CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39: TOP-TIER WORKHORSE PHYSIQUE
With Shen Yifan’s help, Chen Yiyang filed a report with the property management and completed the parking space ownership transfer.
As one of the largest commercial areas in Jin City, parking spaces in Jin City Center are indeed quite valuable.
Before the housing prices dropped, the price of a parking space here could reach around 200,000.
Currently, the price has definitely dropped a lot, but there’s no market price to refer to.
Because as long as any become available, they are bought up by the property management and turned into paid parking spaces.
This parking space is intended for Chen Yiyang’s personal use. The apartment Liu Zhaodi traded with him didn’t include a parking spot, and lately, parking has been quite troublesome for Chen Yiyang.
"Boss, where’s our new company? Can I go check it out now?"
Shen Yifan, while putting two contracts into his small backpack, asked.
"Then come with me in a bit."
Chen Yiyang led Shen Yifan to his Porsche 911.
Shen Yifan asked, "Boss, is there any concern if I sit in the passenger seat?"
"Oh, no, I’m single."
"Then I’m relieved." Shen Yifan casually opened the car door and got in.
While starting the car, Chen Yiyang curiously inquired.
"If my passenger seat can’t hold the opposite sex, and you sitting in the back makes you look like the boss, where do you plan to sit?"
"In the trunk." Shen Yifan answered as if it were a matter of course.
Then, seeing Chen Yiyang’s bewildered look, he quickly laughed and said, "Just kidding. I’ll just take a cab and follow you."
"You’re quite lively." Chen Yiyang thought, this girl is even more outgoing than him.
According to today’s popular saying, she should be an extrovert or a social butterfly.
"Life is already hard enough, why make it harder for oneself."
Shen Yifan seemed to have an open mind.
On the road, Chen Yiyang chatted with her about the compensation package.
"How did your previous boss pay you?"
"Because I borrowed 200,000 from my boss, my monthly take-home is just 1,200 for living expenses.
The rest of my salary is fixed at 3,000 a month, used to pay back the boss. It adds up to 36,000 a year, and I’ve been paying for over two years."
"By the way," Shen Yifan continued, "because recently my former boss completely ran out of money, the projects I worked on all fell through.
So my living expenses haven’t been paid for three months now, but they do provide food and lodging. However, that 3,600 is the money my former boss owes me, and we won’t count that in my debt here."
"I believe your former boss ran out of money." Chen Yiyang said, "Otherwise, he wouldn’t have transferred such a top ’worker ’contract to someone else."
"Actually, he wasn’t that bad. He lent me money without a promissory note. But if you need one, I can write it up for you later."
"I don’t need it either." Chen Yiyang finally trusted Liu Chen’s evaluation of this girl.
She’s quite an honest ’worker.’
Chen Yiyang quickly drove to his store’s entrance.
Zhou Jianjun was cleaning inside the store at the time. Seeing Chen Yiyang’s car coming from afar, he stood at the store’s entrance to greet them.
"Boss." Zhou Jianjun greeted.
"Meet your future colleague." Chen Yiyang introduced Shen Yifan to Zhou Jianjun, and then the three went into the store together.
"Your salary will match Zhou Jianjun’s. The basic salary is 5,000 a month with overtime pay, and then you repay me 30,000 yearly at a fixed rate of 3,000 per month."
"Thank you, boss." Shen Yifan’s eyes curved into a smile, very pleased with the compensation.
"However, I don’t provide food and lodging here." After saying this, Chen Yiyang thought that without providing housing, the girl might not be able to rent a decent place nearby with the remaining 2,000.
He remembered that the guest room in Chang Yuning’s apartment hadn’t been rented out yet.
She could just stay there, and he could learn about her private behavior from Chang Yuning at the same time.
So he called Chang Yuning to confirm she indeed hadn’t found a roommate.
"My friend has a guest room for 1,500 a month rent. I’ll only charge you 800."
After Chen Yiyang said this, he felt it was unfair to Zhou Jianjun to give Shen Yifan an extra 700 a month, so he followed up by saying,
"But this subsidy is not free. You’ll have to work hours that don’t coincide with Zhou Jianjun’s. Zhou Jianjun works from 9 AM to 5 PM. You’ll work from 2 PM to 10 PM. The 700 will be your night shift allowance."
"No problem, boss." Shen Yifan calculated that with this arrangement, she still had the same 1,200 monthly living expenses as before.
Her quality of life without decline.
"So what will I mainly be doing after that?" Shen Yifan continued to inquire.
"Our shop hasn’t opened yet. After that, you have three main tasks: the first is to watch the store, the second is bookkeeping, and the third is that occasionally there might be tasks that require going out, and depending on who between you and Zhou Jianjun is more convenient, I’ll have one of you follow."
After tentatively settling these matters, Chen Yiyang pondered.
