CHAPTER 631: CHAPTER 537: WHO KNOCKED OVER THE VINEGAR JAR? (SECOND UPDATE)

"I was wondering why you’re so happy!" Connie laughed and nudged her, "What did they say?"

Yi Luowa burst into laughter, "You wouldn’t believe it even if I told you. Not a single serious word was exchanged—we were just joking around. My mom is so mischievous! She pretended to be sick to scare me into calling her ’mom’."

"Haha, well, you sure take after your mom." Connie covered her mouth, laughing, "Honestly, every family is like this. Ours too—how often does a family really have serious talks? It’s either playful banter or playful banter. Even in our household, that’s just how it goes."

"What are you two chatting about so happily?" Tong Yao walked in, cuddling Ziyan, and chuckled as she looked at them.

Connie said with a laugh, "My sister-in-law’s parents just called her."

Yi Luowa stuck her tongue out playfully at Yi Weiyang, "Second Uncle, that person is even more childish than you. In the future, let him be the one to keep you and Big Brother in check."

Yi Weiyang glared at her with a smile, "Who is that person, huh? Don’t talk like you’ve forgotten your manners!"

"Hehe..." Yi Luowa practically flew over to sit beside Yi Weiyang, "Second Uncle, my mom is even more childish than him. Can you believe she pretended to be sick to scare me? Good thing I’ve been tempered into steel under your wing, or else I would’ve been scared to death."

"You better behave! Let’s see how they deal with you when they come." Yi Weiyang laughed and tapped her forehead.

Long Che chuckled and patted his granddaughter’s head, "Look how happy your mom is! No matter how old we get, everyone needs their mom. Well, now your mom has found hers."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips in a smile and winked at her daughter.

Sangyu let out a bubbling laugh.

Tong Yao looked at her daughter-in-law with compassion, "At last, one major worry has been resolved. These past two years must’ve really been hard on you."

"Back then, when it was just me and my Second Uncle, I didn’t think about these things. Later, I found out Xi Meichen wasn’t my mom. Afterward, one by one, everyone found their birth mothers. I only felt a tiny bit of sadness—but just a little—because I had all of you with me. I still felt like the luckiest person."

Yi Luowa smiled and rested her head on her Second Uncle’s shoulder, "Second Uncle, when I was talking to them just now, it didn’t feel as tense or taxing as I’d imagined. It was just like how I normally talk to you."

Yi Weiyang furrowed his brow slightly, "You went ahead and chit-chatted with your mom and dad like that? They won’t blame you—they’ll blame me for not teaching you properly!"

"No way! They’re even less like proper adults than you are!"

As soon as Yi Luowa got the words out, she was tapped on the arm.

Yi Luowa pouted and looked at Yi Weiyang, "I’m already a mother of two, and you’re still hitting me!"

"Doesn’t matter, or else you wouldn’t learn your lesson!" Yi Weiyang gave her a teasing glare, "Since you know you’re a mom now, set a good example for your kids!"

"Okay—" Yi Luowa dragged out the word dramatically in reply.

Tong Airui came down from upstairs holding two bear-shaped hair clips. Seeing his wife rubbing her arm, he asked with concern, "Got smacked again?"

Yi Luowa wrinkled her nose, "If you had come down sooner, maybe I wouldn’t have gotten hit."

"So it’s my fault now?" Tong Airui’s lips twitched slightly, "Maybe don’t provoke your Second Uncle so much next time!"

"Even if I don’t provoke him, he’ll still find a reason to hit me." Yi Luowa looked at her Second Uncle with an exaggerated expression of grievance. "It hurts! Could you rub it for me?"

Yi Weiyang, half-laughing and half-exasperated, grabbed her arm and started rubbing it while scolding her, "I just tapped you lightly, and here you are acting like I broke your arm! Do we need to go to the hospital?"

"I think so! Who knows, maybe you really fractured it!" Yi Luowa bantered back with a grin. Despite her playful words, her face was filled with happiness. "Honestly though, being hit by you reassures me. It’s proof my Second Uncle is still my Second Uncle!"

