CHAPTER 221: CHAPTER 211: LET’S SEE HOW HE CONTINUES TO COMMIT ATROCITIES (THIRD UPDATE)
"What did you do to him?" Yi Luowa gazed at the usually gentle Justine, suddenly realizing that he might actually be a ruthless character.
"Castrated him," Justine said nonchalantly.
Justine chuckled lowly, "What the police saw on the scene was Huo Li’s mom holding a fruit knife, passed out next to Kai Bin."
Tong Airui glanced at him. This guy really knows how to stand by his friends.
Justine seemed half-convinced but didn’t press further. He furrowed his brow and looked toward someone who’d been standing at the glass window of the hospital room. "Who’s that?" he asked.
Justine nodded and glanced at her injured leg, which Tong Airui was carefully supporting. Frowning, he asked, "How did you get hurt?"
"That’s Tong Airui’s cousin, a famous surgeon from Z Country. When Huo Li wakes up, he’ll give her a thorough check-up." Yi Luowa lowered her voice and shouted, "Old Seven, come take a break."
Yi Luowa leaned forward and peeked at the hospital room door. She fervently wished Huo Li would walk out of the room herself right now—even if it was to yell at her. She would gladly take it.
Tong Airui raised a hand and wiped her tears, "Huo Li will be fine. When she wakes up and sees you crying like this, she’ll feel heartbroken."
Yi Luowa sniffled, "Some things are destined to happen, and I can’t change that. But I have to make sure Huo Li gets justice for this."
"I was restless the whole afternoon. By evening, the unease was unbearable. I thought of everything, but I never imagined something so terrible would happen to Huo Li." Yi Luowa silently shed tears. If she had been in F Country, Huo Li’s first call would’ve been to her—and then none of this would’ve happened.
Yi Luowa waited outside for over half an hour. Instead of seeing Huo Li wake up, she saw the F Country police arrive. Justine, as a witness, was taken in for questioning. As he left, he flashed a victory hand gesture at Yi Luowa.
Justine raised an eyebrow slightly, "Then I flushed his filth down the toilet. From now on, I want to see how he continues to commit evil acts!"
Tong Airui smiled and kissed her cheek lightly, "Let me make a call first."
Yi Luowa watched him enter the elevator with a heavy heart and then asked Tong Airui, "Justine won’t be in trouble, will he?"
Justine ruffled his hair in frustration, "Huo Li’s accident was partly my fault. Right before it happened, she called me, but I was caught up in something else and didn’t answer. When I called her back, her phone was already off. Huo Li rarely reaches out to me first. I had a bad feeling, so I drove to their house. Before I even got out of the car, I saw Huo Li jump down from the third floor."
"Not for now. The police were very clear—he’s just being questioned as an eyewitness." Tong Airui pulled out his phone, "To put your mind at ease, I’ll cover for him. That way nothing will happen to him."
Yi Luowa quickly covered her mouth and nodded vigorously.
"There’s no ’just in case.’ I won’t let them find any evidence against me."
Yi Luowa blinked, "You—you’re ruthless!"
Yi Luowa leaned weakly against Tong Airui’s shoulder, "She probably called you at around eight o’clock F Country time, right?"
Yi Luowa raised a thumb, "Gotta give you a thumbs up for that! But just in case, you should still lay low for a while. Leave Huo Li to me."
Tong Airui shot her a guilty look. She was covering for him; she didn’t want Justine to know he hadn’t been able to protect her.
"Fourth Brother, thank... I love you!" Since Huo Li’s accident, this was Yi Luowa’s first smile. She had meant to say thank you, but the look in Tong Airui’s eyes made it clear he didn’t want to hear those words.
"Got a little reckless with stunt driving." Yi Luowa laughed at herself, "Huo Li and I really are like sisters—getting injured together."
Justine nodded, "Yeah, after calling me, she tried reaching you, but Kai Bin and her mom snatched the phone away from her."
The three of them sat on a bench. Tong Airui lifted Yi Luowa’s leg onto his own before he asked, "Justine, how did you know something happened to Huo Li?"
Yi Luowa glanced cautiously around and whispered, "Keep your voice down. If the police overhear, you’ll be in big trouble!"
Ma Ze Kai shook his head, "The patient shows signs of waking. I’ll watch over her. You go get some rest."
Tong Airui made the call and spoke fluent F Country language. It was only then that Yi Luowa realized how wise and strong the man beside her was. In such a short period, he had thought through every possible problem that might arise.
