CHAPTER 30: CHAPTER 25: PATH OF NATURE

Daisy is a very cheerful girl.

Her cheerfulness brought a slight smile to Shawn’s face.

"That’s the Grand Pendulum Clock up ahead."

Though Daisy had social anxiety, she was very lively. She seldom spoke to others, but with Shawn, she chirped away like a merry little yellow warbler.

As for why, perhaps it was because Shawn was quite handsome.

"The park is over there, and there’s a big artificial lake where you can fish in the afternoon."

Daisy took out some bread crumbs, teased the nearby white doves, turned her head, and with a flowering smile, said in a crisp voice, "How about I take you for a tour around University City?"

What a cute and lovely girl.

Shawn’s mood was also much relaxed by her.

Last time he came to the park, Shawn only sat for a while by the central square. This time, Daisy brought him to the artificial lake, which was indeed very large. The lake water was clear and blue, with many fish inside but not many anglers. Paths paved with pebbles ran along both banks, with benches every few intervals and green trees shading the roads on both sides.

There weren’t many people sitting near the benches, but the lawn not far away was filled with many young men and women, mostly in their twenties, full of vigor, socializing, relaxing, and romancing.

There are three universities nearby, and students often came in groups to play.

Daisy is a very easy-going girl.

Even when Shawn didn’t speak with her, she didn’t mind. Sometimes she talked to herself; sometimes she crouched down to tease small animals. The surrounding scenery would make her stop and admire it. When she was cheerful, she would chirp away, and when silent, she would squat down, fiddling with the grass or observing ants crawling on the ground.

Shawn felt very relaxed around her. It wasn’t awkward even when they weren’t talking. They each strolled through the park, and Shawn leisurely walked behind while Daisy dashed around, frequently turning back to check if Shawn had gotten lost.

This wasn’t a forest; Shawn wouldn’t get lost so easily.

"Are you from the Del Region?" Shawn asked, sitting on a bench by the road.

Daisy, who was a bit short, swung her little feet on the bench. Her fine deerskin boots suggested her family was well off. She looked at the artificial lake before her, skipped a stone on the water, and handed one to Shawn, nodding, "Yes, from the south of Del, River Valley Town, a small place."

"There aren’t many people there, not like Dorne, this big city."

Shawn reached out to catch the stone and threw it out directly. Perhaps due to his enhanced physical skills, the stone skipped tens of meters away.

"Wow!" Though Daisy said nothing, her wide bright eyes looked at him with admiration.

Such a naive young girl.

It was clear she had little contact with others in the past, and her heart remained quite innocent and carefree.

"Where is Del?" Shawn asked.

Tilting her head, Daisy thought for a moment and said, "South of the Dorne Kingdom, very far away. First, you take a three-day carriage ride, then a day by train."

"But I got here in a day because Gugu brought me."

Curious, Shawn asked, "Gugu is?"

Daisy gestured with her small hands emphatically and said seriously, "Gugu is a giant eagle, very, very big."

Path of Nature.

Daisy jumped off the bench, came to the lake, glanced around, then crouched down to stir the water. Soon, several carp swam over. She used a stalk of wild grass to direct them in circles, whispering, "Are you a Wizard?"

Shawn nodded slightly.

"Wow! You’re amazing!" Daisy exclaimed with wide eyes, "The Elder of the Woods said Wizards are the most powerful and the hardest to advance in the Casting Sequence."

Shawn knew this.

His experiences during this time had been truly indescribable.

"Can you show me? I’ve never met a Wizard before," Daisy’s eyes were filled with curiosity.

Shawn hesitated for a moment, but seeing the pure look in the young girl’s eyes before him, he gently nodded. An Invisible Hand extended from behind him, lifting a carp from the lake. As water droplets splashed, the faint outline of a hand could be seen.

The Invisible Hand was just not visible to the naked eye; it was a Hand of the Force Field with no physical form.

"Amazing!" Daisy couldn’t help but exclaim.

