Bizarre Realm
Chapter 75 - 15: ’Monster’ Versus Monster!
CHAPTER 75: CHAPTER 15: ’MONSTER’ VERSUS MONSTER!
Shawn entered the Realm of Reality from the Bizarre Realm.
If he had gradually come to understand the Bizarre Realm from the Realm of Reality, at the moment of learning the truth, he would probably have felt unparalleled despair. But now, Shawn has gradually accepted it all; he had prepared himself for the worst from the very beginning. In comparison, there is a sense of things turning around and bouncing back.
His resilience was laid out from the start, so when he discovered that he might turn into a monster one day, he was not surprised at all. (All Otherworldly souls are like this; those who cannot accept it, perish. Naturally, they don’t lose control. Losing control of an Otherworldly soul is a terrifying thing.)
The huge sense of disparity that other Transcendents feel is completely reversed for Shawn.
Because to him, the Bizarre Realm is not that bad. He already accepted the worst part in advance, so thinking about it now, in such a damned world, there is actually a pretty decent Realm of Reality.
Isn’t that quite good?
In this reverse huge sense of disparity, Shawn has formed his rational anchor. For him, encountering bizarre entities is no big deal. He has already seen the most despairing and terrifying world truths, so ordinary bizarre events cannot shake his rationality. His rational anchor remains unmoved.
In Shawn’s perception, dealing with bizarre events is just like battling monsters and leveling up, only these monsters have a bit of a bug, a high-difficulty challenge.
This change in mindset means that Shawn possesses a rationality and will far beyond other Transcendents.
Of course, understanding the world as a game is also a terrifying perception. (Even more so for the monsters.)
In the afternoon.
Gemma also arrived at the scene of the incident, bringing some ritual props and also some useful clues she dug out from ancient books on noble heraldry.
"The Kraswell Clan."
"Their family crest is quite similar to this one, one of the old noble families of the Dagon Region."
Gemma handed a heavy ancient book to Shawn and said: "But this family disappeared over a hundred years ago, reportedly due to a bloodline curse, with all direct heirs dying off."
"They were once one of the Guardian Clans of the Dagon Region."
The Dagon Region?
Shawn’s expression was grave, nodding silently.
How to describe that place? It doesn’t have the tranquility of the Dorne Region, more like a no man’s land in the upper world, with no strong order to maintain, and it’s also the place with the most wild Transcendents. Shawn hasn’t figured out the exact reasons, but that area often relates to ancient, unspeakable entities in slumber.
In the ancient tongue—"Dagon means Dagon."
Those Transcendents who understand what ’Dagon’ represents can understand why that region is always in turmoil.
"Guardian Clan?" Shawn flipped through his memories.
The history of the Guardian Clans is quite long; it’s hard to explain succinctly. Let’s just say that the nameless ones who ended the Dark Era back then included not only ’Foreigners’ from Earth but also strong individuals from other worlds entering the Bizarre Realm.
By comparison, their strength at the time was more powerful because some were non-human mythical races, such as High Elves, Demons, Angels, Giant Dragons, etc.
However, the human-led final counterattack against the Dark Era was spearheaded by the ’Foreigners.’
This is where the origins of the Guardian Clans lie.
Compared to other countries in the Realm of Reality, the Dorne Kingdom can be regarded as the ’legitimate succession of the Foreigners’ since, as one can see from the altered history, they consider themselves the ’legitimate successors of the Ancient Roman Empire.’ And in the Realm of Reality, the cultural customs in some places are entirely different, and the tech tree of the Dorne Kingdom does not represent the tech tree of other places in the Realm of Reality.
The reason is simple; it inherits Earth’s civilization, inherits Earth’s knowledge, but other places in the Realm of Reality, some inherit knowledge from Otherworld.
After the knowledge of the Bizarre Realm has been vitalized, humans are inheriting knowledge from Otherworld.
"In a certain sense, the people of Dorne Kingdom are human descendants surviving under the protection of ’Foreigners.’ Half spiritually earthly humans."
"The Dagon Region, however, is said to originate from a powerful demon, an Otherworldly soul descended."
Shawn also doesn’t know much about information from long ago; he does not yet have the qualification to browse the deepest collections in Lady Hecate’s Maze Library.
Inside the room.
Gemma started assisting Shawn in setting up the ritual.
Compared to Shawn, she lacks a good teacher, so her mastery of mysterious knowledge isn’t as comprehensive as Shawn’s, mainly obtained through channels in the Realm of Reality. However, she has her own advantage, that is, much more experience than Shawn. A self-promoted Wizard, she has her unique understanding of the world.
As long as this understanding perception doesn’t cause a huge conflict with the truth of the world, Gemma should have no problem on her later path of ascension.
"In fact, those with flexible moral boundaries find it easier to accept reality."
A ghostly ritual was completed in the room.
This time, Shawn was preparing not a regular Spirit Summoning Ceremony, but a Blood Sacrifice Ceremony from the Dark Era. This kind of ceremony is more powerful, with a bit of coercion and forcefulness, but the difficulty of mastering it is higher, and the ritual’s backlash can easily erode a bit of rationality.
