Chapter 304: Mutual Attacks and Insults
CHAPTER 304: CHAPTER 304: MUTUAL ATTACKS AND INSULTS
Ye Ningwan rolled her eyes: "Who plagiarized you."
Then, with a serious expression, she said: "I think we should operate first, but not brain surgery—treat the stomach bleeding instead. There’s not much intracranial bleeding initially and it’s already under control. The scans show that the blood isn’t flowing; it’s congealed and stuck in the skull seams, so there’s no immediate danger. But the stomach bleeding is ongoing, and if we don’t treat it quickly, causing reflux might really endanger the patient."
"Do you understand medicine at all, coming up with such random ideas? This isn’t how you treat this illness," the young doctor mocked Ye Ningwan.
Feng Jiuzun angrily retorted, "You know nothing."
The director, with a stern face, reprimanded the young doctor: "Young people should listen and learn more. Just because you’ve studied for a few years and seen a few surgeries, don’t think you know everything. The young lady actually makes a lot of sense. Call Director Wang and the others over immediately to discuss the treatment plan together."
Young doctor: "..."
"Hahaha, got a slap in the face, huh?" Feng Jiuzun said smugly.
Feng Huai kicked him: "Your grandfather is still in the hospital. What are you so smug about?"
Then he asked the director: "How confident are you about my father’s surgery?"
The director looked grim: "I can’t say for sure. The patient is very old, and there’s always risk with surgery. Adding old age to it, I can’t promise how confident I am."
"Please do your best," Feng Huai earnestly requested.
The director replied, "Rest assured, as doctors, it’s our duty."
He then turned to Ye Ningwan, "Young lady, I see you have a good understanding of medicine. Could you join us in discussing the treatment plan later? I know you’re a practitioner of traditional medicine, but you might still be able to help us."
"Of course," Ye Ningwan replied.
The director immediately asked Feng Jiuzun and Feng Huai to leave first and took Ye Ningwan and the other attending doctors to discuss the matter.
Soon, they agreed on a plan and brought Mr. Feng into the operating room.
Feng Huai, worried that the old man might not make it this time, called his two brothers and sister to come quickly.
Feng Qi was in Jiangcheng and got the news first, so he rushed over with Zhang Wenchi.
Zhang Meimei, who was out shopping for wedding supplies, came immediately upon hearing her grandfather was hospitalized.
The two other brothers were further away, but they said they’d make arrangements to come over immediately.
Ye Ningwan offered some suggestions before leaving the surgery to the director and his team.
Once the surgery was successful, she planned on using traditional medicine to help the old man recover quickly.
Feng Qi saw Ye Ningwan and immediately looked at her with disdain.
Zhang Meimei was even more abusive: "What are you doing here? Seeing you is so unlucky."
"Meimei, shut up," Feng Huai scolded.
Feng Jiuzun also defended Ye Ningwan, telling Zhang Meimei: "Thanks to Miss Ye, Grandpa made it to the hospital. Aren’t you old enough to know better? So ill-mannered."
"You’re accusing me of being ill-mannered? You’re even more immature than I am," Zhang Meimei retorted, angry.
Feng Qi was grinding his teeth in anger, thinking what a troublesome pair they were.
Feng Huai scolded, "Neither of you is behaving well, can you just shut up and wait for the old man to come out?"
Zhang Wenchi quickly apologized to Feng Huai and scolded Zhang Meimei.
Feng Huai couldn’t really do anything to Zhang Wenchi, quickly saying, "Brother-in-law, no need to be polite. Kids don’t understand, so don’t be upset."
"No problem, no problem," Zhang Wenchi said.
He then looked at Ye Ningwan and nodded slightly in thanks.
This made Feng Qi explode again.
"Zhang Wenchi, how dare you flirt with another woman in front of me? Are you treating me as if I’m dead?"
"What nonsense are you spouting? She saved your father, aren’t I allowed to thank her?" Zhang Wenchi replied angrily.
Feng Qi snorted in ridicule: "Thank her? Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. Back then, you were smitten with her mother, and now you see the same face, aren’t you especially excited?"
"You’re unreasonable," Zhang Wenchi trembled with anger.
Feng Huai was also speechless towards his sister and quickly tried to soothe her: "Sis, the old man’s still in surgery, is it really appropriate for you to act like this?"
"And you didn’t say anything to him?" Feng Qi felt wronged.
Seeing them about to quarrel, Ye Ningwan decided it was better not to linger.
"You all wait here. I suppose there’s nothing for me to do here anymore, so I’ll head back first."
Saying this, she got up to leave.
Feng Jiuzun quickly said, "I’ll escort you back."
"No need, it’s better for the family to stay here, just in case," Ye Ningwan declined.
Feng Jiuzun was torn.
He was worried something might happen to his grandfather, but he also wanted to escort Ye Ningwan.
However, Ye Ningwan really didn’t want him to, so she left swiftly.
Feng Jiuzun hesitated, caught by Zhang Meimei.
"Don’t be foolish, she’s married and you’re still following her around."
"Mind your own business. Worry more about yourself! Don’t let Leng Ziqing run off, or you’ll be at your wedding alone."
"You’re cursing me! Uncle, Mom, Cousin is cursing me!" Zhang Meimei stamped her foot in anger.
"You picked on her again," Feng Huai was so angry that he kicked Feng Jiuzun again.
"Hey."
Ye Ningwan had just left the hospital when she got a call from Wu Taotao.
Wu Taotao excitedly said, "Ningning, where are you? I’m already back in Jiangcheng."
"You’re back in Jiangcheng now?" Ye Ningwan was surprised.
With Zhang Meimei and Leng Ziqing set to have their wedding soon, wasn’t her return just in time to catch it?
"What, are you not happy I’m back? Quickly tell me where you are. I miss Jiangcheng’s food so much! Let’s bring Wangyue too and have a feast," Wu Taotao chattered on.
"Wangyue’s not in Jiangcheng. Tell me where you are, and I’ll come find you," Ye Ningwan replied.
Wu Taotao was quite disappointed hearing Wangyue wasn’t around, but gave her the address and asked her to come over.
Zhan Hanjue had arranged for a driver for Ye Ningwan.
So, Ye Ningwan had the driver take her there.
Not only was Wu Taotao there, but Ye Shao was also present.
Seeing Ye Ningwan, Ye Shao was thrilled as well.
Though not as exaggerated as Wu Taotao.
Wu Taotao immediately jumped onto Ye Ningwan, hugging her: "Ningning, I missed you."
"Taotao, you seem to have gained weight?" Ye Ningwan commented.
Wu Taotao immediately released her, touching her own face in surprise: "Really? I’ve truly gained weight?"
Then, she turned to complain to Ye Shao: "It’s all your fault, making all that food, and now I’ve gained weight."
"You’re not fat. My sister is just joking with you," Ye Shao said.
Ye Ningwan laughed: "Yes, yes, I’m just joking. Can’t even joke now?"
Wu Taotao stuck out her tongue.
Still, even being teased about her weight couldn’t quell her love for food.
She quickly pulled Ye Ningwan and Ye Shao inside, and the three of them ordered a tableful of dishes for a good feast.
Wu Taotao was back because school was starting and there was much to do.
Ye Shao was also there to report, having surprisingly been admitted to a university in Jiangcheng.
Ye Ningwan raised her glass to toast them.
"I heard Leng Ziqing and Zhang Meimei are getting married. Sure enough, power and money—a strong alliance."
Just then, one of the guests at a nearby table suddenly said it aloud during their conversation.
