CHAPTER 628: CHAPTER 535: WATCH OUT, I’LL SEW YOUR MOUTH SHUT! (SECOND UPDATE)
Tong Airui curled the corners of his lips lightly, "Just like your sister, worrying about everything for no reason! Your sister hasn’t even acknowledged Mom and Dad yet, how can I start calling them? Hurry up and put on your clothes, go upstairs and get some sleep!"
Danton threw the clothes over his shoulder, "Brother-in-law, does that mean when my sister finally calls them Mom and Dad, you’ll do it too, right?"
"That’s right——!" Tong Airui dragged out his words as he replied.
Yi Luowa glanced at him, "Can’t you talk to him properly?"
Tong Airui smirked, reached out, and straightened Danton’s collar, "You don’t even bother wearing your clothes properly. Your health isn’t great; you need to learn to take care of yourself."
"Haha, I’ll pay attention next time." Danton smiled at Tong Airui, "Brother-in-law, you used to be like a god in my eyes..."
"And now?" Tong Airui asked with a smile.
"Now you’re human, just like me—with desires and jealous moments."
"After spending a few more days with him, you’ll realize he’s neither a god nor a human. What he is, you’ll figure that out yourself. Haha..." Youyou said, pulling Mi Chenxuan upstairs.
Tong Airui said sinisterly, "I’ll send my eighth brother away tomorrow! Let’s see if you can go a whole year without seeing him!"
"Then I’ll take my sister and the kids away!" Youyou’s voice echoed from upstairs.
"Sis, let’s head up too." Danton turned to Yi Luowa.
Yi Luowa smiled and said, "You and your brother-in-law go up first, I’ll help your fifth sister-in-law. She’s not feeling well."
Danton obediently nodded and followed Tong Airui upstairs.
Connie, wrapped in a coat, smiled and said, "Sister-in-law, I’m fine, you should go up."
"I noticed that the fifth brother drank quite a bit, and I worry that he might mess something up." Yi Luowa smiled and supported Connie, "Take it slow on the stairs."
"Okay." Connie carefully climbed the stairs and asked with a smile, "Sister-in-law, finally finding your parents—are you happy?"
Yi Luowa chuckled, "It feels like a dream! I never expected to find them. But just when I was about to give up, they appeared. My emotions have been like a roller coaster."
"Sister-in-law, before you knew they were your parents, did you have a feeling?"
"I didn’t think about it that way, but I inexplicably liked Danton. I kept worrying about him and felt a strong urge to look after him." Yi Luowa laughed, looking at Connie, "You know I’m not a petty person and I’d never be jealous. But when Nancy came with Haotian... when she came to our home and I saw how well she treated Nancy, I was furious."
"Haha... Look at you, is it so hard to call someone Mom? You’ve never mentioned this before."
"I was afraid you’d laugh at me."
Yi Luowa smiled as she helped Connie up the last step. Seeing Tong Airui waiting for her at the top of the stairs, she frowned slightly, "It’s so cold outside, why are you standing here letting the wind blow on you?"
"Waiting for you for a bit." Tong Airui leaned to look down and saw Tong Aino wobbling his way up, "Aino’s up too, let’s go inside."
They all entered the hall together. Danton stood by the door, holding his clothes, smiling brightly at Yi Luowa, "Sis, I’m so excited I can’t even sleep. Come to my room and let’s chat for a bit?"
Tong Airui raised his hand and flicked Danton’s forehead, "You’re not sleepy, but your sister is. Go to bed early and chat tomorrow."
Yi Luowa, feeling sorry, rubbed Danton’s forehead, "Don’t just hit him for no reason!"
"Was I hitting him? Yi Luowa, I think we need to talk seriously." Tong Airui pulled her hand down, displeased. "Danton’s not a child. If you keep doting on him like this, when will he learn to be independent? If he can’t be independent, how will he manage the country in the future? What, are you planning to stay by his side for the rest of your life?"
Yi Luowa shot him a glance, "Say one more word of that lofty reasoning, and I’ll sew your mouth shut!"
"Fourth sister-in-law, I’ve got a needle." Mai Zekai strolled in slowly.
"Got a scalpel?" Yi Luowa turned to look at him.
Mai Zekai burst out laughing, "What do you need a scalpel for? Are you planning to turn my fourth brother into one of your girlfriends?"
"You all are going to be the death of me!" Tong Airui checked the time and said, "It’s late, everyone go to bed!"
Danton pouted, turning back with reluctance as he walked upstairs.
Tong Aino glanced at him, "Danton, let fifth brother give you some advice: don’t go messing with your sister tonight. Whatever it is, talk about it in the morning."
