Becoming The Bigshot's Only Love After Breaking Her Engagement
Chapter 47: His Ears Turned Red
CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 47: HIS EARS TURNED RED
Ye Ningwan knelt in front of Zhan Changwen’s tombstone for a long time.
Zhan Hanjue kept refusing to let her stand up, and she didn’t dare to, fearing he would kick her down again if she tried.
She felt her legs were numb, her blood wasn’t circulating, and if she continued to kneel, she definitely wouldn’t be able to stand up.
Finally, amidst her unbearable discomfort and eager anticipation, Zhan Hanjue slowly spoke: "Stand up!"
Ye Ningwan tried to move, but couldn’t stand.
Zhan Hanjue waited for a while, but seeing she hadn’t moved, couldn’t help but speak again: "No need to kneel anymore, stand up!"
"It’s not that I don’t want to stand, but I can’t." Ye Ningwan raised her head and looked at him pitifully.
Zhan Hanjue was speechless, and he pulled her up with one hand.
Ye Ningwan couldn’t stand at all, and after being forcibly pulled up, she collapsed onto him.
Zhan Hanjue was unprepared, and surprisingly staggered, almost falling.
"Sorry, my legs are numb," Ye Ningwan apologized.
Zhan Hanjue took a deep breath, and at that moment Wu called, saying he had found out where Mr. Ye and Mrs. Ye’s graves were.
"I’ll take you there," Zhan Hanjue said.
Ye Ningwan couldn’t walk at all, her legs were too numb, and her knees were injured. Although they weren’t bleeding, there was surely soft tissue damage.
Zhan Hanjue took a deep breath again and half-squatted in front of her: "Come up, I’ll carry you."
Ye Ningwan widened her eyes, but soon jumped onto his back, letting him carry her.
"You’re certainly not polite at all," Zhan Hanjue snorted coldly and carried her.
Ye Ningwan laughed sheepishly: "It’s just that my legs are numb; afraid of delaying your sleep, the sooner we’re finished with the offerings, the sooner you can go home and rest."
Inside, she complained, wasn’t it because you kicked me, causing my kneecap injury? And made me kneel for so long. If you don’t carry me, who will?
"This is your parents’ tombstone."
Zhan Hanjue took Ye Ningwan to her parents’ tombstone and put her down.
The two tombstones stood side by side, with the names Ye Zhuoliang and Tang Xiaowan written on them, along with their photos.
Ye Ningwan and Tang Xiaowan looked very alike, but similarly, Tang Xiaowan’s features seemed much softer than Ye Ningwan’s.
Ye Ningwan’s eyes reddened, wanting to kneel, but then she thought, how much her parents loved her. How could they bear to see her kneeling down in distress, so she didn’t kneel.
"Mom and dad, I’ve come to see you. Sorry it took so long to visit. But don’t worry, I’m doing well now. Next time I come, I’ll bring you good news. By the way, I found Shao’er; don’t worry, I’ll take good care of him."
Ye Ningwan stood in front of her parents’ tombstone, smiling and saying some words.
All were positive words, without mentioning the sordid things Mrs. Lin did.
Zhan Hanjue quietly listened nearby.
After she finished speaking, he took a step forward and said quietly, "I am Zhan Hanjue, please rest assured, I’ll take good care of Ye Ningwan."
Ye Ningwan was taken aback and looked at him with surprise.
Zhan Hanjue expressionlessly walked to Ye Ningwan again and half-squatted down: "Come on, I’ll take you back."
Ye Ningwan lay on Zhan Hanjue’s back.
After a while, she asked softly: "Why promise my parents? Didn’t you say, if you couldn’t be attracted to me in a month, you’d let me pack up and leave?"
"You have more than twenty days to make an effort; the deceased is significant, and you should reassure your parents," Zhan Hanjue said.
Ye Ningwan smiled lightly.
Her heart felt warm.
It had been a long time since anyone could warm her heart like this.
