CHAPTER 644: CHAPTER 547: THERE ARE STILL QUITE A FEW REMNANTS! (SECOND UPDATE)
The inside of the RV was warm, but as soon as we stepped out, the cold wind hit, and it was really hard to bear.
The Queen of Haotian reached out to adjust her daughter’s collar. "Don’t catch a cold, it could spread to the kids."
Yi Luowa felt warm inside and hugged her mother’s arm. "I’m pretty healthy, I’ve hardly ever caught a cold. But Tong Airui, he once got sick, and it scared Dad so much he didn’t even let me see the kids."
The Queen of Haotian smiled helplessly. "I never thought your father-in-law would be so indulgent with the kids."
"Dad loves Sangyu more. Tong Airui said that when they were kids, he and his siblings couldn’t even lie on Dad’s bed, but now these two kids lie on Grandpa’s bed all the time."
"Sigh... I was still thinking that when you return to Haotian, you could bring the kids to stay for a few days. Seems like that’s not going to work."
"If it doesn’t work out, I’ll just go there myself to see you."
The Queen of Haotian touched her daughter’s cheek and smiled. "You think I like you, huh? To tell the truth, my favorite is my granddaughter!"
Yi Luowa puffed her cheeks angrily. "Mom—! I’m not talking to you anymore!"
"Haha... You’re such a grown-up now, and you still can’t tell when I’m teasing you. Luowa, these two kids are being monopolized by your father-in-law. Why don’t you give me another pair? It doesn’t matter if it’s a boy or a girl, I’ll help you raise them."
Yi Luowa wrinkled her nose. "I don’t want to. It’s too much suffering. It’s not just me; even Tong Airui suffered alongside, staying up all night with me."
The Queen of Haotian pursed her lips in displeasure.
Yi Luowa chuckled. "Mom, how about that RV just now?"
The Queen of Haotian’s face lit up with a smile. "It’s absolutely amazing!"
"I’ll make one for you and Dad as well!"
"Ah!"
"I made that one for Tong Airui, and even Danton liked it. He was asking me for it back then."
"My daughter is really talented!" The Queen of Haotian laughed. "How much money does it cost? I’ll pay for it; you just make one for your dad."
"I have money." Yi Luowa leaned close to her mother’s ear and whispered, "I’m ranked third on the Xiawu wealth list!"
Seeing her daughter’s smug little face, the Queen of Haotian lightly tapped her forehead. "With what your dad and I gave you, your financial status could already rank second!"
Yi Luowa froze. "What! What did you and Dad give me?"
The Queen of Haotian froze as well. "You didn’t even check what we gave you?!"
"I just casually left it on the coffee table."
The Queen of Haotian let out a frustrated hum. "You’re really careless!"
"Hehe... Mom, don’t be mad. It’s just that I didn’t have time to look. You can tell me now: what did you and Dad give me?"
"Ten gold mines, two islands, one shipping line, plus twenty shops of Xiangrui Gold."
"Mom, Haotian is still in recovery. Giving me so much would hurt its vitality. I don’t want it; I’ll give it back to you later!"
"Haven’t you heard the phrase ’a starving camel is still bigger than a horse’? This little bit is nothing; our family can afford it. But now that we’re about to go inside, don’t talk about it anymore. If others overhear, they’ll laugh at us."
Yi Luowa puffed her cheeks. "Anyway, I won’t take it!"
The Queen of Haotian smacked her hand heavily. "You’ve accepted what your second uncle gave you, but if you say you won’t take what your dad and I gave, just see if I’ll ever acknowledge you again!"
Yi Luowa pouted and followed her mother into the living room.
Tong Yao walked over holding Sangyu. "Everything’s okay over there now, right?"
The Queen of Haotian apologized with a smile. "It’s settled. They’re handling the aftermath now. Sorry for making everyone worry so much."
"We’re all family; why say such formal things!" Tong Yao replied with a smile. "Go take a seat; it was so intense. If it were me, I’d surely be sick again."
"I’ve gotten used to it. I’ve experienced things even more extreme than this..." The Queen of Haotian glanced at Sangyu, who was staring at her with big black eyes. She laughed and said, "Is our little treasure Sangyu hoping her grandma will hold her?"
Sangyu glanced at her grandma and then at her mom, going back and forth a few times before finally deciding. She extended her chubby little hand toward her mom.
Yi Luowa used her finger to nudge her little hand toward the Queen of Haotian.
Sangyu glanced at her grandma again and extended her hand toward her mom.
Yi Luowa laughed and gently pushed her little hand toward her mother again.
Sangyu’s tiny temper flared up instantly, and she threw her head back and cried.
"You have nothing better to do than tease the child!" The Queen of Haotian angrily smacked her daughter’s shoulder.
Sangyu saw her mom getting hit and pouted her little mouth, seemingly feeling heartbroken.
