CHAPTER 196: CHAPTER 187 WHO DARES TO HELP YOU! (THIRD UPDATE)
"Second Uncle~" Yi Luowa’s eyes reddened as she threw herself at him.
Yi Weiyang gave her a slap on the butt, "Think I can’t catch you? Always messing with me for no reason!"
Connie stared at her suspiciously.
Yi Luowa immediately caught on, "Ha! Dig deeper!"
"You’ll understand tonight," Yi Luowa said with a mysterious smile.
"Thanks!" Huo Li replied with a less-than-sincere tone.
"He said I’m immature, a palace-bred idiot, and that I’ve spent too long at the academy, ogling at men as soon as I see them."
"Good job!" Yi Luowa nodded approvingly. "You’re behaving so well, I’ll let you talk to Second Uncle now."
"I know your tricks! If I say I want it, you’ll definitely tell me I can’t have it." Yi Luowa strolled over lazily, and while Aunt Li wasn’t paying attention, she snatched the orange. "From now on, no more niceness with any of you. I get hit, and you still say I deserved it."
After the brief introductions, Maizekai lazily interjected, "Fourth Sister-in-law, tell the family to bring me dinner. I’ll head over to eat after my shift."
"Go ahead," Connie reached out to hold Duoduo, but Duoduo turned away, hugging Yi Luowa’s neck tightly.
"Tailbone’s fine, just sprained my ankle," Jimo Shanshan said glumly, pointing at her right foot.
"You don’t have to work?" Tong Aino sauntered over.
"Bullying me! Hmph! Tomorrow I’ll find an old witch to deal with you!" Yi Luowa rubbed her butt and shuffled slowly toward the door. She couldn’t understand—she cried out for help after getting hit, yet no one came to her rescue?
"Deserved it!" Aunt Li teased her while holding an orange, "Want some?"
Yi Luowa left the room, thinking Second Uncle would end the call quickly. Instead, the conversation grew longer. Eavesdropping revealed Second Uncle advising Huo Li not to argue with her mom and to be an obedient good child.
"What’s up?" Yi Luowa whispered as soon as they stepped outside.
Ao Xiang chuckled, "You mess with Second Uncle like that and expect us to help you? If we do, Second Uncle won’t let us off later."
Before Ao Xiang could finish his sentence, Yi Luowa bolted to Yi Weiyang’s ward door. "Second Uncle, Ao Xiang said you’re a bad guy!"
"Zhu Bao’er, drop dead!" Huo Li instantly dropped the act, "Where’s Second Uncle? I’m not talking to you!"
"What now?" Yi Luowa squatted down, pretending to be an expert as she examined her leg. Even though she didn’t have a clue, she could tell the ankle was swollen.
Their card game plan was disrupted by Huo Li’s long call, and before they could get started, Tong Aino and Connie returned.
Just as Yi Weiyang finished speaking, his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and handed the phone to Yi Luowa, "It’s Huo Li, looking for you."
"Going home?" Tong Aino asked grimly.
"What happened? Is it really a bone fracture?" Yi Luowa asked worriedly.
Jimo Shanshan froze for a moment and obediently sat back down in the wheelchair.
Yi Luowa pouted and handed the phone to Second Uncle but loudly reminded, "Only say two sentences to her!"
Yi Luowa felt like laughing. Huo Li really seemed to be regressing as time went on.
"With Tong Airui around, you’d still miss me? Stop acting!" Huo Li snorted. "Just make sure to take good care of Second Uncle for me. I might pop into Xiawu anytime to inspect."
"Then I won’t stay at the Duke’s estate either," Connie huffed, clearly still upset.
"Such swagger! Karma’s coming for you, someday you won’t even dare to act tough!" Yi Luowa scolded him, grabbed Connie and Jimo Shanshan to say goodbye, then followed him into the elevator.
Unperturbed, Maizekai cleared his throat, "Connie has traveled all the way to the capital. As her host, I must be polite. Tonight, I’ll go home and have dinner with her."
"You’re a kindhearted young lady, wouldn’t have the heart to come after us."
"I didn’t say anything," Ao Lie sat up casually.
Yi Luowa pouted, "I got hit!"
Yi Luowa shot him an annoyed glance and turned to Jimo Shanshan, "Shanshan, I’d suggest changing doctors. I don’t trust him to treat you properly."
"Seventh Brother, if you dare go home tonight, I’ll break your leg!" Tong Aino said, clutching his phone as he stormed off. Seeing no one following, he turned back, "Why aren’t you moving?"
"Sure. I’ll grab a change of clothes." Yi Luowa blinked at Connie, "Connie, want to come with me?"
"This brat!" Yi Weiyang laughed and pointed at her. "Call everyone over to play cards with me; otherwise, just watching you will drive me crazy."
"Destiny," Maizekai replied lazily with two words.
Yi Luowa smirked mischievously, "Then butter me up nicely, and I’ll arrange a good job for you."
Maizekai responded in dead earnest, "Fourth Brother’s not home, so I’ll keep Fourth Sister-in-law company tonight—to save her from feeling lonely."
Yi Luowa nudged her with her elbow, "Just ’hmm’? Have you considered why Tong Aino got so mad?"
"Annoying! Tell Second Uncle to save me a spot; I’m graduating soon and want to work for him. My mom scolds me every day—I’m fed up."
