Chapter 621 - 531 Luova’s Demonic Barrier (First Update)
CHAPTER 621: CHAPTER 531 LUOVA’S DEMONIC BARRIER (FIRST UPDATE)
Tong Airui, who had been eavesdropping outside the door, chuckled and turned to Yi Weiyang, "Honey-trap, self-sacrifice..."
Yi Weiyang laughed awkwardly, "Those two just can’t be together; they keep saying all sorts of unreliable things!"
"If they were reliable, what would we even be listening to?" Tong Airui grinned and knocked on the door. "Honey, Second Uncle needs to rest now, you better come out."
Yi Luowa exchanged a look with Huo Li, opened the door, and walked out.
"Second Uncle, let me help you in." Yi Luowa reached out to support Yi Weiyang.
Yi Weiyang smiled, "No need to help me; you should go upstairs. The two little ones should be going to bed. They’ve been fussing and whining because they haven’t seen you."
Huo Li nudged Yi Luowa, "You’d better head up. I’ll take care of it from here."
Yi Luowa pouted and went upstairs.
As for their plan, of course, it fell through. Both sides overheard everything—how could it possibly succeed?
Yi Weiyang fell asleep immediately after washing up, while Huo Li glared angrily at the man next to her in bed. She knew he did it on purpose, but what could she even do? Wake him up and interrogate him? That wasn’t something she could bring herself to do, because she couldn’t bear to trouble her "dear uncle."
Yi Luowa slept in until mid-morning and climbed out of bed to discover it was already ten o’clock. Where had everyone gone? How come nobody even bothered to wake her up!
Where was everyone? Having a meeting, of course.
Long Che held the last two DNA test reports in his hand and, before Yi Luowa woke up, announced a bombshell piece of news to the family.
"Luowa has finally found her parents!" When delivering the news, Long Che’s voice even trembled—he was genuinely happy for his daughter-in-law.
The whole family became excited immediately, eager to know the identities of Luowa’s biological parents. Yet Long Che didn’t reveal the names.
"Are her parents the Emperor and Empress of Haotian?" Prince Charles joked.
Danton blinked in astonishment and looked anxiously at Long Che, "Uncle, please stop teasing us. Is Sister Luowa really my blood sister? Honestly, I think it’s highly likely—my dad was acting kind of strange yesterday."
Long Che smiled but said nothing.
Yan Zi, impatient, pulled at her elder brother’s hand, trying to catch a glimpse of the names on the report. Long Che laughed, "Even if I let you look, you wouldn’t understand—it’s written entirely in a foreign language."
"This is so frustrating!" Yan Zi puffed up angrily and glared at her brother. "I agree with Uncle—I also think Luowa’s father could be the Haotian Emperor; just look at how he looked at Luowa and the two children yesterday. It says it all."
Mai Shenglun nodded in agreement, "I think so too. Honestly, I can’t think of anyone else who could give birth to such beautiful children."
"But if my sister really is the child of the Haotian Emperor, then how does Nancy fit into all of this?" Youyou scratched her head, looking puzzled.
Danton spotted her bruised neck, purple and blue, and suddenly widened his eyes in shock, "Youyou, did your eighth brother really hit you? Is this domestic violence?!"
"Domestic violence? Hah, I didn’t even hit him back—he’s lucky!" Youyou sneered, glancing disdainfully at Mi Chenxuan.
Mi Chenxuan snorted coldly and turned his head away.
Danton turned to Mi Chenxuan, scrutinized him, and saw nothing "injurious" on him. Turning back to Youyou, he exclaimed, "Youyou, there’s no mark on him, but you’ve got bruises on your neck!"
In an instant, Youyou’s face flushed bright red, all the way to her ears. She swatted him, "We’re talking about my sister here! Shut up already!"
"Your sister is my sister too!" Danton puffed out his chest with immense pride. "I’ve always said Sister Luowa is more like my sister. There’s no need to wonder. Earlier when Uncle raised his hand, I caught a glimpse of my dad’s name on the report."
"Why didn’t you mention this earlier?! Letting Uncle tease us here for ages!" Youyou reached out to smack him again. "Let’s go tell Sister the good news!"
Danton quickly interjected, "Hold on, Youyou. Don’t rush it. I think Uncle chose to announce this while Sister’s still asleep because he doesn’t want her to find out right now. Let’s wait until Uncle finishes speaking before deciding on our next move."
"Danton, you’re the clever one!" Long Che chuckled, "Well, I’d like to ask everyone here to keep this a secret. When the New Year’s countdown ends, let Rui’er give Luowa this amazing news as her New Year gift...
Actually, I’d hoped to delay this until after the New Year because Rui’er and I are worried Luowa might struggle to accept it right away, ruining her celebration. Initially, I planned to keep it secret from you all, but I couldn’t resist sharing the joy with you.
The Haotian Emperor and Empress have seen the DNA test results too. After the New Year holiday, they’ll come over to reunite with Luowa."
