Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors
Chapter 161: Back to the City
CHAPTER 161: BACK TO THE CITY
Alex made Alicia wait nearby while he went into the Union building alone. He entered the Union building using Void Walk and directly appeared in Owen’s office.
Owen was first surprised to see him but soon smiled in delight the next moment after discovering that it was Mr Chen who had appeared.
They had not seen or heard from Mr Chen since the tournament started, Owen was naturally curious as to why Mr Chen didn’t appear during the biggest event of the City.
He also told Alex that the Archmage still wanted to meet him and had an offer for him.
Alex didn’t say much on this matter, he replied that he was busy with something during the week so he couldn’t come watch the tournament and that he would see the Archmage when he had the chance.
Of course, Owen wouldn’t question more than that after hearing Mr Chen’s explanation and asked why he had come today. Alex replied that it was the usual thing, he wanted to sell beast corpses.
Owen immediately offered to handle the work for him and led Alex out of the office. Along the way, Owen brought up the matter of the strange weather in Balon City today and the bird’s cry. He told Alex that it was most likely a very powerful magic beast and that branch leader Clint, William, and the Archmage from one of the magic universities had gone to investigate.
They hadn’t returned yet.
Alex replied in a deep voice that he was aware of everything. He told Owen that he had already taken care of the magic beast, and the city had no reason to worry anymore.
He didn’t clarify if he had killed the beast or driven it away, but that piece of news was enough for Owen. The sudden change of the weather in the morning was more proof of Mr Chen’s words; the threat had been taken care of!
Owen expressed how grateful he was for Mr Chen’s help with the magic beast. He explained to Mr Chen how the wind had become so fierce at a certain point earlier today and had caused quite a lot of damage to properties and even some people.
Alex was stunned to hear this. Judging by the time that Owen described, the event must have happened when he was battling with Alicia.
So their fight had affected Balon City so much despite being so far away?!
Alex was beyond speechless, thankfully, his mask covered his face, so he looked like he didn’t react after hearing Owen’s words.
They soon reached the room where Alex usually brought out the magic beast corpses in his possession, Owen allowed him to go in alone after opening the door.
After entering the room, Alex’s eyes glowed with a silver white light as stars of the space element appeared around him.
A while later, he was done taking out all the beast corpses with him and came out of the room; it was time for Owen to go in and do his work.
After entering the room, Owen stared at the mountain of beast corpses with a frozen face that soon changed into a helpless smile.
"Why am I even surprised?" He chuckled with a self-mocking tone before proceeding to call some Union workers to come help him out, but even then, it was still going to take some time.
Alex continued to wait outside. The Union workers all greeted him with respectful and excited voices when they saw him.
Mr Chen was a legendary figure in Balon City and seeing him could make a person have an entire week of good luck. That was what many people believed.
After waiting for more than an hour, Owen and the workers were finally done sorting out the corpses and mana cores of the magic beasts and came out of the door.
Owen had already calculated and the total amount for everything was a bit over 600m Zen, all fees already removed.
Both of them walked back to Owen’s office where Owen presented another Union card with the money to Alex.
Alex didn’t stay longer after receiving the money and immediately left. He met Alicia, who was still waiting outside, and the two of them left together.
Alicia wanted to ask why he had taken so long but held back her tongue after remembering the type of monster that Alex was.
Under Alex’s lead, they made their way toward the outskirts of Balon City. Alex changed his outfit along the way in a quiet corner before they continued to his home.
Alicia was surprised by this since she was already aware of his double identity but she was still stunned at how harmless and different Alex looked in casual clothes and when he wasn’t hiding his face.
No one would even imagine that someone like him could be Mr Chen.
Moreover, Alicia was still confused as to how Alex was able to display the strength of an Adept mage despite being stronger than a Sage.
Just how many more secrets was he still hiding?!
On their way, they encountered Union officers on patrol and several thugs, but none of them bothered them despite the two of them looking like harmless kids.
The Union officers had no reason to do so while the thugs were simply scared off just by seeing Alex’s face.
They soon reached Alex’s home and the confusion on Alicia’s face couldn’t be hidden anymore. She stared at Alex’s back before looking at the old houses around them. The living conditions of this place were horrible!
Although she was a magic beast and didn’t need the lifestyle of humans, she knew that Alex could easily make a lot with the corpses of the magic beasts that he killed.
The number of beasts she had seen him kill today alone was enough to earn him a few million dollars, so why was he still living in a place like this?
Anyways, that didn’t really concern her much so she didn’t ask.
They entered the house but found no one in.
"Hmm, there’s no one here? Did they go out?" Alicia voiced out as she looked around the living room, she could immediately tell that there was no one else besides the two of them in the house.
Alex frowned, that wasn’t right. It was already evening, and his mother and sister would always be home at this time; his father might be late due to work, but wouldn’t stay out this late either.
Something was wrong. He immediately took out his phone and called his mother, the call connected a few seconds later.
"Hello, son. Are you home yet? Please wait some time, we’ll be home soon; I just have to clear the payment at the hospital." His mother’s voice sounded from the other side of the call.
’Eh? Hospital? Payment? What were they doing at the hospital?’ Alex was stunned and asked what was going on, who got hurt?
His mother didn’t hide it from him and informed him that his father had been blown off the roof of the building where he was working and had been brought to the hospital by his co-workers. It was a miracle that he didn’t get hurt; the weather in the morning had almost killed Zoran.
Alicia, who was able to hear what the woman on the other side of the phone was saying, had a horrified look on her face after understanding that his father was hospitalised because of the wind, which was literally her doing.
’He wouldn’t blame me, right?’