Shawn dismissed the Invisible Hand, and the carp fell back into the water, disappearing quickly. He whispered, "Did you always live near the forest?"

"Yes," Daisy nodded, "Miracle Forest."

"We are all children of the forest."

Children of the forest?

Does it have some special meaning?

Daisy leaned closer to Shawn and whispered, "I’ll tell you a secret."

Shawn turned his head in confusion: "Hmm?"

Daisy leaned close to his ear, her breath hauntingly soft and secretive: "We are all children who grew out from the tree."

Huh?

Shawn raised his head in astonishment.

Daisy had already stood up, patting the dust off herself. She turned back and smiled at Shawn: "Let’s go. I’ll take you to tour the University City."

On the way, Shawn was still pondering Daisy’s words.

Children from the tree?

Was it a joke, or was she serious?

In the Bizarre Realm, anything is possible.

Central Square.

"Sir, would you like to buy a bouquet of flowers?" a timid child’s voice sounded.

Shawn turned around, seeing a little girl about eleven or twelve years old. She wore a dusty gray linen long dress with patches, holding a bunch of fresh flowers, her eyes full of expectation.

"Ah? It’s you, sir." The little girl clearly recognized Shawn and seemed a bit at a loss.

But she mustered the courage and said quietly: "Sir, would you like to buy a bouquet of flowers for the beautiful lady beside you?"

Shawn reached for his wallet, picked up a bunch of white lilies, and asked, "How much?"

The little girl was visibly delighted and bowed in gratitude: "5 Seth, sir."

A 1 Denar banknote.

The little girl took five 1 Seth coins from her pocket sewn onto her dress and handed them to Shawn: "Thank you, sir. Have a great day."

She seemed to sell flowers around the Grand Pendulum Clock, her footsteps covered nearby apartments, restaurants, parks, and opera houses.

Shawn handed the white lilies to Daisy beside him: "For you."

Daisy smiled with eyes curved: "Thank you."

But as they passed the center of the square, she placed the bouquet before the towering nameless monument.

It is the second largest landmark here next to the Grand Pendulum Clock.

Caesar University is a noble school, located near the Flower Garden District, with a vast area but not many students. Only children from noble or wealthy families can afford the expensive tuition. However, Caesar University offers additional free spots every year for outstanding civilian children; only top scholars can obtain them, along with nearly 3000 Denars in scholarship each year.

For ordinary people, getting into Caesar University is essentially life-changing.

This University City is grand and magnificent, with a grand arch as its gate, steeped in history, and a fountain at the entrance. Beside it stands a special statue, covered in scars and shackled, holding a cluster of burning flame.

— Fire Thief-Prometheus.

The academy’s buildings widely use pure white marble, characterized by grandeur, solidity, and splendor, with thick walls, rough arches, pointed roofs, and exquisite carvings.

This is very Roman, and the school’s name is Roman, too.

From the Dorne Kingdom using Denar as currency, it’s clear that a transmigrator had a profound influence on this land.

"Soul of the Otherworld." Shawn’s gaze is profound.

Daisy took him for a tour around the University City, then came near the Grand Library, named Library of Alexandria, which doesn’t sound very Roman.

"The library is open for free, and ordinary people can apply, but it’s a bit cumbersome," Daisy said softly.

Passing students occasionally cast curious glances at Shawn but did not pause their steps.

This University City covers a large area; Daisy only took Shawn on a brief circle, and it was already one in the afternoon.

Just as they were about to find somewhere for lunch, William’s figure appeared in the distance.

His expression was rather grave as he quickly approached Shawn and said: "There’s been a little accident. Many Extraordinary Relics have circulated into Dorne City, falling into the hands of ordinary people."

"We don’t have enough investigators!"

"The headquarters hopes you will cooperate with us, to find those Extraordinary Relics that have fallen into ordinary people’s hands."

Shawn’s expression turned serious at these words, not forgetting his current role.

An investigator.

One must have a strong inspiration to become a formal investigator.
