Becoming A Tech Tycoon Begins With Regression

CHAPTER 134: THE DOCTOR IN A BOX [1]
"Are you sure this is not just because you want to see, Ethan?" Liam teased as they walked through the lab only to receive a karate chop in the middle of his head.
"Ouch." He let out as he rubbed where she hit.
"Keep talking and I’ll hit you even harder," Lizzy warned as she glared at him.
They were currently headed out of the lab and towards a car that would lead them to OmniTech’s new HQ.
Why?
Well, it’s because their first prototype was finally ready after just a month. Even she couldn’t believe it.
When OmniTech promised resources, he wasn’t kidding. In just a few days of their arrival, they had successfully restarted their research...well, more like continued from where they stopped since OmniTech had ’borrowed’ the seized files back from the government and completed it.
Finally, a prototype was ready, which was currently stored in the box that Liam held in his other hand.
Since Ethan was the one OmniTech put in charge of overseeing this project, he was the one that they reported any progress to...him and Lillian, which was why the siblings were heading to OmniTech Corp.
They walked into the black car waiting for them and without a word, the driver started driving towards their destination.
Liam placed the reinforced box gently on his lap and looked down at it with a bit pride, "Hard to believe this little thing was what caused the government to shut us down."
Lizzy gave him a glance before smiling, "I still can’t believe we got it off paper and finally into the real world."
"Yeah," Liam muttered, "all thanks to OmniTech and Ethan."
As much as done enough research and had almost completed their ’doctor in a box’, there was always something missing.
The lack of that one thing basically made their idea useless since that was the only bottleneck but with Ethan’s help, they quickly solved it.
This came as a surprise to Lizzy but not Liam since he knew that Ethan was Jack of all trades.... Maybe even master of most.
Lizzy turned to look out the window as the buildings zooming past, her reflection faint against the tinted glass.
"You know," she said after a while, "Ever since our research was seized and shut down, I used to think what we were building was impossible. Not because of the tech, but because no one would ever let us finish it."
Liam chuckled under his breath. "Well, no one except Ethan and OmniTech."
That earned him a small smile. "Yeah. Them and this miracle company."
"Honestly, I sometimes wonder if they’re just two mad men," Liam said with a chuckle, "because no one sane would risk poking this government like this, after all, they risked getting shutdown if the government found out that we’re using the same research they seized."
Lizzy let out a short laugh at that. "Mad men? Maybe. But maybe that’s what the world needs—a few mad men who aren’t afraid to move it forward."
She glanced at the reinforced case on Liam’s lap, her lips also curling up in pride, "can you imagine what this will mean once it goes public? No more months of testing, no more missed diagnoses, it’s everything we dreamt of."
"Still feels unreal," Liam agreed with a small smile.
The Doctor in a Box....maybe they should think of a better name...was now capable of analyzing a person’s entire biological profile from a single pulse scan.
It read everything, from cellular decay, hormone balance, immune reactivity, even potential mutagenic pathways.
In simple terms, it was like having a device that could do a full health scan at the palm of your hand or rather at your wrists.
The scan would then be crossed referenced with years of data collection by Athena and stored in their servers in Palo Alto alongside the analyzed data from Zurich to generate a predictive medical report that could estimate a person’s likelihood of developing any known disease within the next ten years.
And if it detected something unknown—something not in the database—it would flag it, isolate the anomaly, and begin building a new data model around it in real time.
It could both predict and learn from disease which made it a lot better than what Liam and Lizzy had in mind.
The drive continued in silence, the two watching building after building go past them and soon enough, the car stopped.
The door was opened by the driver and they got down in front of a high rise building, that held a simple logo of OmniTech Corp, a silver infinity symbol with a blue glow at one end and just beneath it was the company name.
And even lower was the tagline: [Humanity. Refined
1.]
The tower structure stood proudly beside a few others.
"Alright then," Lizzy said, "let’s go in."
The two walked towards the glass door, pushed it open and were immediately welcomed by the cool AC air and the bustling of ground floor employees moving around.
"Good afternoon," the receptionist greeted with a smile when they got close to her desk. "Mr. Carter and Ms. Hayes are expecting you. The elevator to the thirty-seventh floor is ready."
"Thank you," Lizzy said as they stepped toward the transparent elevator.
Once inside, they tapped the button for the thirty-seventh floor and waited as the elevator rose with them upwards.
The higher they went, the more they could see people going about their various tasks in the company.
Compared to what it previously was, OmniTech Corp now looked like a real company, one that matched their multi million net worth right now.
With a ding, the elevator doors opened letting them off the floor of their destination.
There were only three offices on this floor, as far as they could see, well three doors would be more accurate since the third wasn’t the office but a conference room.
Walking towards the first of the three doors, Liam adjusted his grip on the reinforced case while Lizzy straightened her blazer and brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Their expressions switched from casual to professional as they moved forward.
They stopped in front of the first door, the one with the frosted glass panel that read:
Lillian Hayes – COO.
Raisinga hand, Lizzy knocked twice and waited for a short while before she heard, "come in."
