Becoming Enkidu in DxD
Chapter 121 121: Before the Battle Against Loki!
"Sirzechs, that seal won't hold Loki and Fenrir for long."
"You're right. The moment it breaks, we'll have to suppress them immediately."
Sirzechs Lucifer and Ajuka Beelzebub's eyes naturally turned to a single figure in the room—Shin Akira.
Despite his young age, he stood on equal footing with Maou-class beings. Not only that, he was the wielder of the Boosted Gear, one of the Thirteen Longinus Sacred Gears, known as the Dragon Emperor's Gauntlet. He also bore the mythical Chains of Heaven, a Divine Construct from a forgotten age—one feared as a weapon against gods themselves.
A warrior holding two supreme artifacts. A man with the potential to rival legends.
He was, without a doubt, the ideal candidate for the mission.
"…Alright. Leave it to me. Ajuka, send me in."
Ajuka smiled faintly. "We appreciate it, Shin Akira."
"No need for formalities. Honestly, I'm curious. I've always wanted to see just how powerful the so-called 'God-Devouring Wolf' really is."
Sirzechs let out a wry chuckle.
He recalled Grayfia's report on Akira. One note stood out clearly—a battle maniac at heart. A true warrior who lived and breathed for combat.
"I've already contacted Valhalla. Mjölnir will be delivered shortly," said Odin, stepping forward.
There was a slight trace of guilt in the old god's voice.
His original purpose for visiting the Underworld had been to strengthen ties between pantheons. He hadn't expected Loki to choose this moment to rebel.
"Mjölnir, huh?" Akira raised an eyebrow. "Well… by the time it gets here, the fight might already be over."
"You sound confident. But… do you understand, boy? Fenrir isn't bound by logic. He's the very root of Ragnarok—the beast fated to devour the gods."
"A creature far stronger than Loki himself, right? But for now… his power is still suppressed. If I can defeat, or better yet, kill Loki before he unleashes him fully… I might be able to stop it at the source."
"And yet… you still intend to go?" Odin asked, his one eye narrowed with both admiration and concern.
Akira smiled faintly.
"If Fenrir kills me… then that's simply the extent of my strength."
"…Cocky brat," Odin muttered, then burst into hearty laughter. "I like that."
Standing behind him, a young woman in silver armor blushed furiously. Her silvery hair shimmered under the lights, and her violet eyes were fixed on Akira.
Rossweisse, one of Valhalla's chosen Valkyries.
So this is the man Odin-sama spoke of...
Her heart skipped a beat.
Strong, handsome, calm under pressure… He's exactly my type!
Before her imagination could run wild, Rias Gremory stepped forward, her crimson hair trailing behind her like silk.
"I'm coming too," she declared, her peerage following closely behind her.
Moments later, Sona Sitri and her own peerage moved to join them as well.
"You're all serious about this?" Akira asked, sweeping his gaze over them. "This isn't just a scuffle. I can't guarantee your safety."
"Which is precisely why we have to go," Rias answered, her eyes clear with resolve. "My coming-of-age ceremony is approaching. This… will be my true baptism."
Akira nodded.
They had come far since their early days. Under Azazel's tutelage, their combat skills had improved dramatically. And more importantly—in the original timeline, they were a part of this very battle.
Their roles were not something to be cast aside.
It wasn't just Loki and Fenrir. Hati, Sköll, and even a replica of Midgardsormr—the World-Ending Serpent—were also involved.
Fighting alone was out of the question.
"You've made your decision, Rias?" Sirzechs asked gently.
"I have, Onii-sama."
"Then go."
A soft smile touched his lips.
His little sister had grown up. No longer the naive girl he once had to protect at every turn—she was now someone who could soar on her own wings.
"Count me in as well."
Sona stepped forward—but the moment she did, Serafall Leviathan, her older sister, practically exploded with panic.
"S-So-tan?! This is too dangerous! Are you really going?!"
Serafall's concern wasn't unwarranted. She knew all too well how lethal Fenrir could be. Even she, as one of the Four Maou, wouldn't dare fight the beast alone.
Letting her precious little sister join that battlefield?
Unthinkable.
"Onee-sama… I'm not a child anymore."
"Soo-tan~!!" Serafall whimpered, eyes glossy with tears.
Sona calmly placed a hand over her sister's face to block her incoming cheek-glomp. "Don't embarrass yourself in public, please."
Ajuka chuckled quietly at the exchange.
Yes… the new generation of devils had grown.
"Rossweisse, you'll be joining them as well."
"Yes, Odin-sama."
Naturally.
Valhalla couldn't just sit back and let the devils clean up their mess. Besides, Rossweisse had past experience with Loki—and her presence would be strategically valuable.
People often underestimated her because of her awkward personality or stingy habits, but there was a reason she had once been chosen as Odin's personal bodyguard.
She was no weakling.
And so, the team was decided.
Akira would lead.
Rias, Sona, and their peerages would provide support.
Rossweisse would serve as both a warrior and a link to Valhalla.
A complex teleportation circle appeared at the center of the hall—its runes glowing with Ajuka's signature magical theory.
One by one, the team stepped into the light.
And in the next moment—they vanished.
—
They arrived in a barren wasteland deep within the Underworld.
A field of jagged stone and wind-blasted rock stretched to the horizon.
Not far ahead, a massive magic circle crackled ominously, glowing faintly with unstable energy.
This was where Loki and Fenrir had been sealed—for now.
But the seal was beginning to fail.
A deafening crack rang out.
Dark, primal magic erupted into the sky.
The seal shattered.
"Ajuka… you bastard…! You dare trap me?!" Loki's furious roar echoed across the land, eyes blazing with divine fury.
His perfect plan was in ruins. And now, as he looked down and saw a group of teenagers standing in defiance, he could barely contain his rage.
"Sirzechs and Ajuka… only sent children? What kind of joke is this?!"
His face twisted into a sneer of disdain. "You'll regret underestimating me."
He raised his arms.
"Come, my children…"
More magic circles flared into existence.
From the first, a massive black wolf leapt out—its body towering, muscles rippling beneath fur as dark as the void.
Fenrir. The God-Devouring Wolf.
From the others came two smaller—but still deadly—beasts.
Hati and Sköll, Fenrir's offspring.
Each radiated a pressure comparable to a Maou.
And then—
From the final summoning circle… a colossal dragon emerged.
Its serpent-like body coiled around the sky, its scales glistening with ancient malice. The mere breath it exhaled carried death and curses older than time itself.
Midgardsormr.
No, not the original. A replica—created by Loki himself. But even so… it was terrifying.
A living symbol of world-ending destruction.
And with that—the final battle began.
