Beyond the Apocalypse
Chapter 739: Wrath and Gluttony as One
CHAPTER 739: WRATH AND GLUTTONY AS ONE
The power of the flames only made the fact that the Depravita managed to rise from them even more astounding, but what followed left even the stoic High Legends momentarily breathless.
The fire summoned by the Superior Legend Angel was no mere spell—it was holy fire born from the divine structure of very powerful Laws, capable of eradicating entire cities and vaporizing foes on contact. Every inch of Vlad’s body had been charred, muscle blackened and skin scorched to ash. Yet within seconds, the impossible unfolded.
His body began to regenerate.
Bones crackled and straightened. Nerves reconnected. Flesh grew anew, steaming from the heat but whole. Skin reformed like liquid bronze poured from a divine mold. It took less than five seconds for him to stand fully restored—as if he had never been burned at all.
But the High Legends were sharp. Their eyes narrowed slightly, watching the edges of Vlad’s aura dim ever so faintly. His energy pool had decreased. Such instantaneous regeneration was a double-edged sword—impressive, but costly.
Still, the Superior Legend was visibly stunned. The celestial flames from his wings had laid waste to countless enemies, including others of his own rank. Yet this young man still stood.
His confusion twisted into something darker—rage.
"I wonder how long you can keep enduring," the angel said, voice now laced with venom, like poison wrapped in silk. There was no benevolence in his tone, only cruel fascination. It was a voice more suited to a demon than a guardian of Heaven.
Vlad’s expression grew steely. His thoughts raced. He had measured the distance, gauged the speed. He had already pushed the limits of what a Legendary being could endure. And now he had no illusions.
He was powerful—exceptionally powerful, even by the standards of talented Legends. But a Superior Legend wasn’t just a step above. It was a different battlefield altogether.
"Jormungandr."
The name rang like thunder.
And thunder answered.
The skies roared, lightning fracturing the heavens above. From the sidelines, the small yellow cat—so unassuming a moment before—let out a low growl. Then, in a flash of blue radiance, it transformed.
Its body grew and grew, stretching until the horizon was filled with the coiling form of a massive serpent, over five thousand meters long. Its sapphire scales reflected flashes of lightning. Its very presence distorted the air, the skies, and even the flow of energy itself.
The High Legends took a step back in the air instinctively.
This was no mere beast.
This was a primordial force.
"Hmph." The Superior Legend narrowed his eyes, unimpressed. "A one-on-one becomes a team-up? I expected better. But of course, ants always crawl together when crushed."
There was no hesitation in his words. Though the World Serpent was mighty, the Superior Legend believed himself untouchable.
Then Vlad smiled.
"Don’t worry," he said, eyes burning like twin stars. "It will still be one-on-one."
His soul flared.
A slit appeared in the middle of his forehead, splitting open to reveal a dimensional eye socket—a gateway to an unknown realm, dark and vast. From it pulsed a gravitational pull unlike any ordinary void.
"Depravita Samsara Typhoon."
The moment the Gift was activated, Jormungandr roared, then dissolved into a beam of radiant blue energy, streaking through the air and entering the dimensional eye in the blink of an eye.
The eye closed, then reopened—now no longer dark. It glowed with a stormy electric-blue iris, pulsing with a devouring intent that made the world seem to bend around it and the power of life that made the storm seem alive.
"BOOOOOOOOOOOM!"
Vlad’s aura exploded.
Red and blue energy spiraled around him, clashing, converging—fusing into something new. Wrath met Gluttony. And something unique, like nothing the universe had seen before, was born.
His body transformed.
Muscles swelled with radiant power. Skin gleamed beneath luminous blue lightning veins, pulsing like a living circuit of storms. His hair turned a storm-charged white, flowing wildly around his shoulders. Golden antlers jutted from his forehead, crackling with celestial electricity. From his back burst wings of storm, woven from lightning, cloud, and raw life force—not for flight, but for domination.
A long serpentine tail, armored in divine sapphire, lashed behind him.
His limbs became armored in jagged golden plating, shaped like the devouring fangs of the World Snake. Every motion exuded the weight of divinity and destruction.
He had become the embodiment of Primordial Wrath fused with Devouring Hunger.
A wave of devouring force surged from his form, an invisible tsunami of hunger that absorbed the ambient energy around him, fueling his wrathful energy, making it burn even stronger, enhancing his physical capabilities.
"HAHAHAHAHA!"
Vlad laughed, not in madness, but in awe. The Samsara Typhoon had worked flawlessly. By fusing his soul with that of another True Depravita—Jormungandr—he had entered a new state, one beyond the sum of its parts.
Power surged through him in unrelenting torrents.
Even still, his focus never wavered.
He lifted one hand into the sky.
Lightning crackled around him. Space fractured. The void above responded to his call as arcs of dimensional energy converged into his hand. From them, he shaped a weapon—a divine spear of jagged lightning, unstable and roaring with suppressed fury.
The High Legends felt their breath catch.
The sky cracked as the spear came to life, its mere existence breaking the structure of space. The aura it emitted made even the Superior Legend flinch. It wasn’t just a spear.
It was judgment incarnate.
With a final grin, Vlad threw it.
"THHRRRRZZZHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
The spear tore through the air like a comet, wrapped in lightning and raw law power. The heavens screamed as it shattered clouds and displaced time itself.
The Superior Legend Angel barely had a second to respond.
Eyes wide, he threw his burning wings around his body and ignited a divine cocoon of flame, bracing for impact.
"KRAAAAAA-BOOOOOOM!"
The spear struck with the force of a descending star.
Flames, light, and raw chaos exploded outward in a dome of cataclysm. The High Legends covered themselves instinctively as the shockwave expanded for miles.
