Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors
Chapter 165: Second round
CHAPTER 165: SECOND ROUND
After reaching the venue where the tournament was being held, the group went inside; there were already many people around the stadium when they arrived.
Alex separated from his family and Alicia and went to the sitting area of his academy, his parents, sister, and Alicia went to sit somewhere else and waited for the tournament to begin.
Time slowly passed as more people arrived and occupied the spectators’ stand. The stadium was filled with murmurings as the audience discussed in loud voices. Many of them were talking about the tournament while some were talking about the strange weather yesterday and the bird’s cry.
A lot of people didn’t know that Mr Chen had already taken care of the beast; only a few people were aware of this information, and they didn’t disclose it to the public.
Some were saying that the beast might have moved away while others guessed that Mr Chen or the Union had taken action.
Regardless of what the reason was, the fact that the tournament was still progressing meant that there wasn’t any more danger.
Alicia could obviously hear what the humans around her were discussing, she just looked in Alex’s direction while remaining silent.
Alex noticed her gaze and glanced toward her, he flashed a small smile at Alicia, which made the girl’s body tremble slightly from discomfort, and she quickly looked away.
Alex chuckled in his seat before moving his gaze elsewhere. Meanwhile, the students of the Dragonic Magic Academy stared at him with confused expressions. Even the teachers were speechless as to why Alex was smiling to himself.
Of course, they couldn’t see what he was staring at amongst the sea of people.
Shortly after, Clint appeared in the arena. He gave another opening speech where he welcomed everyone back for the second round of the tournament and then disclosed how the second round was going to play out.
In the second round, each academy had three matches to complete, two for team mode and one for solo mode. Every academy needed twenty points to qualify for the third round of the tournament.
But then came the twist. Unlike the last time when solo matches and team matches offered the same amount of points, this time was going to be different.
Team matches still offered 10 points upon winning but there was a new change, and that was the number of students left on the winning team.
It was without a doubt that the remaining teams all had powerful students and the matches in this round were going to be fiercer. Therefore, every student in each team held 2 points for themselves.
If one student was knocked out by the end of the match, the winning team would only get 8 points.
If two were knocked out, they would only get 6 points upon winning. To make it clearer, every team would only get their ten points as long as all five students were still standing in the arena by the end of the match.
For every missing teammate, it would be minus 2!
Gasps could be heard through the stadium after the audience heard Clint’s explanation, they felt that this round was going to be more difficult than they anticipated.
Next were the solo mode matches, although it was a single match, the amount of points for solo matches in this round was 20 points!
This left the audience in shock again. Twenty points for solo matches, which meant that an academy would directly advance to the third round of the tournament as long as they won their solo match; it didn’t matter even if they lost the rest of the matches.
At the thought of this, the eyes of everyone from Dragonic Magic Academy zoomed in on Alex. They would advance to the next round as long as he won his match!
And since he had the space element that no one had been able to counter until now, his chances of claiming victory were very high!
Glen’s gaze was fierce; he could tell what the others were thinking, but he didn’t feel too excited about it. Instead, a strong feeling of determination formed within him, he wasn’t going to let Alex carry them to the next round this time as well.
He silently vowed to win both matches and claim the 20 points from the team mode!
After Clint finished speaking, the projection orbs appeared above the arena and projected this round’s match line-ups.
Everyone immediately focused their eyes on the projection, the academies that had made it to the tournament searched for their names and who were going to be their opponents.
Since there were going to be only three matches for each of the academies, the match dates were scattered across the week.
Team match on Monday, solo match on Wednesday, and the last team match on Friday.
Tuesday and Thursday didn’t have any matches and people didn’t need to come to the stadium.
Students and teachers of Dragonic Magic Academy quickly spotted the name of their academy and the academies that they would be fighting against, their faces paled in fright upon seeing who their opponents were.
For the team matches, they would be going up against Holy Cloud Magic Academy first, and Golden Elements Magic Academy next.
As for solo match, their opponent academy was the Blue Void Magic Academy!
"W-what is the meaning of this? Are they deliberately trying to eliminate us?!" A teacher was unable to hold herself back and blurted out with frustration in her voice.
The students were so spooked that they could only stare at the projection with wide eyes. The faces of Glen, Amelia, Ryan, and Jason looked pale, and their eyes were lifeless.
Their opponents were from the top academies that didn’t lose a single match during the first round!
Golden Elements Magic Academy was ranked second in the previous tournament and their team had displayed horrifying talents against all of their opponents
Holy Cloud was ranked 4th and their team was just as scary as the one from Golden Elements!
They couldn’t think of any possibility of them gaining victory over those two!
As for the solo match, Alex’s opponent was going to be Laura since she was the one who was representing the Blue Void Magic Academy in the solo mode.
Considering how fierce Laura had been during her previous matches, the students from Dragonic Magic Academy thought that their academy was most likely going to get zero points in this round.
Meanwhile, a small grin formed on Alex’s face when he saw that he would be facing Laura.
He was finally going to get the chance to teach that girl a lesson.
Alex turned and shot a glance at teacher Arnold, the man, coincidentally, was also staring at him.
Both of them made different faces at each other before looking away. Teacher Arnold gave Alex a quiet snort while Alex smiled meaningfully.
It was as if he was saying ’watch how I’ll beat your favourite student.’
After some time, the projection ended, and another list appeared; it was the listing order for today’s matches.
Dragonic Magic Academy Vs Holy Cloud Magic Academy was the fifth fight for today. There were a total of eleven fights since there were only twenty-two academies left in the tournament.
The matches officially started after three more minutes had passed and the first two teams came up to the arena for their match.
For the second round of the tournament, the referees in the arena were no longer Core rank mages; they had been replaced by two Expert mages instead.
Time passed and more teams came up to the arena to fight. The matches in the second round took longer than in the previous round since most teams were evenly matched and everyone was trying their best not to lose any teammate which would affect their points.
As Alicia watched the matches, she couldn’t relate to the excitement of the humans around her who were cheering and talking nonstop about the students in the arena.
She felt bored instead; they all looked so weak to her; she could treat their spells as a light massage while she slept.
She turned to Emily, who was watching the match beside her, and asked when Alex was going to fight.
Emily, who was completely engrossed in what she was watching didn’t take her eyes away from the arena as she replied to Alicia and said that Alex wasn’t going to have any match today and that his match was on Wednesday.
"Really? Then why are we here?" Alicia asked, but she couldn’t understand why they had come if Alex wasn’t participating yet.
This time, Emily moved her gaze and looked at Alicia.
"That’s because the team from his academy is participating and we have to be here." She said this while pointing at the arena.
Alicia looked and saw the names of two academies projected in the air above the arena.
[Dragonic Magic Academy Vs Holy Cloud Magic Academy!]
