Chapter 139: 0139 Scroll through Twitter messages_1 Chapter 139: 0139 Scroll through Twitter messages_1 Ellen Young’s gaze hardened as Irvin Jones, beside her, chuckled in a somewhat foolish manner, “Doggy is good.”
He tried to reach out to touch the puppy, but Ellen promptly stopped him, “This little dog isn’t raised by anyone, it might bite people, don’t touch the doggy.”
Irvin, still in a daze, drew back his hand obediently after hearing her words, echoing Ellen, “Bite, doggy bite!”
Ellen nodded, “Yes.”
Once the little dog had finished eating, it roamed around the fence gate, wagging its tail at Ellen.
Looking at the little creature, she hadn’t been interested in keeping pets before, but now faced with a dog that had shown up at her door, it wasn’t like she couldn’t keep it.
The little black dog was still a bit scared, lingering at the doorway, not daring to come in, yet not leaving.
Ellen quickly crafted a simple straw nest for it, left the fence gate open, and got busy with her own matters, while the dog lay there, not leaving either.
Ellen swiftly prepared the spare ribs and potatoes, and the moment they were ready, the aroma had already made Irvin’s mouth water profusely. He rushed in, asking incessantly, “Ellen, what did you make, I’m hungry, hungry!”
He clutched the snack jar due to mere craving, for usually after having sweets he wouldn’t feel like eating a meal, but today’s aroma was irresistible.
Ellen laughed and ladled a full bowl for him, then took him back, “Alright, let’s go back and have Grandma feed you.”
Irvin bobbed his head, “Okay, okay, okay!”
As they approached the door, the little black dog also caught the scent and, seeing Ellen leave, it wagged its tail and followed from a distance.
After Ellen took Irvin back, she brought a big bowl of the potato-cooked spare ribs to Aunt Walker.
It goes without saying that Aunt Walker was pleasantly surprised; she did not decline and thanked Ellen profusely.
Seeing Irvin carrying a big jar of sweets out from her home, Aunt Walker sensed they were expensive just by the packaging and insisted that Irvin return them.
Children couldn’t understand these things, and with a pouted mouth, Irvin hesitated a bit, so Ellen cheerfully said, “They were meant for him to eat in the first place, let him keep them to enjoy slowly.”
Aunt Walker thanked Ellen heartily again, and Irvin, following suit and knowing he’d gotten a bargain, genuinely thanked Ellen.
Ellen smiled warmly and waved her hand before heading back.
The little black dog followed her the whole time; it waited outside while she was at Aunt Walker’s house, and now that she returned, it went back to the straw nest Ellen had made at the doorway.
Ellen gave it some spare ribs that had cooled down a bit.
As it gnawed on the bones, it looked longingly at the happy, frolicking chicks inside the courtyard.
Ellen, busy with her affairs, occasionally glanced at it; it paced around the doorway but still wouldn’t come in.
After a while, Ellen took out her cellphone to check the news, as her Twitter was often updated with entertainment news, so it regularly pushed gossip her way.
At a glance, she saw that Lucy Wood was trending again.
#Rumor has it “People of the World” female lead will be Lucy Wood#
Seeing this message, she thought, wasn’t this already a sure thing?
She clicked in and quickly browsed through, finding the usual suspects: those expressing disbelief, fans squabbling, and others secretly or openly belittling Lucy Wood.
Ellen rarely watched TV dramas and would only watch a few movies to relax. She wasn’t picky about genres, and now, with more time and renewed interest, she searched for TV dramas Lucy Wood had acted in.
In her early years, Lucy Wood took on many average roles to make her debut.
The characteristics of some supporting female characters were rather hard to describe, and Ellen happened to pick one where Lucy played such a role.
