CHAPTER 128: CHAPTER 128 - STRANGE REGENERATED ARM

A few hours later, Logan found himself on an air shuttle back to the Mercer Headquarters in Denver.

Letting out a groan as he sat down, he completely relaxed.

’’I’m so grateful I bought extra legroom this time,’’ he mumbled, eyes closed.

’My time in Iceland was worth it,’ he thought. ’I’ve improved in so many ways, I can barely keep track.’

His mastery of the Flaming Body technique had soared, to the point where he felt like he was only a little away from fully mastering the second stage.

He’d managed to test out and use several undead techniques during combat, and his skill with his glaive had reached heights far above what he used to be capable of.

’But all of that pales compared to the massive growth in experience,’ he thought, smiling faintly. ’The way I minimized wasted movements and mana... that’s the real proof of growth.’

Hours flew by before a soft chime echoed through the cabin.

[We will begin our descent into Denver shortly. Please fasten your restraints.]

Logan opened his eyes, stretching slightly before sitting up straight.

Outside, the snowy landscapes had disappeared. All that remained were countless skyscrapers and concrete roads.

’Back to reality,’

he thought with a faint shake of his head and a smile.

Tapping on his watch, Logan quickly sent a message to Edric, informing him that he’d be there soon.

’Guess I’ll have to explain the missing arm again,’ he sighed. ’Same damn arm as last time too.’

As the shuttle landed, Logan’s eyes fell on his system interface.

’The cooldown has been over for three days already,’ he thought, narrowing his eyes. ’But I’m not sure how much I want to invest into it right now.’

His fast-food chain was set to launch in a day and a half, and on top of that, his inherited company was still neck-deep in conflict.

’I think it’s best if I wait to see how the opening of the fast-food chain goes,’ he thought, closing the system interface. ’Redeeming money right now would be the same as digging my grave.’

If anything were to go wrong or the Alvarez family suddenly pressured his company, he wouldn’t have any funds left to defend them.

Half an hour later, Logan stepped out of a taxi at the Mercer Headquarters.

’’I’m back,’’ he mumbled, walking towards a back entrance.

Back at his building, back in the pressure-filled world of corporate nonsense.

Outside the front entrance sat several of the same news crews that had been there when he left, still waiting on a public statement regarding his murder.

’They’ll be nice to have when we release the evidence folder,’ he thought, pushing open the doors.

Inside, he was immediately greeted by a familiar figure.

’’Silas,’’ Logan said, smiling.

Silas raised an eyebrow, scanning Logan carefully.

’’I heard from Edric how real this disguise looks,’’ he said, a strange expression on his face. ’’But it is much more unnerving to see it in person.’’

His eyes narrowed as his gaze fell on Logan’s missing arm. ’’I see you got into trouble again.’’

Logan grinned and nodded. ’’Nothing much, just need to regenerate it later.’’

Silas let out a chuckle and shook his head. ’’You’ve got no idea how weird that sounds coming from someone your age.’’

Logan shrugged before he started walking to the elevator.

’’Edric is waiting for you in the meeting room,’’ Silas said, walking beside him. ’’He needs you there to release the public statement.’’

Raising an eyebrow, Logan gave a faint nod. ’Didn’t even give me a minute to breathe, huh?’

It made sense. The earlier the statement was out, the faster his reputation could recover and they could start the defamation suit.

’’I’ll head over to him after changing.’’

Once the elevator reached the top floor, Logan turned off his disguise and went into his room.

He pulled off the disguise suit and changed into a new protective one, packed with fully charged mana crystals.

’Now my arm...’ Logan thought, glancing at the stump.

Last time as a Bronze Core, it had taken him an entire day to fully regenerate it since the mana cost was so high.

’Let’s see how fast it’ll go this time.’

As he was about to start, he suddenly stopped.

’’I should be able to do it faster this time,’’ he muttered.

He had the undead element now—creating bones wasn’t an issue for him anymore.

With that in mind, Logan first used his undead element to shape the missing bones.

As he finished shaping the bones, he switched to his phoenix fire element.

He clenched his teeth as he ripped open the stump on his shoulder, then he held up the bones he’d just shaped as the flesh began to regenerate around it.

’’Ugh,’’ he hissed through clenched teeth. ’’Just as... painful as last time.’’

Eventually, the flesh around his entire arm mended together, completing his arm.

Feeling that he didn’t have enough mana to immediately regenerate his hand, he stopped pouring in mana.

Logan let out a sigh of relief, but just as he was about to relax, his eyes shot open.

A sharp pain shot through his arm as mana flooded through it.

This was not just some mana—no, it was a violent mixture of undead and phoenix fire mana.

For a second, Logan gripped his arm tightly as he feared his newly created arm was about to disintegrate again.

He felt a cold heat course through his arm. His veins shifted from black to yellow every second, until they finally settled into a murky yellow glow.

Suddenly, the pain stopped.

The two forces within his arm no longer canceled each other out. Instead, they merged—like they’d done on the tip of his glaive.

Then—silence.

Both mana types in his arm slowly retreated back into his core as if nothing had happened.

’’What the hell...’’ Logan muttered, lifting his arm in disbelief.

His hand still wasn’t there, but his arm pulsed faintly, as if it was alive.

’This... wasn’t supposed to happen.’
