CHAPTER 74: CHAPTER 14: HOW WIZARDS SOLVE PROBLEMS 3
"Leave this to me."
Investigators are human too, and there will be a day they can’t handle it.
Hank was about to shake his head, but seeing Shawn’s resolute gaze, he eventually nodded slowly: "Alright."
"Let me know immediately if there’s any problem."
Shawn smiled, pulled one out of Hank’s hand, and calmly said: "I’ll handle this."
A runaway ancient evil spirit.
He embarked on the journey to become a Transcendent to protect his loved ones, believing that this would give him the power to safeguard everything. But one day, he had a flash of inspiration and saw himself in the mirror.
A hideous and terrifying monster!
This is the harshest truth of the Bizarre Realm—before today’s professional advancement system was fully formed, the likelihood of ancient Transcendents losing control was even higher.
In that era, there were no psychologists; Transcendents relied solely on their own willpower.
When he discovered that the supernatural power sought to protect his loved ones had transformed him into a dangerous and horrifying monster, the inner world of this Transcendent collapsed.
After he died, his soul became an evil spirit of the Spirit Realm.
Hank likely separated from his ex-wife for similar reasons. He probably still loves his wife, but he was decisive and made the decision before it became irreversible.
And that monster from the Spirit Realm probably already did something irreparable.
That’s why it was trapped there, twisted into an unnameable monster.
"This eerie event isn’t suitable for Hank to continue investigating; it would sting his inner world."
Hank was clearly struggling a bit.
It wasn’t because he sensed traces of an eerie presence but because all of this awakened certain buried memories.
Shawn could guess that it’s related to Hank’s current mental state; an investigator wouldn’t lose so much rationality all at once, Hank was clearly influenced by something.
The most likely reason is that they’ve had similar experiences.
This year, Hank has already touched the dangerous edge twice, this event can’t become the last straw that breaks the camel’s back.
So Shawn decided to take over everything!
He has no ties in this world and has long accepted the reality of slowly becoming a monster, so even if there’s a resonance of inspiration, Shawn won’t fall into it.
The investigator’s greatest fear is to fully assume the perspective of the victim and the eerie presence, perceiving every trace of the supernatural.
"Be like an audience."
"No matter how much inspiration resonates, you’re always just an audience, like watching a horror movie."
Shawn snapped his fingers and slightly signaled towards Benjamin at the door, saying: "Let everyone else leave."
"Help me prepare some ritual materials."
"I want to continue the Spirit Summoning Ceremony that they didn’t finish."
The monster from the Spirit Realm doesn’t know where it’s fled to.
But no matter.
Shawn plans to go against convention; since it has already escaped, let’s summon it back.
The incomplete Spirit Summoning Ceremony has already anchored its spirituality.
Before it harms others in the real world, Shawn intends to summon it back and deal with it. He’s not Hank—on the Wizard Path, he naturally masters mystical knowledge. Hank has to rely on tracking to lock onto the target, but Shawn, being a Wizard, has quite a few tricks up his sleeve.
Knowledge is power.
Rather than painstakingly searching for it everywhere, why not try another approach one more time?
He plans to forcibly summon it!
This is the problem-solving approach of the Wizard Path, and Shawn is gradually becoming a competent Wizard.
