Qi Hu stood at the forefront of a group of archers, holding a saber in his right hand, and angrily questioned, "Is Jia Family trying to shield the murderer?"
"Does Qi Erlang have any evidence?" Housekeeper Wu strode out. "Or do you have an arrest warrant issued by an Inspector?"
"The situation is urgent, once we apprehend the culprit, we will naturally present the warrant." Qi Hu said, suppressing his anger.
"Since there is no warrant, please leave." Housekeeper Wu fearlessly issued an expulsion order.
"You!" Qi Hu erupted in anger.
Seeing Lou Yi’s unperturbed face behind Housekeeper Wu, his eyes nearly bulged with fury.
"I am Qin Yun of Tai City’s Heavy Sword Sect, and I have found enough evidence to prove that the annihilation of the Qi Family was man-made."
"Oh, can you prove it was done by Lou Yi?"
Qin Yun hesitated but quickly responded, "Though there is no direct evidence, there is great suspicion."
"The Laws of the Great Wei state: There must be evidence before a person can be detained." Housekeeper Wu’s attitude was firm, yielding nothing, "Or does Brother Qin believe his words are more useful than the Great Wei laws?"
"I certainly wouldn’t dare." Qin Yun said, then stepped aside, but his eyes stayed on Lou Yi with a hint of amusement.
Lou Yi sensed Qin Yun’s gaze and returned it.
His heart stirred, this person is not simple.
Now his five senses far surpass ordinary people, the legendary sixth sense that can sense danger has naturally broken through as well.
With just one look, he could faintly judge that although this person looked young, his strength was extraordinary.
Across from him, realizing that achieving his goal today was impossible, Qi Hu gritted his teeth in hatred.
He looked at Lou Yi, his eyes filled with venomous spite, "Lou Yi, you may escape the first, but not the fifteenth!"
"A clear conscience fears no shadows," Lou Yi responded loudly.
"You have a clear conscience? Ha." Qi Hu sneered, waving his hand, "Let’s go!"
The group of archers formerly gathered in front of Jia Family Manor’s gate left with him.
"The brat really sees himself as an Inspector." Housekeeper Wu had a hint of disdain on his face.
"What if Qi Erlang finds an Inspector and obtains an arrest warrant?" Shi Zhan asked worriedly.
"The Inspector is renowned for being cautious and leaving no loose ends." Housekeeper Wu glanced at Shi Zhan without openly answering the question.
Hearing this, Lou Yi felt slightly relieved.
But he couldn’t place all his hopes on this.
The most crucial things at the moment.
First, is to enhance his strength; with enough strength, the world is his oyster.
Second, is to elevate his standing in Landlord Jia’s eyes.
The Jia Family has deep roots, ordinary government office people can’t do much, and when I’m weak, why not borrow strength?
Improving his spear technique, learning Instructor Lin’s so-called absolute skills, both can be achieved.
The key to all this lies in gathering enough energy.
Lou Yi looked at the empty last column on the Attribute Panel, it seemed he needed to properly supervise Wu Biao, Yang Er, and those ruffians.
...
The commotion ended, and the entrance of Jia Family Manor returned to its quiet state.
"Ah Yi!" Wang En actively sought out Lou Yi, wearing a friendly smile as if nothing had happened before, "I’m so glad you’re okay."
Lou Yi glanced at him and was too lazy to bother with this fickle man, so he turned and left directly.
Seeing this, a shadow briefly crossed Wang En’s eyes.
Landlord Jia’s regard for Lou Yi far exceeded his expectations.
Could it be that this kid has really received Instructor Lin’s True Inheritance?
Thinking of this, Wang En’s heart burned as if on fire, jealousy twisting his face slightly.
"Brother Yi, you’re going to offend Wang En doing this." On the way back, Shi Zhan said worriedly.
"What does he matter to me?"
"Mainly because he often leads teams, and I fear he’ll make things difficult for you," Shi Zhan looked around, lowering his voice, "Wang En, that guy, is extremely petty, everyone who’s been in the manor long knows that."
"Yet Landlord Jia values him so much?"
"His fist skills are indeed impressive, he’s made several achievements. But give me another two years, and I won’t necessarily be weaker," Shi Zhan said, unconvinced.
The two senior instructors at Jia Family Manor, Cui Yuan excels in spear technique, Wang En is the strongest with fists.
Based on what Instructor Lin has said, Lou Yi could surmise that the two had previously been guided by the instructor.
As Lou Yi and Shi Zhan were chatting idly, someone came over with a message, "Brother Yi, someone outside is looking for you, seems to be named Yang Er."
"Alright, I’ll go now."
Lou Yi was delighted, just as he felt sleepy, someone came to offer a pillow.
The ruffian Yang Er stood at Jia Mansion’s entrance, clothes disheveled, chest exposed, with an air of nonchalance.
Looking enviously around, when Lou Yi came out, he pointed at the red pillars and black plaques, exclaiming, "Brother, living in such a grand place makes us envious!"
Lou Yi couldn’t help but laugh, "I’m crammed with five others in one room, taking orders from the manor’s steward, occasionally standing guard or going out, what’s there to envy?"
"But it’s better than us, having one meal without knowing the next, rushing for a living every day."
This kind of rogue life, although seeming to offer freedom and swagger, is unstable, harassing and making trouble carries not insignificant risks.
"Once I establish myself in the manor, let’s see if I can bring you in," Lou Yi thought for a moment, then said.
"Brother, you’re righteous!" Yang Er said happily.
Then, he relayed the recent news about the dead to Lou Yi.
There were two incidents: In Wulao Village, an old lady claimed she saw a ghost, was laughing and crying upon returning home, and died soon after. The elderly man in Linhai Village passed in his sleep at night.
Lou Yi took out a handful of copper coins, "The extra is for your drinks."
Yang Er didn’t stand on ceremony with Lou Yi, cheerfully taking the money.
Having received the information, Lou Yi requested a leave and went out with Housekeeper Wu.