Danton shot up from his chair in excitement.
Youyou jumped, startled, "Danton, what are you doing?"
"I’m excited! Excited enough to streak!"
"Hahaha..." Youyou nearly laughed herself to the floor, "Your reaction time is way too slow! It’s been ages since you saw your dad’s name and only now you decide to get excited?"
Danton winked with a grin, "I didn’t actually see my dad’s name on the report. I just said that to coax Uncle into talking! I’m losing it—I need to go streak!"
Danton ran out in a frenzy, elated to know Luowa was his sister. He didn’t even stop to think about Nancy’s role in any of this, because in his heart, Luowa was the only sister that mattered!
Tong Yao glanced at Long Che with a smirk, "So, the hunter ends up being struck blind by the prey after all!"
Long Che laughed helplessly, "That kid seems so mild-mannered most of the time—how is he pulling off moves like Luowa’s now too?"
"They share genes!" Tong Yao chuckled as she stood up. "Luowa should be waking up soon. Everyone should get back to their usual activities—just make sure she doesn’t notice anything is out of the ordinary."
And they played their roles perfectly. When Yi Luowa came downstairs, the family behaved as they always did, showing no signs of anything unusual.
Lance and Qiqi left after lunch. After all, they wanted to spend New Year’s with their own people.
Big Treasure and Little Treasure didn’t want to leave, but they had to attend the New Year festivities as well, so they followed their parents back to Bastu.
As soon as Lance left, Mi Chenshuo and Joyina returned from the film base.
Tong Airui frowned slightly upon noticing Ke Jingran wasn’t with them, "Didn’t I tell you to bring Ke Jingran along too? Why isn’t he here?"
Mi Chenshuo sighed resignedly, "We tried talking to him all day, but he said New Year is for family gatherings and didn’t want to intrude. Anyway, he promised to visit after wrapping up this film project."
"I’ll go and see him myself when I’m done with everything." Tong Airui’s lips curled slightly.
Mi Chenshuo was taken aback, "What has he done to earn a visit from you?"
"You’ll understand after tonight." Tong Airui smiled mysteriously.
"Playing coy again!" Mi Chenshuo chuckled and punched him lightly. "I’ll be waiting then."
"Just you wait. Whether it’s good or bad, you’ll find out tonight." Tong Airui cast a concerned glance at Huo Li’s room.
His wife, still unwilling to give up, had gone to Huo Li’s room to gather intel again. Fortunately, since the announcement, Second Uncle hadn’t left Huo Li’s side. Even if Huo Li wanted to expose the truth to Luowa, she wouldn’t get the chance.
Yi Luowa entered her second uncle’s room, trying every trick she could think of to make her uncle leave, but Yi Weiyang remained steadfast, sitting on the sofa watching the two women.
Huo Li, seeing how flustered Luowa was, sighed helplessly, "There’s no point trying to get your second uncle out of here. I didn’t find out anything last night."
Yi Luowa frowned slightly, "What do you mean?"
"Your second uncle was tired last night. As soon as he got into bed, he fell asleep."
Yi Luowa pouted and sat down next to Yi Weiyang, "The more you act like this, the fishier it gets! Spill it—how long are you planning to keep me in the dark?"
"Well..."
"Huo Li, can I come in?" Joyina’s voice sounded from the doorway.
Huo Li smiled, "Come on in. I didn’t even notice when you got back!"
"Hello, Second Uncle!" Joyina greeted Yi Weiyang as she entered. Her gaze quickly shifted to Huo Li’s stomach. "I thought there’d be a bump by now, but I can’t see anything yet!"
"Another ten days or so and you’ll start to see something. I’m not anxious, so why are you in such a hurry?" Huo Li laughed. "That movie of yours is almost wrapped up, right? When it premieres, I’ll book a hundred showings for you."
Joyina pouted discontentedly, "You’re a rich woman—only a hundred showings? That’s way too few!"
Huo Li grinned, "Fine, I’ll add another hundred!"
"Two hundred from you, two hundred from Second Uncle, and let’s have Fourth Sister-in-law book five hundred. That should be enough."
Yi Luowa shot her a glance, "Four hundred isn’t enough for you, huh? How about I book out every major cinema across the country and invite everyone to watch for free?"
"That’s a great idea! Hey... Fourth Sister-in-law, where are you going? I’m not done talking yet!" Joyina called out as Yi Luowa got up and ran off.
"Your Fourth Brother has to go to Shenying. I’ll check on him. I’ll be back to hang out with you, you shameless little rascal!" Yi Luowa laughed as she ran upstairs.
Joyina stuck her tongue out at Huo Li, "I don’t know why my Fourth Brother told me to come in and stir things up, but it looks like I’ve accomplished my mission."
Huo Li chuckled, "Thanks for rescuing us—Luowa was possessed. After tonight, she should be back to normal."
