CHAPTER 177: CHAPTER 176: GETTING SETTLED PART 5
While Alysse was in a flurry though, she had a moment of inspiration. "Carl, Klaire, Kyubi, can I please date your daughter... No, entirely insincere for me.
Guys, I know I might be crossing a line, but could I see how it goes with Omy? Grr...
Hey could Omy and I start a coupling...
Wait! Arti! Coupling! What if we make it out of individual segments of nanites that have couplings for interlocking? That way we can modify shape and purpose of independant panels, an unwritten code only those who need to know will."
’It would definitely overcome the capacity issue we’ve been facing. I’ll run that through the first full simulation Link helps us put together. Now send the message Mum."
Alysse groaned and slapped her cheeks, deciding to just send a message and hope he takes the sender into account.
[ GROUP MESSAGE SENT FROM ALYSSE : HEY GUYS, SORRY FOR BOTHERING YOU WITH THIS, I REALLY WISH THAT I COULD DO IT FACE TO FACE, BUT I COULDN’T WAIT AND I HAVE BEEN RACKING MY BRAIN AND WHATEVER. DO YOU GUYS MIND IF I MAKE DINNER FOR OMY AND THE KIDS? MAINLY OMY, I WANT TO BAG THAT, BUT KI-KO DEMANDED I PROVE I CAN TAKE CARE OF HER. ]
[ GROUP MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM KLAIRE : AS LONG AS YOU NEVER USE THE PHRASE "I WANT TO BAG THAT" AGAIN I HAVE NO ISSUES AS LONG AS IT’S SERIOUS. I’LL SHOOT YOU IF YOU BREAK MY LITTLE GIRL’S HEART. ]
[ GROUP MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM KYUBI : SAME HERE, BUT PLEASE TAKE IT SLOW. REMEMBER THAT SHE MAY BE PHYSICALLY MATURE, BUT SHE IS STILL QUITE NAIVE, YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE HER FIRST LOVE AND THAT IS IMPORTANT. ]
Alysse was thrilled to say the least, but decided to hold her breath until Carl also responded. She was eager and wanted to know if she was cooking over at Carl’s house, but she also didn’t want to pester after she had just been asked to be patient.
She got home and still no reply...
---Back on Mirage---
Omedra and the kids appeared in front of Lillim, asking her if she could summon some of her daughters to help train the kids.
"Absolutely not, Child! Neither you nor they are ready for that, if you wish to fight them, then get used to fighting less dangerous humanoids or ones with more restraint."
"Okay..." After starting and from what Lillim thought to be her finishing, she stood hovering over her until Lillim snapped and asked her to explain herself. "...Great-Grandma, I might be having dinner with Alysse tonight..."
Suddenly the sour mood that Omedra and the kids had sensed but couldn’t explain, lifter as Lillim joined the dots and realised that a successful pairing would pull her favourite into the family.
"Why tell me? You should ask your parents, if you have and they denied you, don’t expect me to overrule him. The best I can do is try to sway them when they’re back."
"Alysse is asking them, I actually wanted to know if you could come over tonight as well, I know Dad and Mums will ask questions and I want them to have an unbribable witness."
Lillim let out a loud sharp "HA!" then looked at her with narrowed eyes. "I am the mother of demons and far from unbribable, you’re looking for the next generation girl."
"I wanted to, but I thought that might make her nervous..."
"Oh, you are just adorable. How about your mentor? They know she would enjoy the chaos of revealing any scandal too much to keep it quiet." Lillim then watched as Omedra grumbled about needing to ask Tiamat for a favour, let alone inviting her to come and chaperone her first date.
"Ugh, fine. Thank you, advice now please."
"Where layers, if you want to find an emotional bond, your figure will interfere because of her gnomish instincts."
"About that, she’s a woman, what reproductive merit can a woman have for her?"
"Reproduction dear, is just a blending of DNA and for us immortals, divinity. One as smart as her doesn’t need sex to blend DNA, she would simply refine the process."
