Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors
Chapter 150: End of the first round
CHAPTER 150: END OF THE FIRST ROUND
After saying that, the boy summons his stars to form his star patterns. Ten purple stars materialised around him and began to link with each other.
Alex didn’t wait for him to finish casting and summoned his stars as well. Five silver white stars appeared around him and quickly formed into a star pattern. His casting speed was just as fast as the last time he appeared on the arena and since he only needed to form a single star pattern instead of two, he was done before his opponent could even finish one.
Alex didn’t know if what the other party had said was true or not, or whether the range of telekinesis was limited because of one’s rank. But that didn’t really concern him, he casually raised his right hand and pointed it at his opponent while his eyes glowed with a similar light as his star pattern.
"Telekinesis!"
Everyone watched with interest, waiting to see if the words of Alex’s opponent were true or not.
In the arena, the boy grinned when he saw Alex pointing his right palm at him.
’What a fool, he still proceeded to cast his spell; hmph, think you can do anything just because your element is overpowered?’ the boy snorted inwardly and continued to connect his stars, he finally formed his second star pattern at the moment that Alex called out the name of his spell.
However, just when the boy was about to cast a lightning strike at Alex, he felt a powerful force suddenly wrap around him.
The boy was shocked, his eyes almost popped out from their sockets and he lost his voice for a moment.
The next second, the force around him tightened and lifted him into the air.
Everyone was shocked by this, their faces were painted with surprise as they watched the lightning mage struggling in the air. But Alex’s grip was firm, and he wasn’t able to break free, no matter how he struggled.
In the sitting area of the Dragonic Magic Academy, the vice dean had a relieved look on her face after seeing the situation in the arena.
Since Alex had gotten his opponent with telekinesis, the match was already over.
"As expected of the space element, it’s almost impossible to counter." She said with a tired smile.
With this win, their academy was now qualified to advance to the next round of the tournament; and it was all thanks to Alex.
The students also understood this; their admiration for him grew, and they stared at him with ecstatic glints in their eyes.
At the top of the stadium, the young lady turned to the Archmage and asked with a confused face.
"But that kid wasn’t wrong, there are limits to the control range of telekinesis at the Adept rank. So how was that Adept mage able to reach all the way to his opponent?"
"It simply means that he’s a genius with his element, the range they can cover varies from person to person. 20 to 50 meters is just the highest that has ever been discovered. "The Archmage explained with an interested look in his eyes, he was beginning to like Alex even more and was already having thoughts of taking him as his personal student.
Back in the arena, after getting captured by Alex I realised that it was impossible to break free with brute force. The lightning mage was almost shocked stupid. According to his teachers, not only should the range of Adept Mages’ telekinesis be limited, but the strength of their grip shouldn’t be too powerful.
But he felt like he was locked between two mountains right now. Why was this Adept mage so different from what he had been told?
Anyways, he wasn’t a stubborn person and didn’t want to end up as Alex’s previous opponent from Black Rose Magic Academy. The lightning mage surrendered after realising that it was impossible to keep fighting, Alex had no intentions of harming the other party either and dropped him after he surrendered.
The end of the match was announced with Dragonic Magic Academy taking the win. The stadium erupted in cheers as the name of the academy was projected onto the air.
Many of them had already classified Alex as a dark horse in this tournament after winning his two matches against stronger opponents; his space element had become a dream for all non-mages who had yet to awaken.
They wanted to be like this handsome brother, his space element allowed him to defeat opponents stronger than him. And even if they knew what his attack was going to be, there was nothing they could do about it.
How could you counter something that you couldn’t see?
In the sitting area of the Dragonic Magic Academy, the students were still cheering and celebrating Alex’s win even after he had already returned and was sitting down.
Many of them wanted to congratulate him but a glare from him forced them to keep their distance, but that didn’t stop them from celebrating by themselves. This win had secured their entry into the next round after all.
Jason, Glen, Amelia, and Ryan had complicated expressions on their faces. They felt happy that their academy had qualified for the second round of the tournament but also depressed that they didn’t contribute much and had only won a single match.
A flame of determination ignited in their hearts, and they swore to do better in the next round and not allow Alex to carry them again.
After Alex’s match, the next academies had their turns. The stadium was always filled with cheers, no matter which academy lost or won; both sides always had supporters who wanted their side to win and were ready to show their support through cheering.
By evening, all matches had ended and it was the official end of the first round of the tournament.
Clint came up to the arena again to address everyone, he said some words about the matches during the first round and also encouraged the academies that didn’t perform too well to return and train harder so that they could do better in the coming tournament.
After that, a new ranking was projected in the air. This ranking was created from the data obtained from the matches in the first round of the tournament; the names of all 27 academies were ranked according to the number of points they had earned.
This list also showed which academies were going to continue into the next round and those that would be leaving the tournament after today. While everyone could more or less tell which academies had qualified, the list was still necessary to confirm to those who had just been enjoying the show.
Staring at the list, everyone saw that a total of 22 academies had managed to meet the 30 points required to advance to the next round while five had fallen short by a few or large points.
Dragonic Magic Academy was currently ranked 21st with only 30 points, one more loss and they would have been part of the five academies that were leaving the tournament.
As for the top academies, some of them had gotten their complete fifty points from the tournament. This meant that they had won every single one of their matches.
The rest all had 40 points or 30 points just like the Dragonic Magic Academy.
After giving everyone time to study the list, the floating orbs ended the projection and Clint called it a day.
The second round of the tournament will start on Monday next week!
