CHAPTER 162: CHAPTER 157 IN MY EYES, THERE ARE ONLY TWO KINDS OF WOMEN (FIRST UPDATE)
"Yi Lingfei is here, and she’s refusing to leave outside. She said her mom passed away, her younger brother’s detained at the police station, and she can’t manage to bury her mom alone. She’s asking Mr. Yi to send her some help." After Yuan Hang finished speaking, he didn’t dare to look at Tong Airui again, afraid his boss might start scolding.
Tong Airui stole a glance at Yi Luowa and saw her brow furrowed deeply. Raising an eyebrow slightly, he said, "Go tell her that her brother can be released today."
Yi Luowa’s expression became very complex as she shot him a look.
Tong Airui grinned and asked, "Isn’t this what you wanted? If you don’t want Yi Shaoqing out, there’s still time to change your mind."
Yi Luowa chuckled, picked up Duoduo’s little hand, and lightly patted his shoulder. Duoduo giggled loudly.
Truthfully, even she didn’t understand what she wanted to do. Tong Airui had made the decision for her, and her mood seemed to lighten considerably. Perhaps, deep down, she did hope for Yi Shaoqing to be released. After all, since her return, Yi Shaoqing had treated her decently. If not for Yi Lingfei provoking him, he wouldn’t have hit her in the first place.
Tong Airui raised a hand, signaling Yuan Hang to leave. Watching Yuan Hang walk away with his men, he turned his head toward Yi Luowa and asked, "Tired? How about putting Duoduo on the bed?"
Yi Luowa glanced at a few nurses sneaking peeks at the two of them and pouted as she nodded.
The two headed back to Yi Luowa’s hospital room. Tong Airui smiled and ruffled Yi Luowa’s hair. "What’s with the sulky face out there just now?"
Yi Luowa puffed out her cheeks and stared at him for a good while before responding, "Why do you have to be so good-looking?! Didn’t you notice how they were staring at you?"
Tong Airui tilted his lips into a smirk. "Why would I look at them? In my eyes, there are only two kinds of women: one is you, and the other is all the rest. They don’t even catch my attention, so you don’t need to bother with them—just ignore them."
Yi Luowa rolled her eyes, gently placing Duoduo on the bed. Duoduo flopped onto the bed with an audible "thump," kicking his tiny legs and giggling non-stop.
Yi Luowa gasped. "Duoduo, doesn’t that hurt?"
"Hehe..." Duoduo suddenly grabbed onto Yi Luowa’s hair.
Tong Airui quickly pried Duoduo’s hand away. "If I catch you pulling your aunt’s hair again, watch me smack your butt!"
Duoduo’s little mouth pouted, and he looked as though he was about to cry.
Tong Airui pinched his nose lightly and said, "Little man, no crying allowed!"
Duoduo let out a plaintive wail.
Yi Luowa immediately swatted Tong Airui’s hand away and picked Duoduo up. "Tong Airui, you’re too much! He’s just a child. How would he even understand what you’re saying? Why are you teasing him?"
"I’m not teasing him; I’m teaching him a lesson. If he bullies my wife, he needs to know there are consequences!" Tong Airui retorted as he reached out again to pinch Duoduo’s nose.
Yi Luowa grabbed Duoduo and evaded him quickly. "If you keep teasing him, I’m going to hit you!"
"Just let me teach him a little lesson!" Tong Airui chased after her.
Yi Luowa dashed around the room, clutching Duoduo, who suddenly stopped crying and instead burst into fits of laughter as the two adults started running circles around the hospital room.
"You little rascal! You bully my wife and still find it funny?" Tong Airui pointed at Duoduo. "Alright, laugh all you want! Since your aunt won’t let me hit you, I’ll go hit your dad later!"
Long Che and Tong Yao happened to walk past the door. Seeing the two adults and one child enjoying themselves in such a lively game, they exchanged a glance and smiled before heading toward Big Mouth’s hospital room.
Monica and Xiaoyudian were following behind Long Che. As soon as Monica heard Tong Airui threatening to hit her, she darted past the hospital room door at lightning speed.
Xiaoyudian gave her an annoyed look. "He wouldn’t even hurt you that much; why are you running?"
"That’s basically become your and Ai Ni’s catchphrase now! When Fourth Brother hits you two, he doesn’t even try. But if he goes for me, it’s like he’s out for blood." Monica grimaced. "I better keep my distance from him today."
Long Che’s lips twitched as he turned to glance at Monica. "Tell your two uncles not to call me again!"
Monica froze for a moment before laughing. "Dad, you brought them up first. Otherwise, I wouldn’t dare say anything to annoy you. I heard from my eldest uncle that after Shiqing returned, she was beaten up by my aunt. And then..."
Tong Yao, seeing Monica hesitate, quickly asked, "And then what happened?"
"Shiqing slit her wrists and attempted suicide..."
"What?!" Tong Yao looked at Monica in shock. "Something that serious, and you didn’t say anything sooner!"
Xiaoyudian hooked her arm around Tong Yao’s. "Mom, I told Monica not to tell you. That doesn’t even count as a real suicide attempt! She barely scratched herself; there wasn’t even a need for stitches. I think she’s just being dramatic. If someone truly wanted to die, would they make such a show of it by slitting their wrists in front of everyone?"
Tong Yao furrowed her brows slightly. "Regardless of whether it was a genuine attempt, it’s still something we know about, and we should show some concern. Ignoring it like this—what will Ni Lu and the others think? Long Che, after we’ve visited Big Mouth, you should call Ni Lu right away."
"If you want to call, that’s up to you. I don’t have the patience for it!" Long Che snorted coldly.
Tong Yao shot him a sideways glance. "Have you thought about the consequences of not making the call?"
Long Che glanced at her. "Threaten me all you want. Worst-case scenario, I’ll sleep in the guest room tonight."
Xiaoyudian strained to hold back her laughter, tugging on Long Che’s sleeve.
Long Che scowled at her. "Look at the family you’ve married into—there’s not a single good thing about them..."
"Long Che!" Tong Yao barked sharply, cutting off his sentence.