"Why?" Danton asked, puzzled.
"This kid, always cooped up in the palace, doesn’t understand a thing. Spend a few years roaming the world and you’ll naturally understand!" Tong Aino chuckled, patting him. "Go on. Did you forget what your seventh aunt told you? You need to get plenty of rest!"
Danton begrudgingly looked at Yi Luowa. She waved at him with a smile, "Go on, I’ll spend time with you tomorrow."
Danton let out an "Oh" and quickly ran upstairs.
Once Tong Aino saw him head up, he turned to Yi Luowa and said, "Sister-in-law, my brother might’ve sounded super jealous saying those things earlier, but he does have a point. When you were nineteen, you knew so much about the world. Look at Danton, he’s so innocent it’s heartbreaking. Don’t baby him all the time—let him start handling things himself. From now on, just remind him here and there if needed. I see it clearly—Danton’s sharp-minded; he uses his brains to handle everything. But he has zero real-world experience."
Yi Luowa fell silent. What Tong Airui and Tong Aino said wasn’t without merit. Looks like she really needed to be more careful from now on.
"I’ll listen to you!" Yi Luowa smiled, pulling Tong Airui’s hand. "Hubby, let’s go upstairs."
Tong Airui snorted, "Not sewing my mouth shut anymore?"
Yi Luowa pouted, "If you had spoken like the fifth brother earlier, I wouldn’t have said those things."
Tong Airui squinted at her, "Let’s go back to the room so I can properly apologize!"
"Hubby, I’m begging you, let me sleep! My eyes can’t stay open."
"Then answer me now—who will walk with you for the rest of your life?"
"Tong Airui!"
"Who treats you the best?"
"Tong Airui!"
"And who’s your favorite?"
"..." Yi Luowa’s eyes darted slightly. There were so many people who treated her well!
Tong Airui raised his hand and gave her a light pat, "This isn’t a multiple-choice question. You can only say one name."
"Tong Airui!" Yi Luowa said the answer he wanted and gave him a little push. "Go to sleep now, or it’ll be dawn soon."
"Since you’re being cooperative, I’ll spare you tonight!" Tong Airui rolled back onto his pillow.
"Wifey... Wifey?"
Yi Luowa was already so tired her eyes wouldn’t stay open. The moment Tong Airui lay down, she closed her eyes. At this point, even if their kids called her "Mom," she wouldn’t open her eyes.
Tong Airui chuckled, pulling her into his arms, "Sleep. This way you won’t have insomnia."
Yi Luowa, in her half-asleep state, heard this and felt warmth in her heart. He was afraid she’d overthink and be unable to sleep, so he deliberately tired her out so she’d have no choice but to fall asleep. Ah! He really was something, because only with him could she sleep so soundly.
"Thank you," Yi Luowa murmured in a dreamlike tone, snuggling into Tong Airui’s arms as she drifted off to sleep.
Yi Luowa fell sound asleep, but Tong Airui couldn’t sleep.
Finding her parents was a joyful event for his wife, but for him, it wasn’t necessarily good news. It meant an added burden on his shoulders. Right now, his mind was filled with thoughts about Haotian’s side of things.
Looking at his wife soundly asleep in his arms, Tong Airui smiled helplessly, "Am I stupid? Why did I have to be so persistent about finding your parents? I really just created more problems for myself."
"It’s because you care about me," the half-asleep woman responded.
Tong Airui reached out and pinched her nose, "Are you really asleep or just pretending?"
The tickling sensation on her nose made Yi Luowa frown unhappily. She rubbed her face against Tong Airui’s chest a couple of times and turned back to resume her peaceful sleep.
Tong Airui chuckled and snuggled up to her, pulling her back into his arms and finally caught some sleep himself.
The next morning, half the family overslept.
Long Che was so annoyed he wanted to knock on everyone’s doors.
Tong Yao pulled him back, "The kids hardly ever get a break; let them sleep in."
"You’re too indulgent! Randy is arriving early tomorrow. If they’re like this again, they’ll get caught staying in bed!"
Tong Yao smirked, "It’s only eight o’clock. Yesterday morning, Luowa slept until ten, and you didn’t say a word. But now that everyone’s oversleeping, you’re all worked up? Long Che, your bias is way too obvious!"
Yi Weiyang shook his head, smiling, "I’ll talk to Luowa when she wakes up."
Long Che glared at Yi Weiyang in dissatisfaction, "Talk to her about what? Luowa’s emotions have been all over the place these days. Nobody’s allowed to upset her, or you’ll have to answer to me!"
Just as Yi Luowa and Tong Airui stepped out of their bedroom, they heard this heartwarming statement. The two exchanged glances and laughed.