"So you’re telling me you’re asking for it on purpose?" Yi Weiyang chuckled as he let go of her arm.

"If you don’t hit me for a few days, I get all fidgety, haha..." Yi Luowa laughed and leaned her head back onto her Second Uncle’s shoulder again.

Tong Airui shook his head helplessly and walked over to his daughter, raising his hand to fasten the bear-shaped hair clips to her hair.

Long Che glanced at them, "These won’t hurt Sangyu, will they?"

"They’re soft, so they won’t hurt her. These clips are the same kind Yi Luowa wore when she was little."

Yi Weiyang looked up and smiled, "They really are the same! When I bought Yi Luowa those clips, I was already in a wheelchair. It was Lao Li who pushed me out for some fresh air, and I saw them and thought they looked cute, so I bought them for her."

"Wait, these clips were from you?!" Yi Luowa looked at her Second Uncle with a smile. "You don’t understand—these clips have been etched in Tong Airui’s memory for over twenty years. Anytime he sees them, he’ll buy them, and now he’s collected two whole boxes full!"

"Is that true?" Yi Weiyang asked, laughing.

"Yeah, back when the car accident happened, I was sitting by the roadside holding Yi Luowa, scared out of my wits. The only thing I could remember was her big eyes and the bear-shaped hair clips in her hair," Tong Airui said with a grin as he fastened the clips to his daughter’s hair. "Second Uncle, look—does Sangyu look like Yi Luowa when she was little?"

"She does! She really does!" Yi Weiyang smiled and stood up, slowly walking over to his granddaughter and reaching out to pat her tiny head. "When Grandpa came home from the hospital, your mom was about your age. She was so well-behaved—no crying, no fussing—she just stared at me with her big eyes. Back then, I was confused. I couldn’t stand her mother, but for some reason, I adored her daughter. Later, I found out your mom wasn’t the child of that woman I couldn’t stand."

Sangyu giggled and reached her hands out toward Yi Weiyang.

Yi Luowa rushed over, "Grandpa, you can’t hold her—"

"Of course I can! She’s practically weightless," Yi Weiyang said with a smile as he took Sangyu into his arms. Sangyu snuggled into her grandpa’s embrace and immediately reached up to pull out one of the hair clips, examining it closely.

Ziyan leaned forward to get a better look at his sister, reaching out toward her.

Tong Yao moved a few steps closer, and Ziyan stretched his chubby arm out toward Sangyu’s bear-shaped hair clip.

Tong Airui quickly grabbed his son’s little hand and pulled a pair of identical clips from his pocket. "Ziyan, call me ’Dad,’ and I’ll give you these clips."

Ziyan stared at the bear-shaped clips in his dad’s hand, clapping his little hands together and pouting but remained silent.

Tong Airui waved the clips in front of Ziyan. "Just say ’Dad,’ and they’re yours! Let’s put them on like your sister did—you’ll look so pretty!"

Sangyu peered at the clips in her dad’s hand and reached her little hand out. "Ba-ba-ba-ba..."

Tong Airui’s eyes lit up with delight, "Sangyu said ’Daddy’! Daddy will give you all the clips!"

"Ba—" Ziyan struggled for a long time before finally producing a sound.

"Haha..." Tong Airui was so happy he didn’t know what to do. "Both my son and daughter can say ’Daddy’ now!"

Yi Luowa shot him a disdainful glance, "Connie, let’s go eat."

"Yeah, let’s go eat." Connie tried to stifle her laughter and nodded.

Dragging Connie along wasn’t enough for Yi Luowa; she turned her attention to the others, "Dad, Mom, Second Uncle—you all eaten yet? Come eat with us."

Now his wife wanted to gather the whole family to leave! Tong Airui gave her a sly look, "Yi Luowa, what are you scheming? You shouldn’t be this blatantly jealous!"

"Jealous? Jealous of you? What’s there to be jealous of? Don’t flatter yourself." Yi Luowa scoffed, "Mom, Second Uncle—you two can leave Ziyan and Sangyu with him while we go eat."

Tong Yao smirked and sniffed, "Did someone spill the vinegar bottle in the kitchen?"
