CHAPTER 92: CHAPTER 92 - STUDYING UNDER AN SSS-RANK?
Logan filled in a code, causing his floor safe to rise out of the ground in his bedroom.
Opening his hidden floor safe, he found the vial with green murky liquid still sitting inside.
"Now this," he started with a wide grin, "this is interesting."
Quickly storing it inside his space ring, Logan’s face beamed.
"I can do something very fun with this," he mumbled, still grinning.
He had no clue what kind of bait it exactly was, but he figured it must work similar to what Derek threw at them.
’I have to be careful with this though,’ he thought. ’If I use it wrong, it could cause some serious problems.’
’And I absolutely cannot let anyone see me use this.’
Shaking off his thoughts, he also stored the Flaming Body manual inside his space ring for extra safety before letting the safe disappear into the floor again.
Logan walked to his bed and sat down, focusing on repairing his core until he had to go back to the university again.
Like that, three days passed.
Logan sat inside the Mercer family’s centerpiece vehicle, heading back to the university.
"I’ve sent the university an official statement of what happened inside the dungeon," Edric said, a hologram in front of him. "But there’s nothing they can do for now, without any proof."
Logan nodded in silence, keeping his composure despite the anger burning underneath. He’d expected something like this.
’Luckily there’s a way I can deal with him myself,’ he thought, a cold smirk appearing on his face.
"Silas has also contacted an old friend of his," Edric said, serious. "They’ll be looking into the bait situation together."
"Sounds good," Logan nodded, looking at the university grounds beneath them.
He stood and glanced at Edric.
"Let me know if something happens," he said, smiling. "As for Derek himself, both of you don’t need to worry too much about that."
Edric raised an eyebrow but nodded.
"Stay safe," he said, waving as Logan stepped off the shuttle.
"I’ll try my best," Logan responded, smiling as he pulled out his student ID to check himself in again.
Walking through the corridors, he couldn’t help but wonder when he’d see or hear anything from Livia again.
’Her father seemed pretty strict,’ he thought, shaking his head slightly. ’At least she has one.’
Before he could reach his room, Logan’s eyes raised slightly as he saw a familiar face waiting for him.
"Good morning, Erik," Logan said, greeting the person who’d been assigned to him by the SSS-rank.
"Good morning, Logan," Erik greeted, his voice neutral as always.
"Follow me," he continued, already turning around.
Logan looked surprised but followed him right away. "What do you need from me?" he asked as they walked.
"Master wants to speak with you," Erik replied flatly.
Logan’s eyebrows raised, even more surprised.
’The fire SSS-rank wants to speak with me?’ he thought, surprised and confused.
Ascending multiple flights of stairs as he followed after Erik, many thoughts ran through Logan’s head.
’He must want to see me because of the incident,’ he thought, calculating. ’It involved some pretty big names after all.’
He understood how bad it could get if three major families and organizations started pointing fingers over what happened in the dungeon.
Logan was so occupied with calculations that he barely noticed the weird glances he got after passing by groups of students.
Eventually, Logan noticed and frowned, but he pushed the thought aside. He had more important things to deal with right now.
After they finally reached the designated floor, Erik came to a halt outside the door once again.
"He’s waiting inside," he said emotionlessly.
Giving a small nod, Logan walked forward to the two large doors.
As the doors slid open, a heavy pressure rolled out of the room.
Logan tensed but held firm, pushing back against it.
He could tell that it wasn’t the man’s full power, but he was still proud of his improvement compared to last time.
"Come in," he heard from inside.
Clenching his jaw, he gave a small nod and stepped inside with effort.
The doors behind him slid shut with a loud bang.
Looking ahead, he saw that the SSS-rank hunter hadn’t even turned his chair to face him.
Despite that, the pressure on him slowly intensified.
Then, the SSS-rank turned to look at him.
Immediately, all pressure around him vanished, allowing him to breathe properly again.
"Logan," the man said, inspecting him closely. "We have a lot to talk about."
Logan nodded, but his mind raced. ’Words like that never mean anything good coming from someone like him.’
"Let’s start simple," the man said, smiling. "I seem to have forgotten to introduce myself last time."
Logan maintained a neutral face despite being surprised internally.
"My name’s Allen Foster," the man said, giving a small grin as he finally turned his chair to face Logan. "And I see you used the warning I gave you last time pretty well."
’I did?’ Logan thought, confused.
The words echoed in his mind, but he still couldn’t figure out what Allen was talking about.
"I’m sorry," Logan said, bowing slightly. "But I have no idea what you are talking about."
Allen chuckled. "Honest and straightforward," he said, leaning against his desk. "I like that."
He stopped chuckling as he looked at Logan.
"Last time, we talked about picking the right allies," Allen said, pointing at the stump where Logan’s arm used to be. "And it seems like you’ve made a great choice recently."
A moment of clarity flashed through Logan, finally understanding what he was talking about.
"Yes," Allen continued, smiling as he walked closer to Logan. "Although I don’t know the full details of what happened inside the dungeon."
He gave Logan a firm pat on the back and continued.
"Someone important called in a favor I’ve owed for a long time," he said, his tone casual but his eyes sharp. "And that favor... was you."
Logan’s heart skipped a beat.
"What?" he said, eyes locking onto Allen.
Allen simply smiled.
"I don’t usually take students just because someone cashed in a favor—but you’ve earned the offer. If you want it, I’ll take you in as my student."