For the upcoming acquisition of Glazed Beads, perhaps he could use this little accountant as a cover.
So he spoke up, "I have a job tonight. Why don’t you come with me?"
"No problem." The young accountant cheerfully followed Chen Yiyang, walking more smoothly than him, not looking like a person with a disability at all.
Chen Yiyang had been to Mingyang Village once before.
That’s where Hans’ dog market is located.
It’s called a village, but because it’s so close to Jin City, it’s bustling like a town.
However, after arriving there, it took Chen Yiyang a full half-hour to find house number 74 in a rather secluded alley. Behind the door number was an old, shabby bungalow with a small courtyard.
"Hey, brother, what brings you here today?"
An acquaintance standing near the house greeted Chen Yiyang.
"Third Brother," Chen Yiyang called out warmly.
This was another familiar face.
Sanzi, who had helped when buying Hans.
"I was planning to visit the dog market, but halfway there, I thought the surroundings looked nice, so I wandered around."
"You’re not lost, are you?" Sanzi chuckled, "Don’t be embarrassed. This place is indeed a bit remote and full of alleys. It’s easy for outsiders to get lost."
"You’ve seen right through me." Chen Yiyang didn’t deny Sanzi’s words but just asked, "What are you up to here, Third Brother?"
"An elderly relative passed away, so I’m here to help tidy up the place where the old person lived."
The two chatted as they walked.
Chen Yiyang naturally followed Sanzi into the courtyard of the house.
"It stinks, it’s all trash. I told you not to let your mom pick up garbage everywhere, but you don’t listen. Now all this junk is such a hassle to clear out!"
Upon entering the courtyard, a middle-aged woman’s scolding voice could be heard.
In the courtyard stood a middle-aged woman and a middle-aged man, with the woman complaining incessantly.
Sanzi quietly explained, "That’s the old lady’s son and daughter-in-law. The old lady had only one son, but her daughter-in-law is really fierce, so they drove her to live alone in this small courtyard.
The old lady usually lived by collecting garbage and selling it for money. Everything in this courtyard was collected by her."
Hearing Sanzi’s words, Chen Yiyang looked around.
Not only the courtyard, but even the inside of the house, which was about to be a dangerous building, was piled with miscellaneous items, plastic bottles, waste paper boxes, and all sorts of odd things.
"I’m not doing it. You figure it out. I’m planning to sell this house anyway. Call me after you clean up, and I’ll have people come to see the house."
The middle-aged woman didn’t even glance at Sanzi and Chen Yiyang, storming off angrily.
"Third Brother, sorry you had to see this." The middle-aged man walked over to greet Sanzi and, with Sanzi’s introduction, greeted Chen Yiyang as well.
"Should I call someone to take the junk?" Sanzi suggested.
"Cars can’t get into this alley. After seeing the photos, they said we need to pay them to come in and take the stuff."
"It’s outrageous, giving them stuff for free, and they still want money." Sanzi was very upset.
"I’m at my wits’ end too." The middle-aged man looked worried.
"Third Brother helped me out with a big favor last time. How about this, I know someone who collects junk. I’ll call him to come clean up. You don’t have to worry about it."
"That would be great." Sanzi and the middle-aged man quickly thanked him.
Chen Yiyang went outside, took out his phone, and called a recycling station to explain the situation of the courtyard.
"If the car can’t get in, it’ll cost 300 yuan," the other party directly quoted a price.
After all, the courtyard was piled full of various items, but apart from valuable paper boxes and bottles, there was also a lot of pure trash.
The recycling station would also have to put in effort to haul these things out to dispose of them.
"Sure." Chen Yiyang agreed to the price and mentioned two conditions.
"But my friend doesn’t want to spend that money. I’ll pay you, and just say you know me and are doing it for free. Also, if there’s something I need among the things cleared out, I’ll keep it and not give it to you."
The other party agreed happily, as the conditions weren’t too unreasonable.
More than an hour later, three young men from the recycling station arrived and started handling the junk in the courtyard.
While dealing with the innermost part of the house, Chen Yiyang saw the box mentioned in the intel, the one containing the Roman Glazed Beads.
So when the box was carried out to the street, Chen Yiyang stepped forward, took the box, and placed it directly on the back seat of his car.
"Boss, what’s this?" Shen Yifan, who was waiting in the car for Chen Yiyang and almost falling asleep, asked.
"It’s something I just collected. Drive it directly to the store." Chen Yiyang tossed the car keys to Shen Yifan. "You have a driver’s license, right?"
"Don’t worry, I got it back in college." Shen Yifan slid over to the driver’s seat and started the car.
When Chen Yiyang watched the rear of the Porsche 911 disappear down the street, he suddenly remembered.
Wasn’t Shen Yifan’s leg fine back in college? Now with only one leg left, can he drive or not?