"Ugh—" Yi Luowa gagged dramatically, "Pretending again! Keep it up!"
"Really?" Yi Luowa’s face lit up. "Then come visit me and Second Uncle during the holidays, okay?"
Yi Luowa took the phone suspiciously. Why was Huo Li calling her on her second uncle’s phone?
"I’m fine." Jimo Shanshan smiled and tried to get up. "Sit down!" Maizekai snapped at her.
The two grabbed a set of clothes and headed back. They bumped into Maizekai pushing Jimo Shanshan down the hallway.
Yi Luowa and Connie exchanged glances—Maizekai sure had a temper!
Connie silently followed her out.
Tong Aino pulled out his phone and said to Maizekai, "Repeat what you just said. I’ll record it and send it to Fourth Brother."
Yi Luowa pursed her lips, "Got it. I know it’s all because you care about me. In the future, I’ll only bully you guys, not anyone else."
Yi Luowa looked up at Maizekai, "Shanshan still has to travel to Xiawu soon. With this swelling, can she even walk?"
"Hmm," Connie murmured.
Yi Luowa patted Duoduo and whispered, "Connie, from my perspective as a love expert, Tong Aino’s about to surrender. Just find the right moment, give him an extra nudge, and he’ll be at your mercy."
Yi Weiyang was amused by her antics and burst into laughter, "I see who dares to help you!"
Once the three got home, Yi Luowa passed Maizekai’s message on to Tong Yao. Dinner was postponed by an hour while they waited for him. Yi Luowa carried Duoduo into Connie’s room.
"Pretty well. After the parade, we’re heading to Xiawu. Piggy, what will I do if I start missing you?" Yi Luowa pretended to sniffle.
"I wasn’t planning on having him treat me anyway," Jimo Shanshan grinned. "Are you heading out?"
Huo Li burst into laughter, "This holiday isn’t even over, and you’re already planning for the next one. You’re too much! Oh, right, Justin is back too. He came to see me, but I didn’t dare go out with him."
"Stop trying to stir trouble!" Yi Weiyang snorted at her. "You can mess around at home all you want, but when you visit Airui’s family, you better behave. Think carefully before you speak, okay?"
Yi Luowa hugged her, "No, don’t! If Tong Airui isn’t home and then you leave, who’ll keep me company? We agreed to be friends, didn’t we?"
"You didn’t help me either, so you’re not a good person!" Yi Luowa shot him a dissatisfied sidelong glance.
Yi Luowa glared at him, "Not afraid I’ll make you pay instead?"
"I’m going with Connie to stay at the villa... Oh right, haven’t introduced you two yet—this is Connie, and Connie, this is Jimo Shanshan."
"Hello, Second Uncle, it’s Huo Li!" Huo Li’s sweet voice came through.
"No big deal—this is a hospital. They’ve seen worse ailments here. This little injury will be fine by tomorrow," Jimo Shanshan smiled.
"Hmm," Connie replied.
"Love expert? Ha ha... Luowa, you’re killing me!" Connie couldn’t stop laughing.
"What did you just say?"
"You two troublemakers!" Yi Weiyang chuckled helplessly.
"Nothing," Yi Luowa shook her head so vigorously it looked like a rattle. "Tonight, sleep over with me, and I’ll tell you exactly why Tong Aino got mad. Everything you said—it’s all wrong. Even if it came from Tong Aino’s mouth, it wasn’t the truth."
Yi Luowa couldn’t hold back her laughter—this guy really had a knack for infuriating people!
"While having coffee, someone asked for my number. I wasn’t sure whether to give it, and Tong Aino got mad and dragged me back here. He scolded me the whole way back," Connie pouted.
Yi Luowa pinched her chin thoughtfully, "He scolds you; you fight back. Why brood over it? Besides, big darling, let me tell you—not handing out your number to random men is the way to go. Tong Aino chastising you is also for your own good."
Connie cast her a doubtful glance, "What else is there? He looks down on me. I’m calling my dad soon; I’m not going to Xiawu! Once the parade is over, I’m heading home."
"Can you listen to me for once?" Yi Luowa asked urgently.
"Stop joking! I’m serious! How is Second Uncle recovering these days?"
Seeing the two of them, Yi Luowa exclaimed inwardly, Dear god, why do their faces look so grim?
Outside the door, Aunt Li was peeling oranges for the two Ao brothers. Seeing her emerge, the three of them acted like she wasn’t even there.
Yi Luowa saw the suitcase nearly packed and frowned slightly. "You’re really leaving, huh?"
Connie, noticing her arrival, put down the clothes she was packing.
"Second Uncle won’t answer your calls! Speak quickly!" Yi Luowa laughed, hands on her hips.
Yi Luowa covered her mouth and laughed, "You silly thing!"
Yi Luowa glared at her, "Never eaten pork but seen pigs run, right? And since Fourth Brother and Fifth Brother are twins, having figured out Fourth Brother’s personality, I can somewhat gauge Fifth Brother’s too. Let me tell you..."
"Shanshan, did you get your scans done?" Yi Luowa asked with concern.
Yi Luowa clutched her little butt and yelped, "Aunt Li, Ao Lie, my second uncle hit me!"
Yi Luowa whispered in Connie’s ear for a while, making Connie’s face flush bright red.
