CHAPTER 150: CHAPTER 150 - CATASTROPHE-CLASS

Logan leaned back slightly, expression unreadable.

’I’ve never heard of the day of seven virtues before,’ he thought, mind racing. ’But it doesn’t seem like a bad thing.’

The silence in the meeting room was heavy as everyone stared at Logan.

’’It would be an honor,’’ Logan said smoothly.

The Holy Envoy’s smile widened, a small glint of satisfaction in his eyes.

’’Excellent choice. The Divine One will be pleased,’’ he said. ’’Your presence will not go unnoticed, Mr. Mercer. When you stand before the people, before the Seven, you will be seen not merely as a businessman... but as an ally of the faith.’’

Logan gave a nod, his expression neutral as he kept observing the Envoy. ’’Then I’ll prepare accordingly.’’

The Holy Envoy nodded before clapping his hands twice. One of his clerics stepped forward and placed a black suitcase on the table.

The Holy Envoy raised his hand again, the cleric immediately stepping back.

’’This here,’’ he started, opening the briefcase, ’’are the official invitation and ceremonial attire.’’

Logan’s eyes fell on the white and golden robe, coupled with a crimson red sash and several smaller jewels.

’’Understood,’’ he said, glancing back at the Envoy again.

The Holy Envoy nodded, silence falling in the meeting room.

Then, he clasped his hands together. ’’Let us move on to our other matters now.’’

The rest of the meeting passed without incident, mostly covering the current situation and progress on securing prime locations.

Before long, Logan found himself on the rooftop again, watching the Holy Envoy and his entourage board their shuttle.

He had his hands in his pockets, waiting patiently until the air shuttle ascended and disappeared into groups of dark clouds.

Behind him, Edric stood in silence, the black briefcase with the attire and invitation held firmly in one hand.

Logan turned around, eyes falling on the suitcase.

’Seven days...’ he thought. ’Plenty of time to prepare.’

Edric stood in silence for a moment before speaking.

’’This is an amazing opportunity,’’ he said. ’’Even your father has only been there three times.’’

Logan nodded, smiling slightly. ’’You’ll need to give me some more details on what to expect later.’’

Edric gave a small nod, smiling. ’’I’ll compile everything we have and send it to you tonight.’’

’’Thank you,’’ Logan nodded, already walking towards the elevator.

Once back in his room, Logan set the briefcase on his desk, glancing at the robes and ornaments inside before pushing it aside.

He changed into comfortable clothes before crashing on his couch.

Logan closed his eyes for a few minutes, processing the new information and mapping out his next steps.

’It isn’t that long before the freshman competition is here either,’ he thought. ’And I have no idea what to expect from the other SSS-ranks.’

Logan knew he wasn’t weak by any means, but being extra prepared wasn’t something he was against.

’I think I’m good on combat experience for a while,’ he thought, remembering the countless waves of creatures he’d fought in Iceland. ’So now, I need to focus on new skills.’

Logan sat up, massaging his temples.

’The Dark Knights Summoning technique...’ he thought. ’If I can get the right materials and carve that space in my body, I’ll have an amazing advantage in the competition.’

Contemplating for a moment, Logan activated his hologram projector.

’There’s only one place in which I have a chance at finding the right materials...’ he thought, searching for the Meridians Guild online auction house.

At the same time, the manual appeared in his lap.

Logan flipped through the pages, searching for the exact materials required for the summoning.

’’Here,’’ he mumbled, coming to a stop a dozen pages in.

The page was covered in intricate sketches and handwritten notes, listing materials in great detail.

"Requirements: a body, a soul fragment, and a power source. Additional materials can boost strength or mana, but adding too much risks detonating the power source."

Logan nodded slowly, flipping through a few more pages of the manual.

The next several pages entailed kinds of creatures, from regular skeleton knights all the way to special spirits and irregular creatures.

’’The Skeleton knight is the basis and most loyal on higher levels,’’ he read. ’’It will always put its life before yours.’’

Logan studied the sketches for a while longer, eyes locking on the armored knights with large blue flames in their eyes.

Closing the manual and slipping it into his ring, he muttered, "No need to overcomplicate the first one. I’ll start with the basics and see how it grows."

He fell silent for a moment. ’’After that... I can see what kind of special variants I want for higher ranks.’’

With that thought in mind, his eyes wandered to the open hologram.

’I shouldn’t be too hasty for the materials,’ he thought. ’Making sure I get the absolute best is the most important.’

He slowly started scrolling through the online auctions catalog, eyes stopping on several items before he continued again.

Finally, he stopped aimlessly scrolling and applied a price filter.

’Let’s go from the highest price to lowest,’ he thought, shaking his head.

Several bones from S-rank creatures flashed before his eyes, each selling for millions.

At the very top of the list, something caught his attention.

[Current bid: 250 million dollars.]

[S-rank: Titanhorn Behemoth bones.]

The short entry explained it was a strength-based beast that used its undead affinity to reinforce its bones.

’These bones are almost comparable to Catastrophe-class creatures,’ Logan thought, eyes widening slightly. ’That’s definitely something I need.’

Anything from a Catastrophe-class creature was almost never seen on the market, both because of its rarity and the fact that killing one was very difficult.

He tapped the listing, bookmarking it for later.

’’I need to check the other two required items before I make any reckless purchases,’’ he mumbled, switching the catalog to search for soul fragments.

As he saw the top listing for the soul fragments, his eyes widened as his body froze.

[Current bid: 2 billion dollars.]

[Catastrophe-class soul fragment: Queen of Thorns.]
