CHAPTER 48: BEYOND HUMAN 10

Terrence woke up exhausted and naked on the bed. After the first round, he and Emily had gone at it more than a dozen times until morning.

Relentless didn’t even begin to cover how far she pushed him. If he hadn’t tapped out, she might’ve drained him dry.

Just as he tried to muster the energy to move, she was awake, her lips fervently claiming his again.

"Terrence, you’re incredible. You’re the first man I’ve ever been with who could last that long "

He didn’t know whether to feel proud or miserable after hearing that. His mana-enhanced body had basically been used like a living dildo.

Still, he had to play his role if he wanted to secure more investors.

Their lips met again as he leaned into the kiss.

Before long, they were at it again—on the couch, in the bathroom, anywhere they landed.

By the time they finally stopped, it was already noon. At this point, the thought of peeing blood began to worry him.

Fortunately, she decided to stop for the day and left the hotel on her own, leaving him on the bed, gasping for air.

’Women are scary...’

Ring ring ring.

The sound of his phone jolted him from his thoughts. It was a call from his aunt, Effie.

She sounded worried. "Where were you last night? You didn’t come home."

"I had some business to take care of," he said, rubbing his forehead as he sat up. "It dragged on longer than I expected."

There was a pause on the other end. "You could’ve at least sent a message. I stayed up all night thinking something happened."

"Sorry, Aunt Effie. I didn’t mean to worry you. Things just got hectic."

"You’re not hurt, are you?"

"No, just tired. I’ll be home soon."

She let out a sigh. "Alright. I’ll prepare your lunch."

"Thanks. I’ll be there in a bit."

The call ended right away.

After a minute or two, he dragged himself to the shower for the third time.

That’s right—he had to take several showers. Every hour or so, she would start going at it again, treating his "manhood" like a snack.

At some point, he started to wonder who the real mana-born was—him or her.

Back at his apartment building, he was surprised to see Anna at the restaurant downstairs.

Across the room, she noticed him and waved him over.

Anna leaned back in her seat with a knowing smile "Well, look who finally came back. Did she kept you busy till morning?"

Terrence let out a small sigh and sat across from her. "You knew?"

"I predicted it already. I’m not a genius for nothing," She looked at him tenderly, then took a slow bite. "Did you enjoy it?"

Terrence leaned back in his seat and grabbed the glass of water in front of him. . "I’m not the play-and-tell type."

Anna tilted her head. "Fair enough. So, does that mean you won’t tell anyone if we do it too?"

She slowly raised her leg, brushing it against him under the table.

Terrence sighed, rubbing his face. "Not today."

Just the thought of doing it with someone else so soon made his whole body tense up. He actually shuddered.

"Why?" she asked, her voice softer but still teasing. "Don’t you like me?"

"It’s not like that," he kept his eyes on the table. "Today’s just... not a good day."

A playful giggle slipped out.. "Relax, I was just messing with you."

He looked at her, raising an eyebrow. "Even the part about sleeping with me?"

She grinned. "That was the only part I meant."

After finishing her food, she stood up and grabbed her bag. "I’ve got a meeting. Don’t get too lonely."

Before leaving, her lips brushed his in a quick kiss.

"You can come to my unit anytime if you wanna have fun. Just text me."

Then she was gone, leaving him staring at his drank glass of water.

The thought of Anna liking him made him happy.

Everything was going his way—until he caught someone in the corner of his eye.

Through the glass, Effie stood outside, looking in. A polite smile masked what looked like sadness behind her eyes.

She probably saw everything.

Without thinking, he hurried after her, words tumbling to form an explanation.

But she just shook her head. "Don’t worry. Like I told you before, I don’t mind if you get yourself a girlfriend."

"Are you really sure?"

She stood still for a moment, eyes flicking away from his face. Her fingers clenched the hem of her sleeve, holding it tight like she needed something to calm down.

"Terrence... please. I want you to enjoy your youth. If you do, maybe it won’t feel like I stole it from you."

He grabbed her shoulder. "You didn’t steal anything from me. It was our choice, Aunt Effie. Both of us."

She quickly wiped away her tears and turned around, keeping her back to him.

"Let’s not talk about this in public. We don’t want anyone starting rumors... especially since your girlfriend lives in this building too."

"I..." Terrence couldn’t find the words. Hearing her say all that only made him more guilty.

In the end, following her felt like the only option.

Inside their unit, they ate lunch in silence. Effie didn’t say a word.

In the kitchen, she went about the routine without a word.

Every time he tried to start a conversation, she would just nod—no words, no reaction beyond that.

’I’ll just let her calm down first’

Understanding women’s feelings was never his strong suit. And pushing her to talk now might only make things worse.

After the meal, the office became his escape.

The moment she heard his door lock, she rushed into her own room and broke down, burying her face into her hands as the tears finally spilled.

She held it in long enough.

All the sadness and insecurity she been holding back started to eat away at her.

She told herself she would accept everything.

But watching a beautiful girl like Anna kiss him—smiling like he belonged her—was too much.

Suddenly, the world felt too big, and she felt too small to matter.

Anna looked confident, smart, and had a career of her own. In comparison, what did she have?

She didn’t work. She didn’t stand out. She just stayed by his side, doing chores like some kind of live-in maid.

And deep down, she wondered if that was all she’d ever be to him.

’Would he grow tired of me?’

’What happens if he gets married someday?’

Would she still be around, doing his laundry, cooking his meals, pretending none of it hurt?

Or would she be pushed aside—quietly, politely—because someone else had taken her place?

Her chest tightened. The thought made it hard to breathe.

’Please... Terrence... don’t leave me... I can still be useful..’

She wanted to say it to him. She wanted to scream it.

But the words stayed buried in her throat.

She couldn’t bring herself to tie him down with guilt. Not when he was finally living his life.

’He would hate me for being selfish,’ she thought, wiping her tears away.

’You can’t be selfish. You must endure it all—you deserve this.’