"Tell me, what do I have to do to make you attracted to me?" Ye Ningwan leaned closer to Zhan Hanjue’s ear and asked softly.
Zhan Hanjue’s earlobes turned red, and his ears couldn’t help but twitch.
He scolded sternly: "If you talk, then talk, don’t get so close."
Ye Ningwan: "..."
"Your ears are red."
"No," Zhan Hanjue denied.
Ye Ningwan smiled lightly, as if they weren’t red, but they clearly were.
Why didn’t she notice before that his ears could turn red?
Well, he’s tall, and with ears being such a hidden spot, it’s normal for her not to notice.
"Are your ears your sensitive spot?" Ye Ningwan approached his ear again and blew softly.
As expected, Zhan Hanjue’s ears twitched again and turned even redder.
"Ye Ningwan, if you dare act recklessly again, do you believe I’ll leave you here?" Zhan Hanjue threatened and scolded.
Ye Ningwan hurriedly put both hands around his neck tightly: "Alright, alright, I won’t fool around. You mustn’t leave me here; I’d be scared."
"Aren’t you Bai Zhi? How can a Divine Doctor be afraid of ghosts?"
"I’m not afraid of ghosts, but wolves. Who knew there’d be wolves here," Ye Ningwan said aggrievedly.
"By the way, shouldn’t we report this to the police? What if they attack others?" Ye Ningwan said worriedly.
"Wu has already gone to handle it. Don’t worry about others, worry about whether I’ll kick you out in a month."
"Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you like me," Ye Ningwan vowed.
Zhan Hanjue curled his lips slightly and carried her down.
But, approaching the door, he suddenly put her down: "Walk on your own."
"You’ve carried me for so long, you can’t keep carrying me for a bit longer?" Ye Ningwan, after being dropped, limped after him.
Zhan Hanjue said nothing.
Ye Ningwan shifted her gaze: "Are you embarrassed?"
Not wanting to be seen?
"Noisy," Zhan Hanjue angrily pinched her lips shut, making her stop talking.
Quickly, he let her go and continued to walk forward.
Ye Ningwan pouted her lips, realizing he was still quite reserved.
"Madam, what’s happened?"
Wu saw them coming down with Ye Ningwan limping and quickly asked with concern.
Ye Ningwan said: "I fell. Who is available to carry me down?"
Wu looked at Zhan Hanjue.
Zhan Hanjue was expressionless, with a somber face, saying nothing.
Wu laughed awkwardly.
Since the boss wasn’t speaking, who dared to carry her down?
"Never mind, I’ll walk myself."
Ye Ningwan endured the pain and staggered forward.
Fortunately, the car was parked at the bottom of the hill.
Once they got to the bottom, the bodyguard promptly opened the car door, and she could finally sit in the car.
"Wu, did you report the wolves to the police? Have the police found them?"
After getting into the car, Ye Ningwan remembered the wolves and quickly asked Wu, sitting in the front passenger seat.
"Ah?"
Wu was stunned for a moment, glanced at Zhan Hanjue, and awkwardly replied: "It’s been handled, madam, don’t worry."
"That’s good; so many wolves running outside, so dangerous." Ye Ningwan breathed a sigh of relief.
At this moment, her phone rang.
Taking it out and looking, it was Wu Taotao calling.
Ye Ningwan quickly closed the screen, eyeing Zhan Hanjue nervously.
The phone rang again; she pressed the button three times, but it kept ringing anew.
Ye Ningwan closed her eyes; Wu Taotao was truly persistent and relentless.
"Answer," Zhan Hanjue commanded in a deep voice.
Ye Ningwan chuckled awkwardly: "It’s not an important call, no need to answer."
Zhan Hanjue turned his head to look at her and suddenly reached out and snatched her phone.
Ye Ningwan reacted too late.
Zhan Hanjue had already pressed the answer button, and Wu Taotao’s voice came through.
"Ningning, how did it go? Did you manage to get Zhan Hanjue? If you can’t, then drug him first and sleep with him later."
