Becoming the Vampire Progenitor in Central Europe
Chapter 76: Vampire City?
The concept of status hierarchy was like a level restriction bar. Although according to Norton's own thinking, he possessed a soul equal in status to God's, it was quite clear he still didn't have God's great power. It was just that God couldn't control his soul, which gave him unlimited developmental space.
However, the independence of his soul still brought him a very useful ability: the capacity to cultivate his own creations by feeding them his flesh and blood.
Other species, from their souls to their bodies, were all created by God. Whether from a genetic perspective or a status hierarchy perspective, anything cultivated would still be God's product, unable to escape God's genetic lockdown. Only he, Norton, because his soul was different, was essentially genetically different, and could cultivate species that God's genetics could not produce. This was the reason he possessed this so-called creative ability.
Norton felt he should make good use of this advantage to make his own life a little easier.
Norton left Priest Abraham's home and returned to his own clock tower.
"Hahaha, Rino City is indeed Rino City, it's just so advantageous for me, Norton!"
Norton reached out, took down Coal Ball hanging from the ceiling, and placed it in his hand.
Even though it had sucked blood, causing Coal Ball's body to be less withered than before, it still looked like a bat dried corpse compared to before.
This appearance made Norton involuntarily recall a common vampire minion from a game in his previous life: the Gargoyle.
The setting of Gargoyles wasn't really that of vampire minions;
only in a game called The Elder Scrolls was there such a setting. In the medieval era, Gargoyles were seen as protectors of cathedrals.
For example, the roof of Notre Dame has various carvings of Gargoyles.
Looking at Coal Ball's current withered appearance, it bore some resemblance to the Gargoyles he remembered from Warcraft.
So, could he, Norton, possibly cultivate Coal Ball into a Gargoyle? Using his own flesh and blood and his soul, which was equal in status to God's.
Every time he thought about his soul, Norton felt absolutely wonderful.
Since he had the ability to create, why shouldn't he, Norton, try more things?
Thinking this, Norton reached out, tore off a small piece of his own flesh, and then forcibly stuffed it into Coal Ball's mouth.
"Turn into a Gargoyle! Coal Ball, turn into a Gargoyle! Can you understand human speech?"
Norton began to conceptualize the Gargoyle he wanted in his mind, but just as he started, he suddenly thought of another problem.
"Wait, why can't I conceptualize it as God? Go straight to the top, become invincible under heaven!"
The corner of Norton's mouth twitched upwards uncontrollably. Although he knew this idea of his was certainly impossible to realize, that didn't stop him from trying.
Norton was just about to attempt it when he suddenly stopped his own train of thought.
"Hiss, if I can fantasize about Coal Ball becoming God, then why can't I fantasize about it becoming a twin-tailed little loli..."
This Hakino was once again clouded by lustful desires.
Rino City had returned to peace, at least on the surface.
Even the coincidental death events at the Rino City Church had ceased to occur.
Norton's fantasies of turning Coal Ball into God or a twin-tailed little loli were completely useless. After all, he wasn't God, and his so-called creative ability was completely different from God's creative power.
If God, the venerable one, could pinch out new lifeforms by casually deducting a bit of his own genetics, then Norton was, at best, adding one genetic strand to the lifeforms He had pinched, thereby causing a certain mutation based on the original foundation of that creature.
Saying he had God's status hierarchy was purely flattering him;
to put it bluntly, he was just a low-level mutant. At least for now.
His so-called creative ability was merely using his unique code to slightly alter one of the fundamental codes of God's creation, thereby stealing a portion of ownership over that creature.
For example, with Priest Abraham, his underlying code still belonged to God. God still possessed absolute control over him. What Norton possessed was only the code that caused Priest Abraham's mutation. His so-called control ability was only control over this code that caused Priest Abraham's mutation, thereby granting him absolute control over Abraham's life hierarchy.
After all, whether it was the underlying code or the fundamental code, only when combined did they form Priest Abraham. If any part was removed, Priest Abraham would die.
Rino City was calm on the surface, but beneath this calm facade surged undercurrents.
Since Norton's flesh and blood had the ability to cultivate minions, he, Norton, would not let it go to waste.
However, cultivating these minions had certain limitations. At the very least, before the mutation was complete, it didn't grant him, Norton, the ability to control them. Therefore, when using his flesh and blood to mutate creatures, he would only choose members of his own bat family.
To ensure the bat family's reproduction and survival wouldn't be interrupted, Norton decided to only cultivate old bats. Whichever bat was old and close to death, he would cultivate that one.
The younger ones were all left to reproduce naturally, thereby expanding the number of members in his, Norton's, family.
So currently, the only ones Norton chose to cultivate were Coal Ball and Coal Ball's wife.
But the minion-creating ability of Coal Ball and his wife couldn't be wasted. Although the new-style vampires they cultivated might not obey him, Norton, or might even feign compliance while resisting, he, Norton, possessed complete control over their life hierarchy.
If he could turn the entire population of Rino City into vampires, that would at least be much better than the entire city being human.
At the very least, compared to humans, he, Norton, had complete dominance over the new-style vampires.
Thus, suddenly, Rino City began to experience a few more incidents of bats attacking people.
"You, old Norton, still squatting here? Be careful or you'll get carried off by a bat later!" A familiar, teasing voice sounded. Old Glenn walked past Norton, chuckling, heading towards a nearby tavern.
The area where Norton was located was close to the Church, inhabited at least by the middle class and above, so they could occasionally afford to visit the tavern.
With the end of the werewolf incident, Rino City had returned to its former state. However, the disadvantages brought by the heavy rain were beginning to show. In the area where Norton was, the middle-class area, it wasn't apparent. But in the areas inhabited by serfs and the poor, disturbances like murder, robbery, and even murder for cannibalism had begun to show some signs.
The Church remained holed up and inactive. Bishop Doxia, who knows what he was actually thinking, hadn't made the slightest move to this day, seemingly waiting for the Vatican to show a weakness.
This resulted in the Church Knights being stationed inside the Church and not going out, leaving the poor districts unsupervised and the order there even more chaotic.
Perhaps before long, order would completely collapse.
Norton remained squatting in his usual spot, his gaze roaming within the Church grounds.
He realized he wasn't the only one working hard recently;
at the very least, his bats hadn't fed on any Church personnel. New ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄhapters are published on Nov3lFɪre.ɴet
But during this period, he had sensed that feeling of control over the life hierarchy from two Church personnel.
This signified that within the Church, there were at least two more new-style vampires he had created!
If it wasn't the bats who created them, then who else could it be? Undoubtedly, it could only be Priest Abraham, whom he, Norton, had created based on the modern vampire template.
After all, being a vampire of the modern template, it was normal for him to possess the ability of the First Embrace.
"Priest Abraham is really working hard!" Norton's crimson gaze scanned the Church through the gaps in the ragged cloth, feeling that he really ought to give Priest Abraham a medal.
It had only been about two weeks since Priest Abraham became a vampire, and he had already created two new minions. He was practically a model worker!
Could it be that eventually the entire Rino City would fall completely?
Transforming entirely into a Vampire City?