Omedra thought about it, then they all gave Lillim a hug, then after Lillim recovered the slate she had started to carry for the purposes of her bar, they left to go find Tiamat.
"Lillim told me already, I owe your Dad a million favours so I shall, but you all need to help here or no one is having a free evening."
Tiamat didn’t even look at them as she and the others she was working with continued to look over profiles with Sis, who simply smiled and winked at her.
"What can we do?"
"We have a full cases of bullying, one case of accused theft and one attempted suicide." The last point was spoken with a heavy tone of voice.
"Never fear!" Kitsunoko suddenly shouted, loudly enough to draw everyone’s attention. "We can deal with all of it, then big sis can have her date!" Leanna suddenly appeared behind her and pinched her ear.
"Ki-ko, the bullying, accusation and most of the niggly issues are one thing. You shouldn’t make such theatrical claims about the last one though, it makes it seem like you aren’t taking it seriously."
"Sorry Grandma, that’s not what I meant, but it is."
Everyone looked at her skeptically, the one saving grace with her fox-nature, was that it came with the gigantic warning sign of an unmistakable tone of voice that seemed to sneak its way into your mind and make her ideas seem like good ones.
At that moment however, they weren’t sensing that at all. "Okay, explain your idea and we might
be willing to let you help."
"Simple. We put bullies in a bully jail, just like at school. Razy can sense lies, so we just need to ask if it was stolen and if a particular person stole it and finally, we make him see how silly he is."
"That... Actually it sounds reasonable..." Leanna looked at everyone gathered who were all still a little suspicious.
"The last one is still easier said than done, little fox." Tiamat poked, soon finding herself face to face with the feisty little fox when she appeared on the table so she couldn’t be looked down on.
"I bet you all your treasure it’s done in the next two hours."
Everyone was truly shocked by Kitsunoko’s adamant positioning, she was many things, but focused enough to hold her ground was not among them.
"Okay, but I’ll hide it, every single coin must be found and not given." People weren’t surprised by a dragon proving too proud to let the challenge slide, but they were when Tiamat produced a contract.
Kitsunoko held it up and scanned it intensely, then lowered it.
"I don’t speak draconic..." Rather than translate it however, Tiamat simply asked if she intended to remain ignorant of her brother’s heritage. "...Huh, well now I feel bad."
With that, she suddenly reverted to the Kitsunoko they all knew and loved and got immediately distracted by the guilt and went to give her brother a hug. Who then scanned the contract for her and all three of them spent ten of the minutes having an impromptu lesson in fundamental draconic.
"...We’ll do more later, but it’s good Ki-ko." Tiamutael earned a hug for his help then she returned to the table and pulled a crayon out from her obi and signed it.
"Right, meanie Auntie Tia, we have grown-up jobs to do."
"Ki-ko, if you don’t watch the manners, attitude and behaviour I’m gonna spank you so hard your dad feels it in whatever realm he’s neglecting you in."
"Yes Grandma. Sorry Grandma." With that she ran over to the others, called a "sibling huddle" and then they all disappeared.
They had agreed to try her plans so they couldn’t be angry, but they were all more than a little bit worried.
Not only was Raziel’s power making it difficult for the immortals to see with divinity enhanced sight, but Tiamutael was an imperceptible force the universe that simply was wherever he wanted to be and with whoever he wanted and lastly their ring-leader big sister could burn down the towers and still win the bet on a technicality.
It was definitely the last point that had them most concerned, so much so that several people openly voiced the question, "How long do we have until she decides it’s better to get into trouble than lose?"
At first, Sis, Leanna, Alisha and Tiamat were all aware that she most likely would achieve enough to earn a reward even if she lost the bet, but by the twenty minute with no news mark they were sweating.
When it hit the half an hour mark and they returned suddenly with a very happy fox, the only one who didn’t look out of the window in a search for flames was Omedra.