Yi Luowa smiled and picked up Sangyu. "Grandma is going back to Haotian soon. Why don’t you let Grandma hold you?"
"Of course children are naturally closer to their moms. If she wants you to hold her, just hold her, and stop complaining about us!" The Queen of Haotian lovingly stroked her granddaughter’s little cheek and took Ziyang from Yan Zi’s arms.
Yan Zi smiled as she looked at her. "After all these years, you’ve really grown stronger! No challenge can take you down now."
The Queen of Haotian laughed helplessly. "I had no choice. If I were still as fragile as when you first saw me in F Country, I don’t know how many times I’d have died by now."
Ni Lu chuckled and said, "Speaking of fate, ours is truly something special. When you were pregnant with Luowa, you met Yan Zi, and when you gave birth to Luowa, we were in the same hospital..."
"And spent twenty years apart from our children!" The Queen of Haotian smiled bitterly. "It’s definitely an extraordinary fate. Then again, without this bond, Luowa and Airui wouldn’t have gotten together."
Tong Yao laughed and said, "That’s right. Everything seemed to revolve around tying their red thread of destiny."
While they chatted about this special bond, Yi Luowa secretly tugged on Tong Yao’s sleeve.
Tong Yao understood and followed her to the balcony.
"Luowa, what’s the matter?"
"Mom, I just found out my mom gave me and Tong Airui a lot of things. I said I didn’t want them, but she got angry. What should I do?"
Tong Yao laughed. "If your mom gave it to you, just accept it. That way, she’ll feel better. Haotian is in the midst of rebuilding, and your dad and Rui’er won’t just sit by and do nothing. I overheard your dad calling your uncles earlier, and they all agreed to invest in Haotian."
Yi Luowa’s face lit up with joy. "Really! I definitely need to thank Dad."
"Also, when you went out earlier this morning, your Uncle Muta called. He said he’d annul all the treaties signed during those troubles with Kai Di years ago."
Yi Luowa pursed her lips in a smile. "Mom, I don’t even know how to thank all of you."
Tong Yao smiled and asked, "So now, are you feeling at ease?"
Yi Luowa nodded firmly.
Sangyu copied her mom’s gesture and nodded firmly as well.
Tong Yao and Yi Luowa laughed heartily and kissed Sangyu’s cheek.
After finishing his official business, the Emperor of Haotian walked into the living room with Long Che and Tong Airui.
The Queen of Haotian asked, "Is everything handled?"
"Yes, it’s settled for now. Tonight I’ll head back myself; you can stay here for a few days."
"Will you be fine?"
"Don’t worry, Marcus has mostly handled it."
Noting her husband’s weary expression, the Queen of Haotian stood up with Ziyang in her arms. "Randy, let’s go to the study. I have something to discuss with you."
Long Che quickly took his grandson and said to the Emperor of Haotian, "Talk to Zhi Lan about it; otherwise, she’ll worry."
The Emperor of Haotian sighed softly and followed his wife into the study.
"Whose people?"
"Xia Rou’s, to put it bluntly, Du Ma’s. They came seeking revenge for Xia Rou."
The Queen of Haotian furrowed her brow slightly. "There are really a lot of remnants! But with so many people armed like that, shouldn’t our people have detected something earlier?"
"Dark Soul found an underground palace in Du Ma’s residence. This palace is a sprawling network, extending all the way outside the capital to Da Xishan."
"Randy, when you return, you must thoroughly clean out the underground. Those two really are siblings through and through—their schemes are identical."
"It’s no wonder Airui and Long Che don’t want Luowa to return with the kids. It seems our place is still unsafe."
"Then we’ll wait."
"Alright."
"Don’t let it weigh on you... those captured merchants must be reassured. Otherwise, who would dare invest there again in the future?"
"Speaking of the merchants, that reminds me: Joel was also captured, and he’s injured."
The Queen of Haotian hesitated. "Joel has done so much for them over the years. How did he end up being captured as well?"
"Not only captured, but they tried to kill him. If Dark Soul hadn’t arrived in time, he would’ve been the third person shot. It seems someone leaked the information—they already know Joel was the one who disrupted Xia Rou’s plan."
"If that’s the case, Nancy has already left the capital. She’s the only one who knew about this."
"The security was so tight—how could she have managed to escape? It must have been through the underground tunnels."
"Her escape doesn’t bode well. Thankfully, I’ve already announced Luowa’s identity on television. Otherwise, if Nancy goes out there with Luowa’s face and causes trouble... what do Long Che and Airui think about this?"
"They assured me that no matter what Nancy does, they won’t let her pin it on Luowa."
"With their reassurance, I can rest easy. Randy, I think I should go back with you. At a time like this, you shouldn’t be without someone by your side."
The Emperor of Haotian shook his head. "You shouldn’t follow me back. Do you know how many ambush points Dark Soul and Airui’s people uncovered along the route I’ll be taking back?"
