CHAPTER 172: EXPERIMENT

Under the night sky, the huge dog arrived in the center of a large clearing with Alex standing on its back. Surrounding the clearing were short mountains and tall trees. From where he stood, Alex could see obvious signs that a fight had occurred here.

Craters, scorched rocks, and huge cracks covered some of the mountains as if something had smashed into them.

Blood stains, torn limbs, and pieces of clothes were scattered across the place.

This must be where this dog had sustained its injuries.

"Is your master here?" Alex asked from above.

The dog shook its head and resumed sprinting, it ran for another forty minutes before finally coming to a stop.

They were now inside a forest with tall scattered trees that allowed one to see very far if they looked straight ahead.

Not far from them was the entrance of a large cave that was totally covered in vines and bushes.

The dog stood in front of the cave and started growling, it turned hostile upon seeing the cave entrance.

’I guess this is the place then.’ Alex thought to himself before jumping down, and he landed beside the dog with a light sound.

"Let’s call them out then," Alex whispered to himself as his eyes turned purple and he summoned ten stars of the lightning element.

The dog was frightened by Alex’s action and quickly jumped away in fear. Meanwhile, Alex had already formed two star patterns and cast a spell.

"Lightning strike,"

A thin thread of purple lightning shot down from the two star patterns and struck the top of the cave.

Boom!

An explosive sound rang out as the entire cave shook, the vines and bushes at the top were blasted into countless pieces, a part of the cave also broke off and the rocks were sent flying into the air.

Alex nodded, just the right amount of disturbance that he wanted to cause. He didn’t use a stronger spell for fear of collapsing the cave with this dog’s master still inside.

"Who the hell is that?!" An enraged voice bellowed from inside the cave as a powerful aura rushed out.

The next moment, figures appeared from within the cave one after the other. In less than a minute, more than seven people had appeared. Four were in yellow robes, two wore black robes, and one wore a glaring red robe with a similar style to the others.

Alex glanced at them, the yellow robes were at the Expert Mage rank, the black robes were at the Master rank, while the red robed person was an Archmage.

’Quite a force in such a small place.’ Alex thought to himself, he recognised all of them as members of the Dark Union because of their robes which were similar to the ones he saw in Balon City.

"Who’s the fucker who attacked, are you out of your mind?!" The figure in a red robe shouted angrily as a sharp gaze swept around from underneath his hood.

Several pairs of eyes landed on Alex and the dog who were standing not too far away.

"Hey, isn’t that the woman’s dog? To this it’ll come back, I just know that she was being stubborn. Everyone, kill it this time and retrieve my egg for me, we’ll kill the woman after we’re done here or turn her into a dark beast." The red-robed figure ordered, his voice filled with malicious intent.

Bark!

The dog barked when it heard this, and it slowly moved behind Alex.

The sight was comical, it looked like a grown man hiding behind a little cat.

"Eh? Who’s this? Are you here to save that woman?" The red Archmage asked as he stared at Alex. He frowned when he couldn’t see through Alex’s rank, something was interfering with his senses.

’But why does the white mask seem familiar? Like I’ve heard of it before.’ the Archmage thought silently to himself.

Alex glanced at the seven of them before asking if this was everyone who was in the cave.

"What does that matter to you?" The Archmage in a red robe snorted before ordering the other six to attack Alex and the dog.

Boom!

A series of explosive sounds rang out as all six of them exploded with auras of Expert and Master rank mages before summoning their stars.

Six different spells were fired at Alex and the dog at the same time, their brilliance lighting up the dark forest.

Alex’s eyes flashed behind his mask and a grin formed on his face. A perfect chance to test out his spell again.

His eyes blazed with a silver white glow as stars of the space element appeared rapidly above him and began to connect at a breakneck speed.

A star Nebula consisting of twenty star constellations quickly formed above Alex’s head.

"Space vortex," he mumbled.

The next moment, space rippled around him as six vortexes that looked like a gateway to the void appeared. The six space vortexes released a powerful suction force immediately they appeared and sucked in the six spells that were shot at Alex.

The members of the Dark Union stood frozen in shock as they stared at the horror scene in front of them.

Even the red-robed Archmage had been petrified from shock.

That cluster of stars, a star Nebula!

"He’s a sage, run!" Someone shouted in a frightened tone.

Upon hearing his voice, the other five people who had joined to attack Alex turned around and fled into the forest at their fastest speed, leaving the red-robed Archmage by himself.

But how would Alex allow them to just leave? The space vortexes spun around and revealed their other sides before spitting out the spells that they had swallowed, which were now faster and more powerful.

The spells flew after the feeling figures with greater speed and caught up in less than three seconds.

Horrified screams resounded through the forest for a moment, but stopped soon after. All six of them were dead!

Now, it was just the red-robed Archmage who was left standing in front of Alex.

The men stared at Alex like he was looking at a demon, his legs refusing to move.

"Y-you, who are you? What do you want from us?! Don’t you dare come close to me, I’m a high-ranking member of the Darka Union, they’ll come after you if you kill me!" The man yelled, trying to mask his fear and horror behind his loud voice.

Alex stared at him expressionlessly for a few seconds before saying.

"I’ll be more than happy if they come looking for me." After saying that, he moved forward.

Swoosh!

His speed was blinding as he disappeared and appeared beside the Archmage the next moment. He grabbed the man by the neck.

The Archmage’s eyes widened in fright. Alex was like a shadow under the cover of the night, and the Archmage wasn’t even able to see Alex’s afterimages before he was grabbed.

"You...what are you going to do? Let go of me!" He grabbed Alex’s wrist and tried to struggle free but Alex’s arm didn’t even move an inch.

"Calm down, you’re just helping me with an experiment. You’ll be fine," Alex said and suddenly launched the Archmage toward one of the space vortexes.

"Ahhhh!" The man screamed like a pig being slaughtered as his body flew through the air and was immediately sucked in by the vortex.

"Or maybe not," Alex added after the man disappeared into the vortex.
